(p. 18) aṃsamu amsamu. [Skt.] n. A shoulder, భుజశిరస్సు. అంసకూటము, a bull's hump. అంసపాదికట్టె a small forked prop which supports the woodwork on which a roof is laid. A small forked stake used at intervals to relieve the shoulders of those who bear a car, &c., in procession. అంసఫలకము, the upper part of the spine.

(p. 102) asahyamu a-sahyamu. [Skt.] adj. Intolerable, unbearable, hateful, loathsome. తాళగూడని, సహింపగూడని, చీదరైన. అసహ్యము n. Loathsomeness, disgust. చీదర, తాళగూడమి. అసహ్యపడు or అసహ్యించు v. n. To have a dislike for, to be disgusted with. రోతపడు.

(p. 104) ahamu ahamu. [Skt. cf. Lat. ego. Eng. I.] pron. I, myself. నేను. (Met.) Arrogance, presumption. అహంకారము. వానికి నిండా అహమున్నది he is very proud. అహంకరించు ahan-karinṭsu. v. n. To be arrogant or over-bearing. గర్వించు అహంకారము, అహంకృతి or అహంక్రియ ahankāramu. n. Egotism, conceit, arrogance. గర్వము. అహంపూర్విక ahampurvika. n. Emulation. నేనంటే నేననిపైబడడము. అహంభావము ahambhāvamu. n. Egotism, pride. గర్వము. అహంమహమిక ahamahamika. n. ('Saying, I, I.') Conceit, emulation, vaunting, bragging. పరస్పరాహంకారము అహమించు ahaminṭsu. v. n. To be conceited. గర్వించు.

(p. 109) āgu āgu. [Tel.] v. n. To stop, to stay, asbtain, refrain. To bear (as a cord does a weight.) To be confined, set aside, or reserved. ఆయింటను ఆగబడి యున్నదేవకి (B. X. 75.) Devaki who was kept in restraint. తల్లిదండ్రులులెని బాలురు ఆగ నీవు దిక్కు thou art the refuge of the helpless. పశువులకు ఆరినబీడు land set aside or reserved for pasture. ఇది లేనిది నాకు ఆగదు I cannot get on without this. నా నోటిలో ఆ మాట ఆగదు I cannot keep that word a secret. ఆగు, ఆగించు, ఆచు, ఆపు the causal of ఆగు: āgu. [Tel.] v. t. To stop, check, hinder. To keep, tend. To look to, superintend, guard, protect, preserve. To fold or gather as a flock. నోరాచి మాట్లాడిరి they spoke cautiously. చెయ్యి ఆపక (T. v. 22.) without intermission. నిద్ర ఆచుట to refrain from sleep, keep away drowsiness. రాత్రిళ్లు ఇక్కడ మందులు ఆచుకొని యుండేవారు they used to keep cattle here at nights.

(p. 136) ināmu or ఈనాము ināmu. [H.] Inam, a present of gift; land granted by the Government rent free for ever or subject to a small quit rent. A present by Government. మాన్యము, బహుమానము. ఇనాముదారుడు a holder of an inam. నెత్తురుకట్టు ఇనాము land granted to such as had shed blood in battle. కదీంయినాము an old bequest. దివిటీయినాము a grant of land to a torchbearer. ఇనాయతుచేయు to grant.

(p. 140) illāmalli illā-malli. [tel.] n. A talebearer. కొండెకాడు. ఇల్లామల్లితనము illāmallitanamu. [Tel.] n. Scandal, tattle. ఇల్లామల్లిసుద్దులు illāmalli-suddulu. n. Tattle, backbiting, scandal.

(p. 144) īnu īnu. [Tel.] v. a. To give produce (as fields of grain.) To yean or bear (young.) To give forth, emit (sound, or splendour.) ఈనగాచి నక్కలపాలు చేసినట్టు all one's care is thrown away. మెరుగులీనిన emitting radiance. నేలయీనిన విధమున as though the earth calved.

(p. 147) uñcu unṭsu. [Tel. Causal of ఉండు] v. t. To place, put, set, lay, let be, keep, deposit, preserve, reserve. ఈ మాటలు అట్టె ఉంచు leave off these assertions. మదిలోనుంచు to bear in mind. తమరు దయ ఉంచవలసినది you must not forget me: ఉంచుకొను unṭsu-konu. To keep for himself. To keep a mistress. To entertain in service.

(p. 175) ūnika ūnika. [Tel.] n. Resting, support, steadiness. అనుట, దిటవు. ఊను ūnu. v. a. To have, take, bear, వహించు, ధరించు. To soften as leather. మెత్తపరుచు. v. n. To lean against, to rest on. ఆను: 'అయినను నెచ్చెలిపై మది, నూనిననెయ్య మునజేసి' మార్క. ii.

(p. 178) ṛśyamu ṛisyamu. [Skt.] n. The white footed antelope. ఋశ్యవర్ణాశ్వములు horses having the color of this antelope. Dun horses. ఋశ్యశృంగుడు (lit. one who bears the horn of an antelope.) n. Name of a Rishi or saint.

(p. 186) ettu ettu. [Tel.] v. n. To rise పుట్టు. To occur, come about కలుగు. To start బయలుదేరు. To come on (as a disease.) వానికి అతిసారము ఎత్తినది dysentery came on. వానికి వెర్రియెత్తినది madness came on him; he became mad. నాకు ఆకలియెత్తినది I am hungry. గాలియెత్తినది the wind arose. నేను వాంతియెత్తితిని I vomited. ఎత్తించు ettinṭsu. [Causal of ఎత్తు] v. t. To lift. To cause to raise, erect, or build. ఎత్తికొను or ఎత్తుకొను etti-konu. v. i. To bear, to carry వహించు. To attempt యత్నించు, v. t. To taunt, jeer, reproach నింద, ఎత్తిలి ettili. adv. Hard. గట్టిగా. ఎత్తివేయు etti-vēyu. v. t. To throw away, to strike out. కొట్టివేయు, తీసివేయు; to slight, to despise అలక్ష్యముచేయు.
