Telling. చెప్పుట An episode of a book, a tale or fable, an ancient story. ఆఖ్యేయము ākhyēyamu. adj. Fit to be said or rehearsed.

(p. 114) ādi ādi. [Skt.] n. The beginning. మొదలు Also, an aim గురి. ఆదిని at the beginning, at first. ఆదిముని an ancient prophet. ఆదిశేషువు ādi-ṣēshuvu. [Skt.] n. (p. 126) āḷvāru āḷvāru. [Drav.] n. A Vaishnava name for a saint. The Alwars or saints were twelve in number and are considerd to have been incarnations of the attendants, arms, or insignia of Vishnu: each of them wrote a portion of the 'Dravida Prabandham,' or 'Tamil Veda' help in greater veneration that the original Sanskrit Veda, of which it is, in fact, an ancient Tamil translation (Ellis.) The పరమయోగివిలాసము is a history of these personages. A hawk is sometimes called గరుడాళ్వారు.

(p. 227) kampu kampu. [Skt.] n. A smell వాసన. A stink దుర్గంధము. In ancient Telugu this denoted any scent, pleasant or not. P. i. 703. A. i. 87. కంపుకొట్టు kampu-koṭṭu. v. n. To smell, to stink. కంపిరుగుడు or కంపుటిరుగుడు kamp-iruguḍu. n. The stinking ఇరుగుడు. See కంపుతుమ్మ చెట్టు kampu-tumma-cheṭṭu. n. The field Mimosa tree. కంపునాగు kampu-nāgu. n. What is long lived: (particularly) a crow. కాకి. adj. Long lived. చిరకాలము జీవించువాడు. This is a term of affection, implying a blessing, often used to inferiors, children, younger brothers or other relations. చిరంజీవులైన మాసీతారామయ్య my brother Sītāräma; చిరంజీవులైన కొల్లా వెంకన్నభార్య గతించిన సంగతి regarding the death of our dear cousin's wife. చిరంతనము or చిరత్నము chirantanamu. adj. Old, ancient, antiquated. బహుదినములది, పాతది.

Free, subject to no rule, sacred: as the style of some ancient books which being inspired, the broken metres cannot be corrected according to prosody. ఛాందసము cḥānda-samu. n. Silliness, the stupidity of a mere bookworm, simplicity, awkwardness. That part of an almanac which lays down the (వైదికము) diurnal rites: ఛాందసుడు chhāndasuḍu. n. A textualist, a ritualist: శ్రోత్రియుడు. A mere silly book-worm: a monk.
