(p. 99) aśvini aṣvini. [Skt.] n. The first lunar mansion. మొదటి నక్షత్రము. The twins in the zodiac; the head of the Aries or the 1st of the 28 Nakshatras or lunar mansions.

(p. 76) āyanamu ayanamu. [Skt.] n. Road, path. Half a year. Motion, course. మార్గము, అర్ధవత్సరము, సూర్యుని దక్షిణోత్తరగతి. ఉత్తరాయనము or ఉత్తరాయణము the sun's course for six months in the northern constellations of the zodiac. దక్షిణాయనము the sun's course for six months in the southern constellations of the zodiac. అయనకాలము the interval between the equinoxes. ఆయన భాగము the arc between the vernal equinoctial point and the beginning of the fixed zodiac or first point in Aries. ఆయన వలనము deviation of the ecliptic. అయనవృత్తము the ecliptic.

(p. 619) dhanuvu or ధనుస్సు dhanuvu. [Skt.] n. A bow. విల్లు. The arc of a circle. The sign Sagittarius in the zodiac. ధనురాకారము danur-ākāramu. n. The shape of a bow. ధనుర్ధరుడు, ధనుష్మంతుడు or ధానుష్కుడు dhanur-dharuḍu. n. An archer. విలుకాడు. ధనుర్మార్గము dhanur-mārgamu. n. A curved line: an arc.

(p. 1043) mosali mosali. [Tel.] n. A crocodile. మకరము, నక్రము. A monster. Capricorn in the Zodiac. మొసలికట్టు, మొసలిచేదు or మొసలిరాష్టి mosali-katṭu. n. The liver of a crocodile. మొసలిరాసి the sign of the zodiac called Capricorn, మకరరాశి. మొసలివాపోగు mosali-vā-pōgu. n. An earring with the face of a crocodile engraved on it. మొసలివా, మొసలివాయి or మొసలికాటు mosali-vā. n. The hilt of a sword shaped like a crocodile, మకరముఖాకృతిగల త్సర్వగ్రము.

(p. 1203) vṛścikamu vṛiṣchikamu. [Skt.] n. A scorpion. తేలు. The Sign Scorpio of the zodiac.

(p. 1250) śiṃśumāramu ṣimṣu-māramu. [Skt.] n. A crocodile, మొసలి. A whale, పిడక మొసలి. The zodiac, సూర్యచంద్రాదులు తిరిగేచక్రము. 'అనయంబు శింశు మారాకృతినున్న జ్యోతిశ్చక్రమును తదధిష్ఠితార్క చంద్రాదులను.' Vish. iii. 269. 'నీలాంగము శింశుమారమెగ యంగాబెంపవేవామనా.' A. iv. 29. 'శింశుమార చక్రవికాసితంబై మెరువునుం బరుడించు తత్తీరంబున.' (p. 1271) saṅkramamu san-kramamu. [Skt.] n. Difficult progress, advance through difficulties. The transit of a planetary body through the zodiac, గమనము, గతి, సూర్యాదిగ్రహములు ఒకరాశినుండి మరియొకరాశికి పోవడము. A causeway, a bridge, వంతెన. సంక్రమణము san-kramaṇamu. n. The passage of the sun or planetary body from one sign of the zodiac into another. సూర్యాది గ్రహములు ఒకరాశిని విడిచి మరియొక రాశికి పోవడము. సంక్రమించు san-kraminṭsu. v. a. To encroach on, ఆక్రమించు. To enter, ప్రవేశించు. సంక్రాంతి san-krānti. n. The transit of the sun or a planetary body from one sing of the zodiac into another; particularly applied to the passage of the sun from Sagittarius to Capricornus in January when the Hindus celebrate the Pongal (పొంగలి) feast సూర్యాదిగ్రహములు ఒక రాశిలోనుండి మరియొక రాశికి పోవడము, ముఖ్యముగా సూర్యుడు మకరములో ప్రవేశించేది మకరసంక్రాంతి.
