(p. 165) uppu uppu. [Tel.] n. Salt. పెట్లుప్పు saltpetre. రాతి ఉప్పు rook salt. వెదురు ఉప్పు a sort of gum (tabasheer. Ainslie 1. 420.) found in the hollows of the bamboo. కప్పురంబు పెట్టి ఉప్పు కొనుట. (A. vi. 75.) To give camphor for salt, that is, what is valuable for what is worthless. ఉప్పుకండ uppu-kaṇḍa. n. Dried flesh, salt meat. ఉప్పుకాయ uppu-kāya. n. Salted fruit, pickle. ఉప్పు కాపడమిచ్చు to foment with heated salt. ఉప్పుకల్లు or ఉప్పురాయి a grain of salt. ఉప్పుచేప uppu-chēpa. n. To moulder. ఉప్పురిసిపోయిన mouldering, dilapidated. కప్పురిసిన యిల్లు a house that sweats salt or that is going to decay. ఉప్పు సముద్రము uppu-samudramu. n. The ocean or salt sea.

(p. 285) kīcakamu kīchakamu. [Skt.] n. A hollow bamboo. కీచకతండులము (Kalahas. Mah. iii. 48.) the pearls of gum (tabasheer) found inside bamboos. కీచకస్వనము a hollow groaning sound, as that of the wind passing the mouth of a tube.

(p. 413) ciṭlu or చిటులు chiṭlu. [Tel.] v. n. To snap, split, crack (as a fruit), burst. వెంట్రుక చిట్లినది a hair has split. చిట్లని unblown, unopened. చిట్లుకట్టె a person of a very irritable temper. మిక్కిలి కోపము గలవాడు. చిట్లుజిట్ట chiṭlu-jiṭṭa. n. The Nilgiri Flower-pecker. Dicæum Concolor, or, the Thick-billed Flower-pecker. Piprisoma squalidam. (F.B.I.) చిట్లించు chiṭlinṭsu. v. a. To crack, break. To burst, split. A. i. 23. v. n. To break, snap, crack, split, burst or be chopped, as the ground, the skin, paint, or the lips in fever. T. iv. 85. ముఖము చిట్లించు to frown. ముఖము చిట్లించుకొన్నారు they changed colour, were abashed, they looked sulky. చిట్లింతకూర chiṭlinta-kūra. n. A herb used in curries. Marselia Minuta. Heyne.

(p. 1047) mōmu mōmu. [From Skt. ముఖము; and another form of మొగము.] n. The face, or countenance. 'మోమరసేయువాడు మరముక్కిని గాంచునె యెన్ని భంగులన్.' Vēma. 1465. వాని మోము చిన్నపోయినది he was abashed, his countenance fell. See ముగము. మోమోడు mōm-ōḍu. (మోము + ఓడు.) v. n. To yield, fall into temptation: to comply wrongly, దాక్షిణ్యపడు. 'ఏచందంబునంచల్పి పొమ్మను మోమోడక యంచనున్ బతిని బాయన్ జసితే దైవమా.' URK. vi. 384. మోమోట or మోమోటము Same as మొగమోటము. See under మొగము.

(p. 1187) vilakṣamu vi-lakshamu. [Skt.] adj. Astonished, surprised, abashed, ashamed. ఆశ్చర్యముగల, సిగ్గుపడ్డ. విలక్షుడు vila-kshuḍu n. One who is astonished or surprised, వెరగుపడ్డవాడు. One who is ashamed, సిగ్గుపడినవాడు.
