(p. 32) aṭṭu or అట్టుగా aṭṭu. [Tel.] adv. (A particle) So that, as, according to. అతడు వచ్చేటట్టు వ్రాయుము write a letter so that he may come. మీరు చెప్పినట్టుగా చేస్తిని I did as you bid me. ఆయన చెప్పినట్టు according to his order. వాడు ఇంకా అవతలకు పోవునట్టు అగుపడ్డాడు he seemed as though he would go further. నేను చెప్పినట్టు చేసినాడు he did as I said. వారు సాగిపోయినట్టుగా చెప్పెను he said that they had passed on. అట్టు గాక or అట్లాకాక aṭṭugāka. adv. Without being so. అట్టుల aṭṭula. adv. As soon as, soon after. వెంటనే. 'చెట్టు దిగి వచ్చినట్టుల.' H. ii. 47. Just as. ఆప్రకారము. అట్టే (for అట్లాగే) aṭṭē. [Tel.] adv. Thus. So. In the same manner, as it was. అట్టే ఉండనీ leave it as it is. నొప్పి అట్టే ఉన్నది the pain is in the same state. అట్టే పోయినాడు he went off straightway. అట్టే మాట్లాడుతూ ఉండినాడు he was talking straight on. ఆ గుర్రములట్టే ఉన్నవి the horses are as they were: they are untouched.

(p. 89) alikiḍi or అలుకుడు alikiḍi. [Tel.] n. Noise, sound. ధ్వని, చప్పుడు. వారి మాటల అలికిడి వల్ల మేలుకొన్నాడు I was awakened by the sound of their talking.

(p. 169) uruvaḍi uruvaḍi. [Tel.] n. Violence, impetuosity, speed, haste. ఉరవడి. ఉరువడించు uru-vaḍinṭsu. v. n. & a. To be energetic, to bully, to roar or thunder in talking. To flourish, shine forth, display. To gain, win, conquer. విజృంభించు, గెలుచు. 'ప్రజకనురాగమైన పరిపాలన శాంతియు సంగరంబునన్ విజిత విభీతమై యుగవడించుట యున్న్నృపధర్మముల్.' Appakavi. ii. 483.

(p. 188) eddu eddu. [Tel.] n. A bullock, an ox; (plural ఎద్దులు, ఎడ్లు.) ఎద్దునాలుక Ox-tongue, a kind of plant, Phlouns or Bremma esculenta or Elephantopus scaber. దర్పకము. ఎద్దుపట్టు eddu-paṭṭu. v. a. To geld an ox ఎద్దుకు పిచ్చలుతీయు. ఎద్దుబలువు eddu-baluvu. n. A bullock load. ఎద్దుముట్టె eddu-muṭṭe. (from ముట్టె a nozzle) a sort of root. ఎద్దులవాడు or ఎడ్లవాడు eddulavāḍu. n. A bullock driver. ఎద్దువేట (R. ii. 29.) n. The use of a bullock as a screen for the huntsman, like a stalking horse.

(p. 683) noḍi or నుడి noḍi. [Tel.] n. A word. మాట. నొడికాడు or నుడికాడు noḍi-kāḍu. n. A talkative person. మాటలమారి. నొడికారము or నుడికారము noḍi-kāramu. n. Talkativeness. Cleverness in talking. నొడికారపుమాటలు clever words. నొడికారి or నుడికారి noḍi-kari n. One who can talk cleverly. మాటల చమత్కారముగలవాడు.

(p. 724) palavariñcu, palaviñcu or పలవు palavarinṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To use broken words or exclamations. ప్రలాపించు, విలపించు. పలవరింత or పలవరము palavarinta. n. Prattling, talking confusedly, ప్రలాపించుట. ప్రలాపము.

(p. 727) pallarapulu pallarapulu [Tel. పలు+అరపులు.] n. Several cries, many useless words, much useless talking. వ్యర్థమైన పెక్కు మాటలు, ఆడరాని పెక్కుమాటలు. పల్లరపు pullarapu. adj. Simple, innocent. బేలైన. 'వానిని యల్కదొల్కయదునాయకుడిట్లనెబోంట్లజూతులన్ భావముమర్మకర్మములు ప్రౌఢతనంబును తంతమ్యముల్ కోవిదకోటికేతెలిసి కోదగు నింతియె కాక కానలం గోవుల మేపుపల్లరపుగొల్లని కిందెలియంగ నేర్చునే.' Ila. iii. 181.

(p. 876) bātākhānī bātā-khānī. [H.] n. A loquacious person. Vain talking.

(p. 970) māṭa māṭa. [Tel.] n. A word, పదము. A promise, వాగ్దత్తము, ప్రతిజ్ఞావచనము. Slander, నింద. Opinion, rumour, వృత్తాంతము. అతడు నీ మాట చెప్పలేదు he did not speak of you. ఇది వేరే మాట this is another affair, another thing. వానిమాటకాదు this is not about him, I am not talking about him. గడియకు ఒకమాట చెప్పినాడు he changed his mind every hour. మంచిమాట (interj.) Very well. దాన్ని గురించి రెండో మాటలేదు there is no alternative. వారివిద్ద మాటలుపడినాడు he was reproached or reprimanded by them. In some phrases the word మాట need not be translated. Thus, ఆమె తిరిగీ వస్తున్నదనేమాట తెలిసి knowing that she would return. నేను దానిని కొన్నమాట రూఢి it is very true I bought it. ఆమాటే యెరుగను I know nothing of it. ఇందుచేత మాటవచ్చును by this you will get into disgrace. అతడు మాటతప్పలేదు he did not fail in his promise. మాట తప్పినవాడు మాలవాడు a promise breaker is a pariah, i.e., is a mean wretch. నేను పోయినమాట వానికి ఎట్లా తెలిసినది how did he know that I was gone? అతడు పోయేమాట ఉండేమాటా does he propose to go or stay? వాడు ఉండేమాట యింకా తెలియలేదు I do not as yet know that he will remain. మాటకుమాట word for word, literally. నా మాట అడుగుదాటకు transgress not my command. తనమీద మాటరాకుండా ఇట్లా చేసెను he did this to avoid blame. మాటవినుట to obey. ఎంతమాట what nonsense! వానిమాట వాని ఒడిలో వేసినాను I acted as he desired. నీకు మాట నాకు మూట a command is easy to give but hard to perform, or a word from you will make me rich. వెయ్యిమాటలేల why discuss it at length, in a word. ఆ పెండ్లి మాట యీ గ్రంథములో లేదు there is no mention of the marriage in this book నామాటవేరు, నీమాట వేరు I say one thing you say another, my opinion is different from yours, my case is quite different from yours. వానికి నాకు మాటలు లేవు he and I are not on speaking terms. వానితో నీకేమిమాటలు why do you speak with him? ఈమాట వింటే ఆయన యేమనును if he hears of this what will he say? కడపటిమాటయేమి what was the upshot of the business? ఇప్పట్లో వాని మాట సాగదు he has now no influence. కడకు వానిమాటే ముందరికివచ్చినది at last his words proved true. దానిని గురించి ఇంకా యేమాటా తెలియలేదు I do not yet know the result. మాటలకు పట్టుకొంటే విడవడు if he begins talking he will never stop. అదెక్కడిమాట what nonsense! such a thing is impossible. మాటలు మంచివే కాణి మనసు మంచిదికాదు he talks well but has a bad heart. ఇంకా మాటలు రాని బిడ్డ a child that cannot yet speak. వానికి ఆ ఊరిలో మాట వాసికద్దు లేక మాట సాగుతుంది he has influence in the town. ఆయన మాటకు ఎదురులేదు his word is law. మాటలకుమాత్రము పేదరికములేదు as far as words go he is rich enough. ఒక మాట యిచ్చి పదిమాటలు తీసుకొన్నాడు his reproaches were returned ten-fold. మాటకాడు māṭa-kāḍu. n. A good public speaker, సభయందు భయములేక మాటాడువాడు, వక్త. మాటకారి māṭa-kāri. n. A skilful speaker, యుక్తిగా మాటాడువాడు. A talkative person, వాచాలుడు. మాటలమారి māṭala-māri. n. A talkative person, మిక్కిలి మాటాడువాడు. మాటలాడు, మాటాడు or మాట్లాడు māṭa-l-āḍu. v. n. To speak, talk, converse, to reproach. నన్నెందుకు ఊరికె మాటలాడుతావు why reproach me for nothing? S. iii. 41.

(p. 1098) lapanamu lapanamu. [Skt.] n. The face or countenance. ముఖము. The mouth. నోరు, Voice, talking. మాట్లాడడము. A word, మాట. 'కళదేరుకస్తూరి తిలకంబువాసనల్ లపన గంధములకులంచమోవసగ.' H. iv. 84. లపితము lapitamu. adj. Said, spoken. చెప్పబడినది.n. Voice, speech, a word. మాట.

(p. 1112) lōkamu lōkamu. [Skt.] n. A world, a division of the universe as heaven, earth, and hell. భువనము. The human race, mankind, జనము. Heaven; (metaphorically) a palace. ఇంద్రలోకము. 'ప్రాణిలోకంబు బాధలబరచునపుడు.' Swa. iii. 58. దానికి బిడ్డలమీదనేలోకము she gives herself entirely to her children, or her children are all the world to her. లోకత్రయము the universe, lit. the three worlds. లోకాభిరామముగా మాట్లాడుచుండగా while they were talking on various matters. లోకప్రవాదము a common saying, current report, town talk, వదంతి. లోకబాంధవుడు lōka-bāndhavuḍu. n. The universal friend i.e., the sun, సూర్యుడు. లోకమాత loka-māta. n. An epithet of Lakshmi. లోకాలోకము lōkā-lōkamu. n. A mountainous belt bounding the world. చక్రవాళపర్వతము. లోకారాధ్యుడు lōk-āradhyuḍu. n. The universally adored, i. e., God, the Lord. ఈశ్వరుడు. లోకులు lōkulu. n. plu. People, folk the community, జనులు. లోకులేమందరు what will people say? లోకేశుడు lōk-ēṣuḍu. n. The lord of the world, i.e., Bramha, చతుర్ముఖుడు. A king, రాజు. లోకోక్తి lōk-ōkti. n. A proverb, సామెత. లోకోత్తరము lōk-ōttaramu. adj. Best in the world. శ్రేష్ఠమైన.

(p. 1148) vāca vācha. [Skt.] n. Another form of వాక్కు. (q. v.) వాచంయముడు vacham-yamuḍu. n, A sage or prophet, మునీశ్వరుడు, మౌని. వాచకము vāchakamu. n. A word, a significant sound, శాస్త్రశిక్షిత వాక్కు, వాచ్యార్థమును తెలుపుశబ్దము. (Vulgarly) fluency in reading, వడిగాచదివేశక్తి. వాచస్పతి vāchas-pati. n. The lord of speech, i.e., Brihaspati. వాచా vāchā. adv. Orally, verbally, viva voce, by word of mouth. ఆయన వాచా చెప్పినాడు he said it orally. వాచాటుడు or వాచాలుడు vāchāṭuḍu. n. A talkative man, one who talks idly or blamably, a tattler, వాగుపోతు, ప్రేలేవాడు, మాటకారి. 'వాచాటులగు జరఠవనితలు.' A. iv. 43. వాచాలము vāchālamu. adj. Chattering, talkative, gabbling, talking much. ప్రేలే, వాగే, పనికిమాలిన మాటలాడే. వాచాలత or వాచాలత్వము vāchālata. n. Talkativeness, readiness or fluency of speech, tattling, ప్రేలడము, వాగడము, తరచుగా మాటలాడడము. 'రాజెల్కలున్ వాచాలత్వముజూపె.' G. vii. 10. వాచించు vāchinṭsu. v. a. To tell, చెప్పు. To read, చదువు. వాచికము vāchikamu. n. News, intelligence, tidings. చెప్పిపంపించిన వర్తమానము, సమాచారము. 'కాంచన పత్రికావళుల గౌతుకమాచక వాచికంబు వ్రాయించిసమస్తదేశ వసు ధేశులకంపిన.' Vasu. v. 80. టీ వాచికము, సమదేశవాక్కు. వాచ్యము vāchyamu. adj. Fit or proper to be spoken or said. చెప్పదగిన. Blameworthy, vile,contemptible, low, out-caste. నిందింపదగిన, నింద్యము, హీనము.
