(p. 21) akṣamu akshamu. [Skt.] n. A die to play with; dice; an axle. సొగటాలపాచిక, ఇరుగు. Terrestrial latitude. అక్షకర్ణము = The hypotenuse, especially of the triangle formed with the gnomon of a dial and its shadow; in astronomy, the argument of the latitude. అక్షాగ్రము, the end of an axle. అక్షాగ్రశీలము, a linch-pin; the pin which fastens the yoke to the pole. రుద్రాక్ష, the seed of Elcocarpus Ganitrus, or of Beleric Myrobalan, which is used as a die. అక్షావపనము, a dice-board అక్షతత్వము science of dice. అక్షవిద్య aksha-vidya. (p. 31) aṭṭa aṭṭa. [Tel.] n. The sole of a shoe or slipper; hide; leather. Card, pasteboard. A headless trunk. A part or division. చర్మము, మొండెము, భాగము. ఒంటట్ట చెప్పులు shoes with a single leather for a sole. చెమటట్ట a piece of leather put inside a shoe. అట్టపొట్టగా నుండేవాడు a stout pot-bellied man. అట్టలెత్తిన పాత్రమెట్టులు. (p. 34) aḍapaṭṭe aḍapaṭṭe. [Tel.] n. A board used for smoothing a ploughed field after the grain is sown: in effect corresponding with a roller. పొలములో విత్తనము విత్తి, మిట్ట పల్లము లేకుండా సరదడమునకై యెడ్లనుకట్టి తోలే మాను, దిండు.

(p. 38) aḍḍamu or అడ్డమైన aḍḍamu. [Tel.] adj. Cross. నన్ను అడ్డమైన మాటలు ఆడినాడు he reviled me. అడ్డమైనకూళ్లు any food that comes to the hand. నాకు అడ్డమైనపని పెట్టుతున్నాడు he employs me in anything that comes to hand. వాడు అడ్డదోవలు తొక్కుచున్నాడు he goes the wrong way to work. అడ్డకట్ట aḍḍa-kaṭṭa. [Tel.] n. A dam or bank, an embankment. సేతువు, చేలకు నీళ్లు నిలిచేటందుకు కట్టిన గట్టు. అడ్డకత్తి aḍḍakatti. A broad sword. పట్టిసము. అడ్డకమ్మి aḍḍa-kammi. A cross piece, the cross selvage in cloth. అడ్డకర్ర aḍḍa-karra. A cross-piece of timber: an obstacle: a bar. విఘూతము. నా పనికి అడ్డకర్రలు వేయుచున్నాడు he throws difficulties in my way. See అడ్డము. అడ్డగోడ addagōḍa a cross-wall. అడ్డచాపు aḍḍa-tṣāpu. A cross beam. అడ్డవాసము. అడ్డతల aḍḍa-tala. A narrow projecting head: having a narrow fore head. నిడుపు తల. అడ్డదూలము aḍḍa-dūlamu. A cross beam. అడ్డదోవ aḍḍa-dōva. A crossway. అడ్డపలక aḍḍa-palaka. A cross plank. అడ్డపట్టె. aḍḍa-paṭṭe. A thick board drawn by two oxen used for smoothing a ploughed field after the grain is sown. మడిసమముచేసే మాను. అడ్డుపడు aḍḍa-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To interpose, to help; to obstruct, impede. విఘూతమగు, వారించు. నా పనికి అడ్డుపడ్డాడు he threw obstacles in my way. భార్యను కొట్టబోతే కొడుకు అడ్డుపడినాడు as he was going to strike his wife his son interposed. నేనడ్డపడకపోతే వాండ్లు వత్తురు had I not interposed they would have died. అడ్డపాటు aḍḍa-pāṭu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, obstruction. అడ్డి, విఘ్నము. అడ్డబాస aḍḍa-bāsa. n. A nose jewel. బులాకి. అడ్డబొట్టు aḍḍa-boṭṭu. A cross mark worn by the Hindus on their fore-head. అడ్డమాను aḍḍa-mānu. A cross bar. వాడు అడ్డవాట్లు వేస్తున్నాడు he throws impediments in the way.

(p. 80) arigōlu ari-gōlu. [Tel.] n. A basket boat lined with leather. పుట్టి. 'ఆరిగోలు బట్టుక అపగదాటు.' L. xii. 118. 'అచి చంద్రమండలంబకాదు చదలేట దేలుదంతపుటరిగోలుగాని.' p. iv. 251.

(p. 91) allīsakarra allīsa-karra. [H.] n. An oar. పడవతెడ్డు, తెడ్డు. (The boatmen usually cry అయిలేస ayilēsa and అయిలేస బడియేల when rowing) అల్లీసకర్రలువేయు or కోలలువేయు to row a boat with oars.

(p. 116) ānu ānu. [Tel.] v. a. To press on, put on. అణచు, ధరించు. To drink. తేంట్లు మద్యములానును the bess drink honey. పాలిండ్లన్ విషమాని putting poison on her nipples. చేతులచెవులాని putting his hands to his ears. అనిక āninṭsu. v. a. To cause to rest on. ఆనిక ānika. n. A support, strength. అనుకర్ర ānu-karra. n. A prop. ఊతకోల. అనుకొను ānu-konu. v. a. To lean against or on. To border on, be contiguous to. ఆడివిని ఆనుకొన్న చేనులు lands bordering on the forest. ఓడను ఆనుకొన్న పడవలు the boats that were alongside the ship. ఆనుడు బిళ్ల ānuḍu-biḷḷa. n. A cushion to lean on, a semicircular cushion or pillow. ఒరుగుదిండు.

(p. 201) ēla ēla. [Tel.] n. A hurrah, or hoop. A carol or catch used by rowers of boats శృంగారపు పాట. 'ఏటికట్టగుడిసెవేతాం ఏరువస్తే కూడాపోదాం ఓ, ఓ, గొల్లభామా!'
