(p. 21) akṣi akshi. [Skt.] n. An eye. కన్ను. మదిరాక్షి a woman: (lit.) she who is tipsy eyed. అక్షితార, the pupil of the eye. అక్షిపక్ష్మము, the eye-lash, రెప్పవెండ్రుకలు, అక్షిపటలము a coat of the eye. అక్షిభ్రువము = the eyebrow, అక్షిగోళము akshi-gōḷamu. [Skt.] n. The eyeball.

(p. 27) accanagaṇḍlu, accanagāyalu or అచ్చనగుండ్లు aṭṭsana-gunḍlu. [Tel. singular అచ్చనకల్లు;] n. Chuck-stones. Pebbles which are tossed up, and caught on the back of the hand, in a game played by girls. 'ముదురువెన్నెల గాయ ముత్యాలదిన్నెపై పైడియచ్చనగండ్లు పారవైచి.' Yayati. iii. 149. అచ్చనలాడు or అచ్చనగాయలాడు to toss up balls and catch them on the back of the hand. నలాడండననియె నమ్మునితోడన్.' Jai. Bhar. i. 62.

(p. 76) ammanalu or అమ్మనములు ammanalu. [Tel.] n. A game wherein a number of balls are thrown into the air, one being caught in the hand descending whilst others are rising: అణంగులు గుండ్లను ఎగరవేసి ఆడే ఆట. 'గుజగుజరేకులు గుజ్జనగూళ్లను బొమ్మలపెండ్లిండ్లు నమ్మములు.' N. ix. 101.

(p. 97) aviyu aviyu. [Tel.] v. n. To break, burst, be destroyed. బద్దలగు, పగులు, వానిగుడ్లవిసినవి his eyeballs are destroyed. అవియించు aviyinṭsu. v. a. To break. బద్దలుచేయు.

(p. 146) īṣika īshika. [Skt.] n. A reed for writing, a painter's bush, a pencil. The eyeball of an elephant.

(p. 147) uṇṭa unṭa. [Tel.] n. Contraction of ఉండుట q. v. చెప్పరాకుంట being unable to tell. Also, a ball. ఉండ, ఉంటగాలము a fish hook to which a ball of lead is tied. సీసపుగండు కట్టిన గాలము.

(p. 148) uṇḍa uṇḍa. [Tel.] n. A lump, a ball, a pellet, a pill or bolus. adj. Round. గుండ్రని. ఉండకోవి uṇḍa-kōvi. n. A rod, a staff. చేతికర్ర. ఉండచీట్లువేయు uṇḍa-chīṭlu-vēyu. v. n. To ballot. ఉండనూలు uṇḍanūlu. n. A ball of thread. See ఉండ్రాయి ఉండవిల్లు uṇḍa-villu. n. A pellet-bow.

(p. 148) uṇḍramu uṇḍramu. [Tel.] n. A ball. adj. Round. plu. ఉండ్రములు same as ఉండ్రాళ్లు See ఉండ్రాయి.

(p. 148) uṇḍrāyi uṇḍrāyi. [Tel. ఉండ+రాయి] n. A ball of rice flour boiled in steam. ఉప్పినపిండిని ఉండలుగా చేసి వండినభక్ష్యము. ఉండ్రములు, ఉండ్రాలు, ఉండ్రాళ్లు uṇḍrāḷḷu. n. Cakes offered to the gods and particularly to Ganesa. ఉండ్రాళ్లపండుగ or ఉండ్రాళ్లతద్దె a feast kept by women who pay their vows by such offerings.

(p. 149) ukkeḍa ukkeḍa. [Tel.] n. An oblong ball of thread for a spindle.

(p. 201) ēlapadamu or ఏలపాట ēla-padamu. [Tel.] n. A carol or balled. See ఏల.

(p. 207) oggu oggu. [Tel.] v. n. To try, undertake పూనుకొను; to yield, submit, లోబడు; to be ready, to stand in order, to be in trim. సిద్ధపడు. To bend, to bow, వంగు. v. a. To spread (as a net) పరుచు, ఒడ్డు. To spread చాచు. To lend or give an ear or the hand, to apply (the mind), to apply, to present. ఒగ్గుబల్ల oggu-balla. n. A rest or prop in a lathe.

(p. 209) oḍḍu oḍḍu. [Tel.] n. A bank or shore. దరి. The original number; whether multiplicand or dividend. The disposition of an army in a battle field వ్యూహము. A stake in gambling. పందెము. ఒడ్డిమి. An attempt పూనిక. An obstacle. అడ్డపాటు. ఒడ్డువేసికొని యుండు. to be in wait or ambush. ఒడ్డు విరిగి దాని మీద పడ్డారు they fell upon him tooth and nail. ఒడ్డుచూపు to place one's troops. నీ ఒడ్డు విరుగుగాక may the greatness perish. ఒడ్డు or ఒడ్డైన oḍdu. adj. Large, great, stout, big. ఒడ్డుగుండ్లు large balls, boulders, or, fragments of rocks hurled from a hill. ఒడ్డోలగము oḍḍ-ōlagamu. (ఒడ్డు+ఓలగము) n. A great assembly. ఒడ్డుమెరక high and low, ups and downs: unevenness.

(p. 213) oramu or ఒరియు orayu. [Tel.] v. n. To rub together, be in contact. To touch or graze, as a bullet. To be bruised. To struggle or compete with. విద్యతో నొరయు to become familiar with (learning.) ఉంగరము వేలును ఒరిసికొనిపోయినది the ring has grown into the finger. గుండు ఒరిసిపోయినది the ball grazed (my hand.) నేను పడినందున నా మోకాలు ఒరిసికొనిపోయినది I fell and my knee was bruised. ఒరయు v. a. To rub రాచు, to try on the touchstone ఒరపెట్టు. To test or to examine పరీక్షించు. To consider or enquire into విచారించు. To search for వెదకు. ఒరయిక ora-ika. n. Rubbing, contact రాపిడి.

(p. 225) kaṇḍe kaṇḍe. [Tel.] n. A head or ear of millet or maize. జొన్నకంకి. A ball or roll of thread on a straw, which is put into the shuttle నూలుచుట్టు. A shoulder whose muscles are stiffened by gymnastics సాముచే మిక్కిలి గట్టిపడిన భుజముఖము (another form in this sense is కండెము.) కండెచేప a fish. A. v. 42. కండెబోటి a Skein of thread.
