(p. 38) aḍḍamu aḍḍamu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, A screen. అభ్యంతరము, ఆటంకము, చటు. A pledge తాకట్టు నీ మాటకు అడ్డము లేదు no one will resist you. వాండ్లకు మాకు గోడ అడ్డముగా ఉండినది there was a wall between them and us. ఒక నగను అడ్డము పెట్టి యిరువైరూపాయలు తెచ్చినాడు he pawned a jewel and got twenty rupees. నా పనికి అడ్డము వచ్చినాడు he opposed my endeavours. మొగుణ్ని అడ్డముపెట్టుకొని తానే అన్ని పనులు చూచుకొనిపోయినది she used her husband as a screen and carried on the business. వాడు తండ్రికి అడ్డమాడుతాడు he opposes or contradicts his father. తిరుపతికి పోయేలోగా మూడేళ్లు అడ్డమువస్తవి there are three rivers to cross on the way to Tirupati. ఏదో ఒకటి వచ్చి అడ్డముపడినది something has got in the way. వానికి అడ్డము తగిలినారు they interrupted him. కొంతదూరము దోవనే పోయి అవతల అడ్డము తిరిగినాడు or అడ్డము తొక్కినాడు he went along some way and then cut across. 'కరాగ్రములు దృష్టులకడ్డమిడుచు.' BD. iv. 1532. అడ్డముగా aḍḍamu-gā. [Tel.] adv. Crosswise, across, transversely. చెట్టు కండ్లకు అడ్డముగానున్నది the tree intercepts the view, నేను అడ్డముగా నిలిస్తిని I stood in his way.

(p. 115) ānakaṭṭa āna-kaṭṭa. [Tel.] n. Anicut. A dam or embankment across a river to raise its level artificially.

(p. 209) oḍḍu oḍḍu. [Tel.] v. a. To place, put, lay, heap up. To fix, set, cast. To rival. To wager పందెమిడు. To spread (a net), &c. చాచు, పరచు. To oppose అడ్డగించు. To lend an ear to, to listen. చెవియొడ్డు; leap across దాటు. నెమళ్లుపురలొడ్డి the peacocks having spread their tails.

(p. 227) kambuvu kambuvu. [Skt.] n. A large shell or conch, pearly white and marked with three ridges across the inner tube. కంబుకంఠి or కంబుగ్రీవ kambu-kaṇṭhi. adj. Fair throated: having a neck as beautiful as a shell.

(p. 234) kaḍacanu kaḍa-ṭsanu. [Tel.] v. i. To die చచ్చు. To perish నసించు. To end, to be finished ముగియు. v. t. To leap across, to cross దాటు. కడచన్నపసిడి pure gold.

(p. 234) kaḍacu or గడచు kaḍaṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To elapse, pass గతించు. To exceed a limit. మేరమీరు, హెచ్చు (Metaphorically) to die చచ్చు. To perish నశించు. v. t. To leap across, to cross దాటు. To pass (time), to finish. వారికి గడవకుండానున్నది they have nothing to live on. నాకు అన్నానికి గడవదు I have nothing to live on. ఇది లేకుండ నాకు గడవదు I cannot get on without this. కడవబడు Same as కడచు.

(p. 237) kattuva kattuva. [Tel.] n. A wooden spade with a triangular blade. A dam across a stream. A dam, mole or bank ఆనకట్ట.

(p. 267) kāki kāki. [Tel. lit that which says kā, kā.] n. A crow. అడవికాకి the jungle crow or Corvus macrorhynchus. మంచి కాకి or ఊరకాకి the Indian house crow, corvus splendens. (F.B.I.) This word sometimes denotes depreciation as కాకి బంగారు false gold, tinsel. కాకిదొండపండు the wild cherry. దేశకాకి, or దేశమ్మకాకి a wandering wretch or vagrant. సముద్రపుకాకి an osprey. నీరుకాకి a cormorant. ఇనుపముక్కు కాకి the giant vulture or king of the vultures. మూలకాకి a raven. బొంతకాకి a raven. కాకిచంపు విత్తులు kāki-champu-vittulu. Same as కాకమారి (q. v.) కాకిచావు kāki-ṭsāsu. n Apoplexy, sudden death. కాకిచిప్ప kaki chippa. n. A bivalve shell. కాకిచెమ్మలు or కాకితీపు or కాకిసోమాల or కాకిసొమ్మ kāki-chemmalu. n. Fainting, epilepsy. కాకబాతు kāki-bātu. n. A brown species of wild duck. కాకిరెక్కలు kāki-rekkalu. n. The grain called millet. కాకివెదురు kāki-veduru. n. A reed.

(p. 1401) gañjikōlu ganji-kālu. [Tel.] n. A bent knee. గంజికాలు పట్టుకోంటాము we will catch (your) bent knee and carry you across (the stream).

(p. 376) gudiya gudiya. [Tel.] n. A club, a mace, a cudgel. A clog fastened to a cross cow. గుదియ కర్రలు gudiya-karralu. n. (In house building) small sticks placed across the rafters. గుదిగుంజలు. గుదియతాలుపు gudiya-tālupu. n. Lit. The mace-bearer, i.e., Yama, the god of death. దండధరుడు. గుదిపడు gudi-paḍu. v. t. To be tied up కట్టుపడు. To shudder, shiver, tremble. వణకు. 'గుదిపడుచున్న నెన్నడుము.' Padma P. iii. 36.

(p. 442) caparālu ṭsapa-rālu. [Tel.] n. Small beams across the corners of a roof.

(p. 512) tariṭi or తరిటీ tariṭi. [Tel.] n. A large sack filled at both ends and laid across a bullock. రెండు పెండెలు బిగించే గోనెపట్టా.

(p. 520) tāgallu , తాగాడి or తాగాణి tāgallu. [Tel. తాకు+కల్లు or కాడి.] n. The stone beam placed across the mouth of a well: పరుపు జిమ్మ, నూతిమీద నడ్డముగా వేసే కర్ర లేక రాయి.

(p. 531) tiryakku tiryakku. [Skt.] adj. Moving crookedly, writhing. అడ్డముగా పోవునది. Moving, animate. తిర్యగ్విధముగా tortuously. Turned away, as the face. తిర్యక్పుండ్రము a mark drawn across the forehead. తిర్యగ్జంతువు or తిర్యగ్జీవి tiryag-jantuvu. n. An animal, a bird, a snake, &c., as being prone or having the face downwards in distinction from man who stands erect. తర్యగ్యోనిజము tiryag-yōnijamu. adj. Animated, born from the womb of a living being, as distinguished from plants. 'తర్యగ్యోనిజన్మము.' V. P. iv. 2.

(p. 567) tōraṇamu or తోరణ tōraṇamu. [Skt.] n. A wreath, a garland, a festoon of leaves, &c., hung over a doorway or across a road, &c. A gate. ద్వారము. A pack or tobacco weighing from two to ten seers. మాంసపు తోరణములు strings of mutton chops hung across the room. జ్వాలా తోరణము a bonfire. తోరణపట్టె tāraṇ-paṭṭe. n. The cross bar of a winch. (కపిల.)
