(p. 71) abhiṣēkamu abhi-shēkamu. [Skt.] n. Installation by anointing, initiation, royal unction, bathing, anointing, inauguration. స్నానము, మునక, పట్టముకట్టడము. దేవునికి అభిషేకము అయిన తరువాత after the idol was bathed. తైలాభిషేకము anointing with oil. చూర్ణాభిషేకము a particular rite of pouring turmeric powder over the head of an idol on the sixth day of the annual feast called బ్రహ్మోత్సవము. పట్టాభిషేకము coronation of a king. పట్టాభిషేకము చేయు to crown a king. రాజు ఆ కవికి స్వర్ణాభిషేకము చేసినాడు the prince showered bounties upon the poet. అన్నాభిషేకము చేయు to pour boiled rice over an image. అభిషేకించు v. t. To bathe, anoint. తల అంటు, మునిగించు. అభిషిక్తము abhi-shitkamu. [Skt.] adj. Installed by anointing, bathed, anointed. పట్టము కట్టబడిన, స్నానము చేయింపబడిన. అభిషిక్తుడు. n. He who is inagurated or installed, he who is bathed or anointed. పదప్రాప్తుడు, పట్టము కట్టబడినవాడు, స్నాతుడు. అభిషేచనము abhi-shēchanamu. [Skt.] n. Sprinkling, inauguration.

(p. 72) abhyaṅgamu , అభ్యంగనము or అభ్యంజనము abhyangamu. [Skt.] n. Rubbing the body with an unctuous substance. Anointing, oiling. తలంటు. అభ్యంజనము చేసికొను to anoint one's self. అభ్యంజనస్నానము an oil bath.

(p. 98) avva avva. [Tel.] n. A grandmother, a mother: any old or respectable woman. జననీజనకులతల్లి, తల్లి, పూజ్యురాలు. అవ్వపండు avva-paṇḍu. n. A certain scarlet fruit called in Tamil చౌరిప్పమ్ శౌ?Eరిపండు శౌరిపండు. It is boiled in oil to anoint the head. అవ్వరో interj. O madam!

(p. 182) egādigā or ఎగదిగ egā-digā. [Tel.] adv. Up and down, backwards and forwards, from head to foot. ఎగువదిగువలుగా. వాడు నూనెను ఒళ్లంతా యెగాదిగా రాచుకొన్నాడు he anointed himself from head to foot.

(p. 515) talaṇṭu or తలగడుగు talanṭu. [Tel. తల+అంటు.] v. a. To anoint the head. తలమీద నూనెరాచు. n. Anointing the head. అభ్యంగము.

(p. 593) digdhamu digdhamu. [Skt.] adj. Smeared, anointed. n. A poisoned arrow.

(p. 676) nemuru nemuru. [Tel.] v. a. To rub. తైలము వేసి కాళ్లు నెమిరితే నొప్పులు తీయును anointing the legs with oil and rubbing them relieves pain.

(p. 686) paṅkena pankena. [Skt.] n. Wet. తడి, పదను. Oiling, anointing, smoothing the hair with oil. 'సీ పాపటయిడి నూనె పంకెనతో నున్నగాదువ్వి నెరులు కీల్గంటునైచు.' H. ii. 158.

(p. 780) pūyu pūyu. [Tel.] v. n. To bear or produce, as flowers. పూచు ఆ భూమి ఉప్పుపూస్తున్నది that ground produces salt. v. a. To smear, besmear, daub, anoint, lay on, apply (oil, paint. medicine, &c.) ఒంటికి గంధము పూసికొనుట rubbing oneself with sandal paste. పూయించు pūyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to apply or smear, paint, oil, &c. ఇంటికి సున్నము పూయించితిని or వేయించితిని I got my house whitewashed.

(p. 1017) mūrdhamu mūrdhamu. [Skt.] n. The head. తల. ముర్ధాభిషిక్తుడు mūrdh-ābhishik-tuḍu. n. One who is anointed, i.e., an enthroned king: an emperor. పట్టాభిషిక్తుడైన రాజు.

(p. 1104) lipi lipi. [Skt. from లిప్ to smear.] n. Writing in general, hand-writing, a written character. వ్రాత. దేవనాగరలిపి the Devanāgri character. లిపికారుడు, లిపికరుడు or లిపీకరుడు lipi-kāruḍu. n. A scribe, writer or copyist. వ్రాయువాడు. లిప్తము or లిప్తకము liptamu. adj. Smeared, anointed, plastered. పూయబడిన. లిప్తకము liptakamu. n. A poisoned arrow.

(p. 1109) lēpanamu lēpanamu. [Skt.] n. Smearing, plastering, anointing. అలకడము, పూయడము, చరమడము. లేపించు lēpinṭsu. v. a. To smear, చరుము, పట్టించు. లేపకుడు lēpakuḍu. n. One who smears, సున్నములోనగువానిని పూయువాడు. లేపము lēpamu. n. Plastering, smearing, పూయడము, పూత. Plaster, mortar. సుధ, సున్నము. Food. భోజనము. లేప్యము lēpyamu. n. A coating. పూత. adv. Fit to smear, పూయదగిన.

(p. 1368) snātakuḍu snātakuḍu. [Skt.] n. A Brahmin who is a householder, duly intiated after completing his studies. వివాహార్థముగా స్నాతకవ్రతము చేయువాడు, స్నానశీలవ్రతుడు, సమావర్తనముచేసి గృహస్థు అయినవాడు. If at the end of this period, he has not acquired a knowledge of the Vedas, he is called వ్రతస్నాతకుడు. If he has acquired this knowledge before the end of the period, he is called విద్యాస్నాతకుడు. If he finishes his studies with the expiration of the period, he is termed ఉభయస్నాతకుడు. స్నాతుడు snātuḍu. n. One who has bathed, స్నానము చేయువాడు, నీళ్లుపోసుకొన్నవాడు.' సుప్నాతులై.' M. XIII. iii. 102. స్నానము snānamu. n. Bathing, ablution, a bath. ముణగడము. కంఠస్నానము bathing all but the head. శిరస్న్సానము bathing the whole body. కటిస్నానము bathing up to the middle. స్నానఘట్టము a bathing place. ప్రాతస్న్సానము a morning bath. అభ్యంగస్నానము bathing after having anointed the head with oil. స్నానమైన తరువాత after bathing. కృతస్నానుడై having bathed. జ్ఞానస్నానము Christain baptism.
