(p. 175) ūdu ūdu. [Tel.] v. n. To blow with the breath or with bellows. To swell వాచు. To press అదుము, నొక్కు. To play on a flute. To purify or refine metal with the blowpipe. To place, ఉంచు. To be swollen. To arise as a thought or feeling. To catch fish. చేపలను ఊతతో పట్టుకొను. ఊదుūdu. n. A snare for fish made of basket work. Clay, mud బురద. A swelling వాపు. ఊదు ūdu. [H.] n. Frankincense, benzoin. సాంబ్రాణి. ఉదుపత్తి a pastille. సాంబ్రాణివత్తి. ఊదించు to cause to blow. ఊదిన వెండి or ఊదువెండి silver refined with the blow-pipe. ఊదుగొట్టము ūdu-goṭṭamu. n. A blow-pipe. ఊదుక్రోవి or ఊదువాద్యము ūdu-krōvi. n. A wind instrument.

(p. 1252) śila ṣila. [Skt.] n. A stone. పాషాణము, రాయి. The stone or plank or wood placed at the threshold of a house, గడపకింది త్రొక్కుడుకమ్మి. శిలామయము built of stone. శిలాక్షరము ṣil-āksharamu. n. Engraving, writing on a rock. (Metaphorically,) an irrevocable promise. రాతిమీద చెక్కిన అక్షరము. One verse says నిలువెల్ల అమృతసారము, పలుకెల్ల శిలాక్షరంబులు. శిలాజతువు or సిలాజిత్తు ṣilā-jatuvu. n. Bitumen; red chalk. పర్వతధాతుభేదము. శిలాపుష్పము ṣilā-pushpamu. n. Storax or benzoin. గుగ్గిలము, సాంబ్రాణి. శిలారసము ṣliā-rasamu. n. A tree called Altingia excelsa. (Watts.) శిలోచ్చయము ṣil-ōchchayamu. n. A mountain. పర్వతము. శిలోద్వాసనము ṣil-ōdaāsanamu. n. A funeral rite in which a man's ghost is invoked to sit down on a particular stone and తిలోదకములు and వాసోదకములు are offered to it for nine days: on the tenth day they remove it by the rite of expulsion (ఉద్వాసనము,) చచ్చినపదోనాడు పాషాణమును ఎత్తడమనేకర్మము.

(p. 1318) sāmbrāṇi sāmbrāṇi. [from Skt. సంబరేను.] n. The fragrant gum called benzoin, సంబరేను చెట్టువలన గలిగిన ధూపద్రవ్యము. సాంబ్రాణి తైలము an oil extracted from this. సాంబ్రాణివత్తి a perfumed taper or pastille, a candle made of benzoin which produces the fragrance of frankincense. ఊదువత్తి. పరంగిసాంబ్రాణిచెట్టు the Indian Olibanum tree, Boswellia serrata, గుగ్గిలపుచెట్టు. (Watts.) సాంబ్రాణి ఆకు a certain herb.
