(p. 18) akalpitamu a-kalpitamu. [Skt.] adj. Not manufactured. Natural, simple, not artificial, not contrived. సహజమైన చేయబడని.

(p. 86) alaghu a-laghu. [Skt.] adj. Not light. Heavy, large, big. భారమైన. అలఘువు a-laghuvu. n. A long vowel; a sound equal to two mātras or simple sounds. గురువు, గుర్వక్షరము. అలఘుడు a-laghuḍu. n. A man of weight. A respectable man. దొడ్డవాడు, గొప్పవాడు.

(p. 117) ābālagōpālamugā ā-bāla-gōpālamu-gā. [Skt.] adv. Both small and great, one and all. ఆబాలపండిత సహాయము equally useful to the learned and the simple.

(p. 154) utta utta. [Tel.] adj. Empty, mere, bare, plain, actual, just, simple; idle, naked, vain, useless, in just, not serious, not in earnest, false. ఉత్తప్పుడు on common occasions, in general. ఉత్తదొంగపని actual theft. ఉత్త గుర్తము a horse without a rider. ఉత్తవారు persons not involved or concerned in a matter. ఇచ్చినప్పుడు ఉంటివా ఉత్తప్పుడు ఉంటివా were you present when he gave it, or at same other time?

(p. 190) erugu erugu. [Tel.] v. a. To know, be aware of, to understand. తెలిసికొను, గ్రహించు. వాడు దానిని ఎరిగి చేసినాడు he did it on purpose or intentionally, or ఎరుగక చేసిరి they did it unintentionally ఉపకారము ఎరిగినవారై being grateful, feeling one's kindness. మీరు ఎరిగియుండవలసినది I call upon you to be witness or to observe this. సత్తువయెరిగి లంకణముకట్టవలసినది let the patient be kept fasting in proportion to this strength. ఎరుగని ignorant, innocent. దేహమెరుగక being stupified, or insensible. ఎరుగవా don't you know? ఎరుగను I do not know. మేము కుడిచెయ్యి ఎడమచెయ్యి యెరుగనివారమై as we are such simple people that we do not know our right hand from our left నేను బుద్ధి యెరుగకమునుపే when I was an infant, before I knew anything. ఎరిగితెచ్చుట గాని యెరుగక కాదు I was well aware of what I was bringing: I did not bring it unknowingly. పాటు యెరుగని భాగ్యము fortune that knows no decline. ఎరుగమి erugami. n. Ignorance తెలియమి.

(p. 219) ōrasillu or ఓరసిలు ōra-sillu. [Tel.] v. n. To move sideways. To move aside తొలగు. To be removed or raised as veil. To withdraw oneself. ఓరసింపు ōrasimpu. n. Moving aside ఓరసిల్లుట.

(p. 310) kēvalamu kēvalamu. [Skt.] adj. and adv. Pure, mere, simple, unmixed, uncompounded. ఒక్కటేయైన. ఇది కేవలము బంగారు తోచేసినది this is made with gold alone. కేవలము నీళ్లేతాగినాడు he drank nothing but water. వాడు కేవలవైయాకరణుడు he is a mere grammarian. వాడు కేవల నైయాయికుడు he is a mere logician. Altogether, in every respect. అంతయున్ను: as ఈ పట్టణము కేవలము లంకవలెనున్నది this city is in every respect like Lanka. ఇది కేవలమనృతము this is entirely false. కేవలుడు kēvaluḍu. n. The supreme Spirit పరమాత్మ.

(p. 313) koṅgu kongu. [Tel.] n. A skirt, a hem. చెంగు, చెరగు, అంచు. కొంకోడుపడు or కొంగోడుపోవు kankōḍu-paḍu. v. i. To be inclined, to slant. ఒడ్డగిల్లు, ఒరుగు. 'కుక్కి వడినమిగలు గొంగోడుపోయిన.' Vishṇu. iv. 237. గుడ్డకొంగు simply means a cloth. కొంగుమాసిన menstruous, unclean.

(p. 365) gāli gāli. [Tel.] n. Wind, air, breeze. వాయువు. Scent మృగములదేహవాసన. A devil పిశాచము. plu. గాలులు. వానికి గాలి సోకినది he is possessed by a devil. గాలి విద్య an art that, like painting, depends on geniua alone and cannot be taught. గాలిమాట. a rumour. Empty talk, nonsense, లోక ప్రవాదము. గాలికుంటు a spavin, a disease that attacks horses and cattle. పిచ్చుకకుంటి, పశువులకు గొరిసెలందు పుండుపడే వ్యాధి. గాలికల a senseless or empty dream. వారిది గాలిజీవనము they live upon the wind, i.e., they have no settled means of life. గాలికుక్క gāli-kukka. n. A hound: because it follows the scent. గాలిగుడి gāli-guḍi. n. A halo round the sun or moon. పరివేషము. గాలిగాడు gāli-gāḍu. n. An ass; a fool. గాలిగుడ్డు gāli-guḍḍu. lit. A wind egg. A simpleton. Nothing, nonsense. గాలిగూళ్లు (from గూడు.) gāli-gūḷḷu. n. A mode of arranging sheaves so as to be aired. గాలిగొను gāli-gonu. v. n. To be aired. గాలిపారు. గాలిగోపురము gāli-gōpuramu. n. The dome over a temple gate: a steeple. The ornamented gate of a temple. గాలి చక్రము gāli-chakramu. n. A weather-cock. గాలిదిండి gālidinḍi. n. A snake. పాము. గాలినెచ్చెలి gāli-nechecheli. n. The friend of wind, i.e., fire. అగ్ని. గాలిపంట gāli-panṭa. n. A precarious crop. గాలిపటము or గాలిపడగ gāli-paṭamu. n. A paper kite. గాలిబిళ్లలు gāli-biḷḷalu. n. The disease called mumps. గాలిమండ or గాలిమందపశువులు gāli-manda. n. Cattle herded in the forest, which become half wild. గాలివాన gāli-vāna. n. A tempest, storm, hurricane. గాలితోడివాన, తుపాను, ఝంఝ.

(p. 394) gōla gōlā. [Tel.] n. A moan, a howl, a wailing sound; the sound of weeping; ఆలగోలబాలగోల a general howl. కాకిగోల a dismal lament, such as crows utter over a wounded crow. గోలపెట్టు to complain. గోలయెత్తు to raise the voice, wail, cry, howl. గోల n. Simplicity, inexperience. A simpleton, one who is ignorant and innocent. ముగ్ధుడు A simple girl ముగ్ధ. గోలతనము simplicity, silliness. గోలక్రోతులు gōla-krōtulu. n. A game played by boys. P. vii. 211.

(p. 408) cādastamu or చేదస్తము chādastamu. [Tel.] n. Eccentricity, whimsicality, folly, silliness. చాదస్తుడు or చేదస్తుడు chāda-studu. n. A simpleton, a dupe.

(p. 414) cittamu chittamu. [Skt.] n. The mind or intellect; the heart, considered as the seat of intellect: inclination, will, pleasure. మీచిత్తము (or simply చిత్తము) your pleasure! as you please! yes, sir! చిత్తానకు తేవలెను be so good as to consider this. ప్రవేశము చిత్తగించలవెను pray acknowledge the receipt of this letter. చిత్తానుసారముగా according to one's own pleasure or as one see fit. చిత్తగించు chitta-ginṭsu. v. a. To listen, grant attention keep or retain in mind, attend to, mind, note, observe, remark, examine, investigate. మనస్కరించు. To think, తలచు; to hear a prayer, to consider యోచించు. At the close of a letter the words చిత్తగించవలెను. 'Please to consider this' are equivalent to the phrase ('I remain, &c') అట్లు చిత్తగించినాడు he came to this decision (used of a superior.) చిత్తగించవలెను I beg you to or, do me the favor to. చిత్తచాంచల్యము chitta-chānchalyamu. n. Aberration of the intellect. Insanity. చిత్తచాంచల్యము chitta-vṛitti. n. Temper, wish, inclination, disposition. Will, pleasure, determination. చిత్రుడు and చిత్తురాలు chittuḍu. adj. Minded. This is used in compound phrases, thus: సంతోషచిత్తుడు a cheerful man. క్రూరచిత్తులై cruel-hearted. శాంతచిత్తుడు a gentle character.

(p. 433) cē chē [Tel. contracted from చేయి or చెయ్యి.] n. The hand. చెయ్యి. An elephant's trunk తొండము. చేసరచు to pat the hand. చేసంజ్ఞ a sign made with the hand. చేకానుక a present given in person. చేగలమెకము an elephant. చేగలవాడు a charitable person. చేతప్పు a slip of the pen. చేబదులు or చేతియప్పు a simple debt as distinguished from a bond debt. చే like 'hand,' when used adjectively sometimes means Small, as చేపెట్టె a hand box, చేకత్తి a small knife, చేబాడిదె a small adze. చే or చేత affix. By, through, with. తనచేనైనంతదూరి abusing them to the utmost in his power. చేకూలి chēkūli. n. Hire. చేకూలికాడు a hireling, a hired servant. B. D. v. 396.

(p. 456) chāndasa chhāndasa. [Skt.] adj. Free, subject to no rule, sacred: as the style of some ancient books which being inspired, the broken metres cannot be corrected according to prosody. ఛాందసము cḥānda-samu. n. Silliness, the stupidity of a mere bookworm, simplicity, awkwardness. That part of an almanac which lays down the (వైదికము) diurnal rites: ఛాందసుడు chhāndasuḍu. n. A textualist, a ritualist: శ్రోత్రియుడు. A mere silly book-worm: a monk.
