(p. 78) araṇamu araṇamu. [Skt.] n. A present given by a father-in-law to his son-in-law or by a father to his daughter, at the nuptials. పెండ్లికొడుకునకు మాములు ఇచ్చే వస్తుసామగ్రి పెండ్లికూతురికి తండ్రి యిచ్చే దిన్ని 'అల్లునికి రైవతుడొసంగెయరణమపుడు.' Balarama. vi. 157.

(p. 140) illaṭamu illaṭamu. [Tel. from ఇల్లు.] n. Residence in the house of one's wife's father. ఇల్లటపల్లుడు one who has become a member of his father-in-law's household. ఇల్లటము పెట్టిరి they kept their son-in-law in their family. ఇల్లటకాడు the son-in-law thus kept in their family.

(p. 849) prīti prīti. [Skt.] n. Joy, pleasure, delight, happiness, love, affection, regard. సంతోషము, స్నేహము. The name of the wife of Manmadha, మన్మధునిభార్య. దేవునికి ప్రీతిగా చేసిరి they did it in honour of the god, for the purpose of conciliating the god. ముఖప్రీతిమాటలు feigned or flattering words. ఆచార్యులవారికి ప్రీతిగా ఈ గ్రామము నిచ్చినారు they bestowed this village on him as a compliment. తల్లికి ప్రీతిగా ఈ దానము చేసినాడు he gave this in honour of his mother. శనిప్రీతిచేసినాడు he did this to avert the evil influence of Saturn. విష్ణుప్రీతిభూమి lands consecrated to Vishṇu. ప్రీతిదత్తము prīti-dattamu. n. A dowry given to a bride by her father-in-law or mother-in-law. ప్రీతుడు prītuḍu. n. One who is pleased or satisfied, ప్రీతినొందినవాడు.

(p. 975) māma māma. [from Skt. మామక.] n. A father-in-law. Also, a mother's brother, మేనమామ. The same title is bestowed equally on the brothers of a father-in-law, as పినమామగారు, పెద్దమామగారు. The phrase శకునిమామ denotes 'Uncle Sakuni,' i.e., an evil counsellor. Sakuni was the maternal uncle of Duryōdhana. మామమామ an epithet of Vishnu, as he married Lakshmi the daughter of the Sea (సముద్రుడు) whose wife (Ganges) is related to him as a daughter, లక్ష్మీదేవిని పెండ్లాడినందున తనకు మామయైన సముద్రునికి పెండ్లామగు గంగాదేవి తనకు కూతురువరుస అగుటచేత విష్ణువు సముద్రునికి మామ అయ్యెను.

(p. 1264) śvaśuruḍu ṣvaṣuruḍu. [Skt.] n. A father-in-law. పడుచును ఇచ్చినమామ, భార్యకుతండ్రి. A. v. 102. శంకరశ్వశురశైలము an epithet of the Himalaya, as 'father-in-law to Siva.' శ్వత్రువు ṣvaṣruvu. n. A mother-in-law. పడుచును ఇచ్చిన అత్తగారు, భార్యకుతల్లి.
