(p. 118) āmōdiñcu ā-mōdinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To be glad; to agree, concur with, assent, consent, సంతోషించు, సమ్మతించు. ఆమోదము āmōdamu. n. Sweetness, delight, joy. సంతోషము, సమ్మతము.

(p. 206) oka oka. [Tel. Not derived from Skt. వొక, as other words denoting the numerals col show, but cognate with it] adj. A, an, one: ఒక్క. ఒక కోవందరు a few or some few. కొండొక some, some little, as కొండొకసేపు a little time. ఒకరీతిగా after a manner. ఒక పని నిమిత్తము about a certain affair. Adding the intensive ఏ it gives the sense of only: thus ఒకే యిల్లు, or ఒక యిల్లే only one house. వారు ఒక చెయ్యిగానున్నారు they are hand in hand, leagued together. ఒకనాడును ఒప్పడు he will never assent. ఇది ఒకలాగున ఉన్నది this is after a fashion, i.e., is odd, such as cannot be defined. నాకు ఒక విశముగానున్నది I feel very queer, I am out of sorts. ఒకప్పుడు at one time, once. ఒకవేళ at one time, perhaps. ఒకవేళ అట్లా చేసినా if he ever does so, in case he does so. ఒకింత or ఒక్కింత okinta. (ఒక+ఇంత) n. So much: a little, some trifle, ever so little.

(p. 207) oḍambaḍika or ఒడబడిక oḍam-baḍika. [Tel.] n. An agreement, engagement, compact, treaty, covenant, consent, assent సమ్మతి; నిబంధన పత్రిక; సమ్మతించి వ్రాసి యిచ్చిన వ్రాత. ఒడంబడు oḍam-baḍu. v. t. To agree, engage, consent. To comply with, to concede సమ్మతించు. ఒడంబరుచు oḍam-baruṭsu. v. t. To persuade, convince. ఒడచాటు Same as ఒడంబడిక.

(p. 215) ovvu ovvu. [Tel.] v. i. To agree with, గిట్టు, సరిపడు. To assent, consent. ఒవ్వమి ovvami. n. Refusal. ఒప్పమి. ఒవ్వనివారు those who hate, or disagree గిట్టనివారు ఒవ్వు ovvu. n. A sheaf of corn.

(p. 257) kalamu kalamu. [Tel.] n. A ship. M. III. iv. 81. 94. B. X. 6. Also, a measure of capacity containing twelve తూములు. కలమరి kalam-ari. (కలము+అరి.) n. A sailor, or boatman. M. XIII. v. 566. A passenger on a boat. ఓడయెక్కి పోవువాడు.

(p. 270) kāni or గాని kāni. [Tel.] (conj. denoting an alternative.) But, either, or, except, unless. And not, nor, Rather, Before. జాజియొక్కటియెకాని సకలకుసమ విసరసంపదచేనొప్పె వసుధయెల్ల , విరహణియెకానిధరణిపై వివిధజనులు సంతసములొందజేసె వసంతవేళ.' Sunandā Parinyam, iv. 22. 'ఆలలు మగనిమాట కడ్డంబు వచ్చెనా ఆలలుకాదది వానివ్రాలుకాని.' (Vēma.) ఇంతేకాని నేనేమెరుగను I know nothing but this. ఇదియేమోకాని I cannot tell what this may be. అదిగాని యిదిగాని either that or this. ఆపని పది దినములకుగాని కాదు that work cannot be finished in less than ten days. రేపుగాని రాడు he will not come here before to-morrow. ఉద్యోగము చిక్కుననే అపేక్ష ఉంటేగాని నేను అక్కడ ఉండను I would not have remained there had I not hoped to gain employment. ఇది అతని చేతగాని మరి యొకనిచేతకాదు he alone can do it, no one else can. ఎల్లవిధముల నిను వధియించిగాని పురికి నురుగముగావున for we will not return without slaying thee. అతడు వస్తేనేగాని యీపని కానేరదు unless he comes we cannot effect this. కాని or కానీ (for కానిమ్ము) imp. verb denoting assent. Let it be done. Be it so. Never mind. Very well. ఆ పని ముందరకానీ let that be done first. కానీ కానీ నీ కావరమణతు very well, I will crush your pride.

(p. 317) koṭṭu koṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To strike, knock. smite, beat, thrash. To attack (as rats do.) To rob, as highwaymen do. To quash, refute, defeat, dismiss, nonsuit. To strike off (the head) or behead. To strike out or rescind (a word). దారులు కొట్టు to rob (on) the high road. గోడను కాగితముకొట్టు to put (or stick) a paper on the wall. చప్పట్లుకొట్టు to clap the hands. అచ్చుకొట్టు to print. కొర్రుకొట్టు to impale. ఈతకొట్టు to swim. నన్నుముకొట్టు to whitewash. నన్ను దొంగలుకొట్టినారు thieves robbed me. చెంపకొట్టు to give a slap on the cheek. బుడ్డికొట్టు to crack a bottle, i.e, drink liquor. తలకొట్టు to behead, to ruin. పిండికొట్టు to pound flour. డేరాకొట్టు to pitch a tent. ఊడగొట్టు to loosen. చెడగొట్టు to spoil or ruin. తేలగొట్టు to set afloat. దిగగొట్టు to drive in. నలియగొట్టు to bruise. పండ్లు రాలగొట్టు to knock out a man's teeth. పగలగొట్టు a break to pieces. పడగొట్టు to throw down. పోగొట్టు to lose. విరుగగొట్టు to break; సాగగొట్టు to beat out (metal). ఊకొట్టు to hum in assent while listening. బుసకొట్టు to hiss. వాడు చేసిన దౌర్జన్యము వాణ్ని కొట్టినది his wickedness has fallen on his own head. నా నోట్లో మన్ను కొట్టినారు they have cast earth into my mouth, i.e., cheated or ruined me. కొట్టించు koṭṭinṭsu. v. t. To cause to beat.

(p. 715) pari pari. [Skt.] prefix. Around; full fully, greatly, completely. మిక్కిలి పరికరించు pari-karinṭsu. [corrupted from Skt. పరీక్ష.] v. a. To examine. పరీక్షించు. పరికర్మము pari-karmamu. n. Cleaning the body. శరీరశుద్ధీకరణము, దేహమాలిన్యమును పోగొట్టుకోవడము. Adornment, decoration, అలంకారము. 'భర్మపరికర్మవర్మితంబగు బ్రహ్మరథంబున.' A. iv. 37. పరిక్రమము pari-kramamu. n. Walking at ease. విహారము. పరిక్రియ parik-riya. n. Walking round a thing. ప్రదక్షిణము, చుట్టుకొని వచ్చుట. పరిక్షిప్తము pari-kshiptamu. adj. Surrounded on all sided, అన్నిప్రక్కలను చుట్టుకొనబడిన. పరిక్షేపము pari-kshēpamu. n. The act of surrounding. చుట్టుకొనియుండుట. పరిక్లేశము pari-klēṣamu. n. Calamity, affiction, misery. కడగండ్లు. 'వనవాసపరిక్లేశంబున కోపదు.' M. II. ii. 328. పరిగణనము pari-gaṇanamu. n. Estimation. పరిగణనము, ఎన్నిక. పరిగణించు pari-grahinṭsu. v. a. To think, reckon, consider, ఎంచు, ఎన్ను. పరిగ్రహించు pari-grahinṭsu. v. a. To take, accept, admit or receive. ప్రియముతో పుచ్చుకొను. పరిగ్రహము or పరిగ్రహణము pari-grahamu. n. Acceptance, taking, assent, consent, ప్రియముతో పుచ్చుకొనుట. Dependants, a family, a train, పరివారము. పరిగృహీతము pari-gṛihītamu. adj. Accepted, received with kindness, ప్రియముతో పుచ్చుకొనబడిన. పరిఘట్టనము pari-ghaṭṭanamu. n. Thumping, striking, collision. పరిఘాణించు or పరిఘాళించు pari-ghaṇinṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To vaunt, to boast, to oppose in words. ఎదురాడు. 'చిగురుటాకుల నిరసించు హస్తములలు, గగనంబుతో బరిఘాణించు నడుము.' HD. ii. 352.

(p. 738) pādamu pādamu. [Skt.] n. A foot. అడుగు. A root, వేరు. A quarter, పాతిక. A foot or line of verse being a quarter of a stanza. పద్యములో నాలుగవభాగము. A ray of light, కిరణము. A small hill at the foot of a mountain. కొండదరి దిబ్బ. తమ పాదాలనే నమ్మివచ్చినాను I came in reliance on your honour as my protector. This is a mere conversational compliment, like 'I kiss your hands' in Spanish. పాదతీర్థము water made holy by washing a saint's feet. పాదపద్మములు lotus-like feet. పాదలాక్ష red paint for the feet of women, పారాణి. తమపాదాలసముఖానకు నా కుమారుణ్ని తెచ్చి అప్పగిస్తున్నాను permit me to introduce my son to your honour's protection. వాడు తండ్రిపాదాలమీద పడెను he fell on his father's feet. తమపాదాలవద్ద before your honour, in your presence. తమపాదాల శరణుచొచ్చినాను I throw myself on your goodness. పాదచారి pāda-chāri. n. A foot passenger. కాలిబంటు. One who goes walking, నడచి పోవువాడు. పాదజుడు pādajuḍu. n. A Sudra, because born from the feet of Brahma. పాదత్రాణము pāda-trāṇamu. n. A shoe or boot. పైజారు. పాదపము pādapamu. n. A tree. పాదపూర్ణము pāda-pūrṇamu. n. An unnecessary word inserted in verse, to fill up the measure, such as in Sanskrit the words తు, హి, చ, స్మ, హి, వై, or, in Telugu poetry the words, ఒగి, తగ, మరి, ఇల, మహి , or verbs, చెలగు, ఒప్పు, &c. పాదరసము pāda-rasamu. n. Quick-silver, mercury. రసము. పాదలి pādali. n. A base or low man, అధముడు. 'పాపపు విప్రుని పనికిగామున్ను, తాపికాడైన పాదలిమందడీడు.' HD. iii. 110.

(p. 1302) samāhitamu sam-āhitamu. [Skt.] adj. Well placed, settled, assembled, compiled, చక్కగా ఉంచబడిన. Promised, agreed, or assented to, అంగీకరింపబడిన, అంగీకృతమైన. Absorbed in meditation, engaged in devout meditation. Attentive, cautious. సమాధియందున్న, సమాధిస్థము, వినిహితము, సావధానమైన, సమాహితుడు sam-āhituḍu. n. One who is well placed. చక్కగా ఉంచబడినవాడు.

(p. 1304) sammatamu sam-matamu. [Skt.] adj. Assented to, agreed to, concurred in, approved of, liked, agreeable, సమ్మతియైన, అంగీకృతము. శాస్త్రసమ్మతమైనపని a legal act. అతనికి సమ్మతము కానిది that which is not agreeable to him. సమ్మతముగా sam-matamu-gā. adv. Willingly, agreeably, according to. మనః పూర్వకముగా, ప్రకారముగా, శాస్త్రసమ్మతముగా according to rule. తమతీర్పు దైవసమ్మతముగా నుండవలసినది you should give such a decision as may be right in the sight of God. సమ్మతి sam-mati. n. Consent approbation, assent. అంగీకారము, ఇచ్ఛ, ఇష్టము, అనుజ్ఞ. సమ్మతివచనము a text adduced in proof. శేషయ్య సమ్మతిని కొమారుడు రంగయ్య వ్రాలు signed by me, Rangaya, on behalf of my father Seshaya. సమ్మతించు, సమ్మతిలు or సమ్మతిల్లు sam-mat-inṭsu. v. n. To consent or agree. ఒప్పు, అంగీకరించు, సమ్మతుడు sam-matuḍu. n. One who assented to or agreed to; one who is approved of, అంగీకృతుడు, ఒప్పుకోబడ్డవాడు. సర్వజనసమ్మతుడు he whom all approve.

(p. 1379) svīkariñcu svī-karintṣu. [Skt.] v. a. To adopt, embrace, acknowledge, receive. అంగీకరించు, గ్రహించు, పుచ్చుకొను. స్వీకారము svī-kāramu. n. Adopting, appropriating. Acknowledgment, assent, comment. Entering or embracing a new condition of life, ఆశ్రమము, as becoming a married man after being a bachelor. అంగీకరించడము, అంగీకారము, సమ్మతించడము, గ్రహించడము, దత్తత. 'ప్రణిపాతపూజనస్వీకారసంభ్రమోత్సేకమునను.' P. i. 716. అది పుత్రస్వీకారము చేసికొన్న తరువాత after she has adopted a son. ఆయన ప్రసాదస్వీకారము చేసికొన్నాడు he embraced a monkish life. స్వీకృతము svī-kṛitamu. adj. Admitted, acknowledged, confessed, promised, accepted, adopted. అంగీకరింపబడ్డ, ప్రతిగృహీతమైన, పెంచుకోబడ్డ. స్వీకృతపుత్రుడు an adopted son. స్వీకృతి svī-kṛiti. n. Adoption, acknowledgement, అంగీకరించడము, సమ్మతించడము, గ్రహించడము.
