(p. 294) kuduru kuduru. [Tel.] v. n. To settle. స్థిరమగు. To recover (from illness) స్వస్థమగు. To be set, arranged, fixed, settled. To be got, obtained, found, come to hand. To fit or suit. అనుకూలమగు. To be introduced into an employ, to enter on it. To become firm, resolute. To succeed, prosper, flourish. కుదిరిన వ్రాత a settled handwriting అంతా బాగా కుదిరినది all is now right or settled. గణములు కుదరలేదు the metre is defective. ఆ పని వానికి కుదిరినది he obtained that employment. నాకు ఇల్లు కుదరలేదు. I cannot obtain lodgings. కుదురుపాటు kuduru-pāṭu. n. Settlement, arrangement, cure, remedy. కుదురుచు or కుదుర్చు or కుడిరించు kuduruṭsu. (causal of కుదురు.) v. n. To restore, to settle or arrange, to curl, to heal, to pacify, to calm, to fix or place. కుదురు kuduru. n. (G. కుదిటి Loc. కుదుట. Plu. కుదుళ్లు.) n. Settlement. Symmetry, gracefulness, beauty. Trimness, orderliness. అమరిక. Health, perfection. A family వంశము. One branch of a family. A garden bed. పాదు. A support or prop ప్రాపు. a ledge, or rim, preventing grain falling out of a mortar. A settle or ring of cord to prevent a pot from rolling over. చనుకుదురు a cancer in the breast. వాడు ఒక కుదిటివాడు he belongs to one branch of the family. ఒక్క కుదురైయున్నారు they live as one family. కుదురుకొను or కుదురుపడు kuduru-konu. v. n. To settle, to be settled. కదలకనిలుచు, నెలకొను, స్థిరపడు.

(p. 446) cāṭu ṭsāṭu. [Tel.] n. A shelter, or covering, a screen, or shade, a nook, any thing concealing another or preventing its being seen. మరుగు. తల్లిచాటున in her mother's charge. నేను చాటుగా నిలిస్తిని I stood behind. చాటుచేయు to use as a screen. చెట్టుచాటున behind the tree. చాటుననుండే hidden, screened, unknown. పెట్టె చాటున దొరికినది I found it behind the box. ఆ కొండ చాటు అయినది that hill intercepts the view. చాటుగానుంచు to keep hidden. చాటు. v. a. To proclaim, publish. To warn, threaten, declare. To confess, betray, evince ప్రసిద్ధిచేయు, విశదపరుచు. చాటించు ṭsāṭinṭsu. v. a. To proclaim, to publish, advertise, notify, make known, declare, warn, threaten, foretell, denounce. చాటింపు ṭsāṭimpu. n. Proclamation, advertisement. చాటుపడు ṭsāṭu-paḍu. v. n. To be hidden from view మరుగుపడు. చాటున ṭsāṭuva. n. Proclamation చాటించుట. Comparison, పోలిక, దృష్టాంతము. చాటుమాటుమనిషి a suspicious character, a skulker.

(p. 431) cerucu or చెరచు cheruṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To spoil, చెడజేయు; to hurt, to ruin, నశింపజేయు; to ravish, debauch. చెరుపు or చెడుపు cherupu. n. Damage, harm, ruin, loss, spoiling, dissension. పని చెరుపు hindrance, prevention. పనిచెరుపు కథ a nonsensical idle story. చెరుపుదల. cherupu-dala. n. Injuriousness, hurtfulness. చెరుపరి one who spoils or ruins. నాశకుడు.

(p. 830) pratihatamu prati-hatamu. [Skt.] adj. Disappointed, opposed, obstructed. విరుద్ధమయిన. అందుకు ప్రతిహతమైన ఒక లెక్క a cross account. అప్రతిహతము irresistible. ప్రతిహతముగా prati-hatamu-gā. adv. Against, in opposition. విరుద్ధముగా. ప్రతిహతి prati-hati. n. A prevention, obstruction. A repulse, rebound beating back. Disappointment, అడ్డగింత, విఘాతము, అభ్యంతరము. ప్రతిహతిలేని irresistible. ప్రతిహతుడు prati-hatuḍu. n. One who is disappointed, opposed or obstructed.

(p. 915) bhaṅgamu bhangamu. [Skt.] Breaking; a break, breach, hindrance; prevention, defeat, loss, disappointment, discomfiture, failure, అవమానము, ఓటమి. A breach or chasm. A wave, అల. Overwhelming destruction. చెరవు. కార్యభంగము disappointment. భ్రూభంగము a frown or contraction of the brow, knitting the brows. A bit, piece, తునక, ఖండము. భంగత bhangata. n. Defeat. అపజయము. 'లలనవళులెప్పుడును తారునిలచియుండు, నిలకడ యొకింతయునులేక చలనమొందుచుండు నంచును బలుమారునుల్లసమున, భంగతయొనర్చు జలధితరంగములకు.' Raja. Sekh. i. 51. భంగపడు bhanga-paḍu. v. n. To be disappointed, disgraced, defeated. అవమానపడు. భంగపరచు భంగించు or భంగపెట్టు bhanga-paraṭsu. v. a. To disappoint, defeat, disgrace. భంగపడ్డ disappointed, defeated. భంగపాటు bhanga-pāṭu. n. Defeat, disappointment.

(p. 951) manā or మన్నా manā. [H.] n. A prohibition, hindrance, prevention. వానికి దేవి డీమన్నా అయినది he is banished the court.

(p. 1068) rasamu rasamu. [Skt.] n. Juice, fluid, liquid, extract, essence. Taste, flavour, రుచి. Taste, sentiment, emotion, passion, affection, humour. Quicksilver, పాదరసము. The షడ్రసములు or six flavours are మధురము or తీసి sweet; ఆమ్లము or పులుసు sour; తిక్తము or వగరు astringent; లవణము or ఉప్పు salt; కటువు or కారము pungent; కషాయము or చేదు bitter. రసఖండమైనభూమి or రసవత్తైనభూమి strong soil, which is not exhausted. నీరసమైనభూమి land that is exhausted. కోపరసము the spirit of wrath. దయారసము the spirit of love, kind feelings. ఈ పద్యములో రసములేదు this is a tasteless verse. విరసమైనమాటలు rude language. The nine రసములు or humours produce the following స్థాయీభావములు (symptoms.) 1. శృంగారరసము (love) produces రతి enjoyement. 2. నీరసము (honour) produces ఉత్సాహము daring. 3. కరుణారసము (mercy) begets విస్మయము marvel. 5. హాస్యరసము (merriment) produces హాస్యభావము laughter. 6. భయానకరసము (timidity) leads to భయము fright. 7. బీభత్సరసము (austerity) begets జుగుప్స sarcasm. 8. రౌద్రరసము (wrath) leads to క్రోధము cruelty. 9. శాంతరసము. (gentleness) produces శమభావము calmness. రసకర్పూరము rasa-karpūramu. n. A white sublimate or muriate of mercury, కర్పూరరసము. రసగుండు rasa-gunḍu. n. A ball coated with quicksilver, రసముపూరినగుండు. రసజ్ఞు rasa-gnya. n. The tongue, నాలుక. రజజ్ఞత rasa-gnyata. n. Skill, judgement, taste, critical discernment, తెలివి. రసజ్ఞుడు rasa-gnyuḍu. n. A man of taste, a critic. గుణదోషములనెరిగినవాడు. రసదాడి or రసదాళి rasa-dāḍi. n. Sugar cane. చెరుకు. 'మమధురస్థూలదాడిమబీజములతోడ, దసరారురసదాడిగనెలతోడ.' A. ii. 85. A sort of factitious cinnabar, made with zinc, mercury, blue vitriol and nitre, ఔషధవిశేషము. రససిద్ధి rasa-siddhi. n. Alchemy, రసవాదము. 'ధమనీయఖంబున గ్రాలించిమెరుంగుపసిడి గనెరససిద్దిన్.' R. vi. 10. రసాంజనము a kind of collyrium. అంజనవిశేషము. రసాతలము rasā-talamu. n. A name of Hades. పాతాళలోకము. రసాభాసము ras-ābhāsamu. n. Bad taste, inelegance. adj. Disagreeable, disgusting. విరసమైన. ఆ శ్లోకమును దిద్ది రసాబాసము చేసినాడు in correcting the verse he has spoiled it, he showed bad taste in correcting it. రసాభాసముగా మాట్లాడినాడు he spoke coarsely. ఆయిల్లు నిండా రసాభాసముగా నున్నది that house is very disagreeable. ఊరేగుచుండగా వాన వచ్చి అంతా రసాభాసమైపోయినది when the marriage procession was going on, there was a shower and everything was upset. రసాయనము ras-āyanamu. n. A panacea, a medicine preventing old age and prolonging life, జరావ్యాధిహరౌషధము. Butter milk, sweet curds, గోరసము, చల్ల. Poison, విషము. 'తననచో మాధుర్యమెనయు నా యివి చూడుమన్నట్లు మేలిరసాయనములు, ఒప్పుగా గిన్నియలనుంచి యపచరించి.' T. iii. 18. టీ రసాయనములు, తీసిగలిగిన పదార్థములు. రసాల rasāla. n. A pudding or mess of curds, mixed up with sugar and spices. పెరుగులో ననేక ద్రవ్యములు వేసి చేసినది. రసాలము rasālamu. n. The sugar cane, చెరుకు. Also, the sweet mango tree, తియ్యమామిడి చెట్టు. రసావళ్లు ras-āvaḷḷu. n. A kind of cakes. 'తన యింటనప్పుడాయితమొనరించినకమ్మదావు లొలుకురసావళ్లునుమినుపవడలు జాపట్లునుగోదుమ పిండివంటలున్ గలవనినన్.' Vish. iii. 377. రసి or రసిక rasi. [Tel.] n. The pus, or matter of a sore, serum. పుంటిచీము. రసిక rasika. [Skt.] n. A woman of taste. రసికురాలు. రసికత or రసికత్వము rasikata. [Skt.] n. Good taste or judgement. రసజ్ఞత. రసికుడు rasikuḍu. A man of taste. శృంగారాదిరసములను గ్రహించువాడు, రసజ్ఞుడు. రసితము rasi-tamu. n. Sound noise, thunder. ధ్వని, ఉరుము.

(p. 1364) stambhamu stambhamu. [Skt.] n. A pillar, a post, a stalf, a stem, trunk, కంబము, Stupidity, stupefaction. Stoppage or suppression of any sense or power caused by magical incantations or drugs, &c. ఊరకుండుట, మ్రామపాటు, నిలుపడము. అరటిస్తంభము the stem of a plantain tree. స్తంభనము stambhanamu. n. Stopping, obstruction, hindrance. నిలుపడము, ఆటంక పరచడము. అగ్నిస్థంభనము restraining the power of fire by magical means జలన్తంభనము continuing along while under water without inconvenience. వాయుస్థంభనము raising the body in the air and maintaining it in such a position without support. భూతస్థంభనము the laying of ghosts, &c. మృగస్తంభనము restraining wild beasts. ఖడ్గస్థంభనము preventing a sword from doing injury. గతిస్తంభనము stoppage, preventing a man from moving. స్తంభించు stam-bhinṭsu. v. n. To stop, to become motionless, stupefied or insensible, నిలిచిపోవు, మ్రానుపడు. ఈ మాటవిని స్థంభించి పోయినాడు on hearing this he stood stock-still. స్తంభించు or స్తంభింపజేయు stambhinṭsu. v. a. To strike dead, depriev of the power of moving, make motionless. కదలకుండా నిలిచేటట్టు చేయు, మ్రానుపడజేయు.
