(p. 252) karuḍu karuḍu. [Tel.] n. A lump, mass, clot. ముద్ద. A turf. The snuff of a wick. A wave, a ripple. A daily account or day book. దినవహి. పెంటికరుడు the lesser or female surf, being the one nearest shore. పోతుకరుడు the male surf being the furthest. పిండికరుడు a piece of bread, or dough. కరుడుకట్టు karuḍu-kaṭṭu. To conglomerate or form in lumps.

(p. 317) koḍi koḍi. [Tel.] n. The tip, top, a mark, or feature. A flame. The snuff of a wick దీపపువత్తికొన. A standard or flag. చవుటి కొడినేల land that bears marks of being saltish. కొడివేయు to hoist a flag. కొడిస్తంభము a flagstaff.

(p. 318) koṇuguru or కొడుగురు koṇuguru. [Tel.] n. The snuff of a lamp. దీపుపుచిట్టెము.

(p. 374) guḍaka or కుడక guḍaka. [Tel.] n. The shell of a fruit prepared to serve as a snuff box, &c. A small box or casket. పైడిగుడక a gold box.

(p. 492) ḍabbi or డబ్బీ ḍabbi. [Tel.] n. A little box: a pill box. బరిణ. A treasure chest: a poor's box, a box to hold collections. నగలడబ్బీ a casket. ఎర్రడబ్బివిత్తులు a sort of grain. పొడిడబ్బి a snuff box.

(p. 578) daṭāyiñcu daṭā-yinṭsu. [Tel.] v. t. To chide, browbeat, snub.

(p. 625) naṅga or నంగనాచి nanga [Tel.] n. A weevil, or canker worm, a book worm, a round white worm, (also called వడ్లచిలుక and ముడికొక్కు.) which looks harmless but is destructive. Hence, a demure minx, a sly jade, a specious hypocrite. Sometimes used for a mosquito or gnat because it looks harmless దిట్టతనము కలిగియు బయటికి ఏమియు తెలియని దానివలె నుండునది. Swa. iii. 43. నంగనాచితనము nanga-nāchi-tanamu. n. Feigned simplicity. నంగిమాట nangi-māḷa. n. A nasal sound: a word pronounced through the nose. ముక్కుతో మాట్లాడినమాట. A snuffle, or twang. నంగు nangu. v. n. To speak through the nose: to speak with through the nose: to speak with a twang or snuffle. ముక్కుతో మాట్లాడు.

(p. 639) nasyamu nasyamu. [from Skt. నాసిక.] n. Snuff; any powder, or liquid which physicians prescribe to be snuffed up into the nose. నస్యముపిడుచు to express the juice of any herb into the nose. నస్యము వేయు to use such a medicine.

(p. 759) pisaru pisaru. [Tel.] n. Stuff, trash, waste matter. The wash or refuse of grain. Matter in the eye, humour, pus. Any thing worthless, a mere trifle, a small quantity, లేశము. పిసరంతపొడి a pinch of snuff. పిసరువెళ్లతొక్కినారు they beat the stuff out of him. ఆ పని చేయుటలో వానిపిసరు వెళ్లినది he was quite exhausted in doing the business.

(p. 805) poḍi poḍi. [Tel.] n. Powder, dust. చూర్ణము. Solder, rosin, metallic cement. పొడి or ముక్కుపొడి snuff. పొడిపెట్టిఊదు to solder. చెరుకుకట్టెలపొడి pounded sugar, శర్కర. B. D. iii. 324. చొక్కుపొడి love powder. ఆ పిల్లవానిని చొక్కుపొడివేసి పట్టుకొని పోయినారు they deluded him with love powder and carried him off, ఆ పిల్లవానిని మరుల మురుచల్లి పట్టుకొనిపోయినారు. పొడిమిరియము or మిరియపుపొడి powdered pepper. R. vii. 105. adj. Dry, ఎండిన. Powdered. Small, young. పొడికూర a curry fried without butter in a dry pan. పొడికూర mizzle, drizzling rain. పొడరాళ్లు bricks broken into pieces, brick-dust. పొడిబెల్లము pound ed jaggery. పొడికావ్యము a petty poem. పొడిపిట్ట a kind of bird. 'భిట్టువ, మునుగపూబిట్టువ, గిజిగాడు, ఉల్లెడ, పొడిపిట్ట, వంగపండు.' H. iii. 14. పొడిముత్యాలు seed pearl. పొడిమన్ను dry earth. పొడిచెమట imperceptible perspiration. పొడి బియ్యము dry rice. పొడిపడ్డవాతెరలు lips parched with grief. పొడిదగ్గు a dry cough. పొడి చీకటి poḍi-chīkaṭi. n. Twilight, darkness. పొడిచేయు or పొడికొట్టు poḍi-chēyu. To powder. పసుపుపొడిచేసినది she triturated or pulverized the turmeric. పొడిపొడిగా poḍi-poḍi-gā. adv. In pieces, piece meal, in the form of powder. Very dry.

(p. 806) poḍumu poḍumu. [Tel.] n. Powder, snuff, పొడుముకాయ or పొడుంకాయ poḍumu-kāya. n. A snuff box.

(p. 807) potti potti. [Tel.] n. A thin soft, old cloth, మెత్తని సన్నని పాత వస్త్రము. An integument, coat; skin, bark. నార, పట్ట. కొబ్బరిగల మొదలైనవారిని పొదిగియుండేది. Also, a torch, దివిటీ. పోకపొత్తి the coat or skin covering the upper part of an areca tree. అరిటిపొత్తి the coat or skin on a plantain tree. పొడుముపొత్తి a snuff box, (literally, a piece of bark folded to contain snuff.) పొత్తి or పొత్తిగుడ్డ baby linen. పొత్తినూలు fibres used in garments made of bark. M. XII. vi. 221. పొత్తిపంచ bombasine cloth, woven of silk mixed with cotton. పొత్తిక pottika. n. Same as పొత్తి. Doll's clothes, a gaudy dress for an idol or for a little girl. 'బొమ్మపొత్తికలడిగితికొమ్మ యిందమనుచునిచ్చె తాదెచ్చిన యుంబరములు.' M. IV. v. 308. పొత్తికడుపు potti-kaḍupu. n. The abdomen, or belly below the navel. వస్తి, క్రీగడుపు. పొత్తిగడ్డ potti-gaḍḍa. n. A certain medicinal root called కరికారి, విశల్య, పొత్తిదుంప. పొత్తిచీర potti-chīra. n. Cloth made from the fibres of the bark of certain trees. నారచీర. పొత్తితామర potti-tāmara. n. A species of the lotus flower which does not open wide, ముడుగుతామర, నమస్కారి. పొత్తినూలు potti-nūlu. n. Silk thread. పొత్తినూలికాయ or పొత్తినూలిగూడు potti-nūli-kāya. n. A cocoon. పొత్తిలి pottili. n. Baby linen. పొత్తిగుడ్డలు. 'లీలబొత్తిలిమీద లేచి కుర్చుండుచో తద్దయునొక క్రొత్తముద్దుచెలువు.' KP. vi. 207. పొత్తిలి సొర or నల్లదిండి pottili-sora. n. A kind of gourd, Rhynchobatus ancylostomus.

(p. 868) baraṇi , బరిణ, బరిణె or భరిణ baraṇi. [Tel.] n. A casket, small jewel-case, snuff box, pill box. కటాటము. పాచికలబరిణ a dice-box. బరణిచుక్క or భరణి bharaṇi-ṭsukka. n. The second lunar mansion consisting of three stars in a triangle.

(p. 869) bariṇa or బరిణె bariṇa. [Tel.] n. A little box. పొడిబరిణె a snuff box. బరిడెగవ్వ or బరిణెగవ్వ bariḍe-gavva. n. A kind of cake, భక్ష్యవిశేషము. హంస. i. బరిణపురుగు or బరిడెపురుగు bariṇa-purugu. n. A cockroach. బొద్దింక, బొద్దీగ.

The skull or head. తలపుర్రె. బుక్కాబుర్ర a pouneet box. ఇత్తడి బుర్ర a brass box. సొరబుర్ర the empty shell of a long gourd. సొరబుర్ర or కొలబుర్ర a swimming gourd or a float. కీచుబుర్రలతలగడ a creaking pillow. HD. i. 1668. దొంతిబుర్రలకాయ a cocoanut or other shell of a peculiar indented shape. adj. Large, పెద్ద బుర్రకత్తి burra-katti. n.
