(p. 32) aṭṭahāsamu aṭṭa-hāsamu. [Skt.] n. Violent, phrenzied laughter. Vehement action, exceeding effort or exertion. Toil, pains, laborious efforts. Pomp. 'అట్టహాసంబున నడరెడు తెరనూరు.' N. ix. 31. నా కూతురిని పంపితేనేగాని కూడదని అట్టహాసము చేస్తాడు he protests violently that his daughter shall go with him. రాజు బహు అట్టహాసముతో బయలుదేరినాడు the king set out with great pomp. అట్టహాసకాడు n. A pompous or ostentatious man.

(p. 51) anādi an-ādi. [Skt.] adj. without beginning, eternal. అరంభములేని, నిత్యమైన. అనాదిబీడు immemorial waste, i.e., land that never has been brought under the plough. అనాదీయము [Skt.] adj. Immemorial, aboriginal, of unknown origin. పూర్వీకపు. అనాద్యము adj. Without origin, of unknown origin, everlasting. నిరంతరమైన, ఎన్నటికిని ఉండే. అనాద్యంతము without beginning and end.

(p. 194) ēkari ēkari. [Tel.] n. A particular class of gypsies, or aboriginal people. కిరాతభేదము.

(p. 253) karnāṭakamu or కర్ణాటము karṇāṭakamu. [Skt. from కరి+నాడు, the black soil or country.] n. The Karṇāṭaka or Kannada language. The Carnatic dance. A comedy: that division of acting which relates to love tales and emotions of amorous passion. కర్నాటకమేళము Native music, a Hindu band. కర్ణాటకరాజుల కథలు. Legendary tales, old wives' fables. కర్ణాటక ప్రభువులు the ancient kings or aboriginal princes.

(p. 562) tolucu or తొల్చు toluṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To bore, perforate. To hollow, dig, scoop. To carve wood. To polish, furbish. To cleanse or rinse. కొయ్యతొలుచుపురుగు the wood-boring insect called a deathwatch. ఆ పాత్రను తొలిచినాడు he cleaned or polished the dish.

(p. 645) nārasamu nārasamu. [from Skt. నారాచం.] n. An iron style or arrow: a pin or spike run through a volume to keep it together. A tool used by housebreakers for boring walls. Proverbially used for a piercing glance. వాని నాలుకమీద నారసము జేసినారు they have put a padlock on his lips. నారసము or నారసగంటము an iron style (గంటము) of which each end is pointed, but with different tips for writing on harder and softer leaves.

(p. 664) niṣākuḍu nishāduḍu. [Skt.] n. The name of a certain aboriginal tribe; a mountaineer, a huntsman, a savage, చెంచువాడు, యానాదివాడు.

(p. 731) pāṇḍavulu pānḍavulu. [Skt. from పాండు (రాజు)] n. The Pānḍus or princes of the house of Pānḍu. The ancient heroes. Aborigines. పాండవులనాటినుండి time out of mind, అనాదిగా. పాండవబీడు land that has never been brought under the plough, an immemorial waste. పాండవ యిండ్లు prehistoric tombs, tumuli.

(p. 909) boriga boriga. [Tel.] n. A small spade, (గడ్డిని) గోకుడుపార, తవ్వుకోల.

(p. 909) boriya or బొర్రె boriya. [Tel.] n. A hole or burrow such as is made by foxes, &c. రంధ్రము. A pit, గొయ్యి. A cave, గుహ, పర్వతబిలము. A dried cocoanut. నీరింకిపోయి ఎండిన కొబ్బరిబొండము. 'అంతట నొక్కనక్కదొరయంబుజ బాంధవుడస్తపర్వతో పాంతముజేరుదాక బొరియన్ జఠరానలకీలకెంతయున్ జింతిలుచుండి.' S. iii. 350. బొరియచూలి boriya-ṭsūli. n. Lit. One born in a hole, i.e., Vālmiki.

(p. 999) muṭṭu muṭtu. [Tel.] v. a. and v. n. To touch, తాకు. To attack as an enemy, శత్రువును తాకు. To touch or strike a sensitive part of the body, మర్మమునుతాకు. To besiege, ముట్టడించు. To be ended or finished, కడముట్టు. To arrive, be received, obtained. నాకు రూపాయిలు ముట్టలేదు I did not receive the rupees. ముట్టగొలుచు to worship to the end, or with unfailing devotion, కడవెళ్లకొలుచు. 'ముట్టగొలిచినఫలం బిట్టుండవలదె.' BD. v. 457. రాత్రి తుదముట్టగానే (Vasu. iv. 170.) as soon as night came to its close. ఇది తుదముట్టేదెన్నటికో when will this be finished? వానిని సర్పము ముట్టినది a snake bit him. n. Contact, touching, తాకుడు. Defilement by contact. Hence, the menses. A tool or instrument, ఉపకరణము. వానికి అంటుముట్టులేదు he does not care about being touched. పనిముట్టు or కొరముట్టు a tool. కన్నపుముట్టు (B. v. 807.) a house breaker's tool for boring walls adj. Defiling, foul, unclean, menstruous. ముట్టయిన menstruous. ముట్టుకొను muṭṭukonu. v. a. To touch, తాకు. To besiege, ముట్టడించు. To surround, encroach upon, ఆక్రమించు. ముట్టుకొలుపు muṭṭu-kolupu. v. a. To cause to touch or besiege. రామా. vi. ముట్టుకోలు muṭṭu-kōlu. n. A siege, ముట్టడి. ముట్టుకొలుగొను, ముట్టుకోల్గొను, ముట్టుకోలుపట్టు, ముట్టుకోల్పట్టు or ముట్టుకోలుపరుచు Same as ముట్టడించు. ముట్టుది or ముట్టుత muṭṭudi. n. A menstruous woman. ముట్టచెప్పు muṭṭacheppu. v. a. To assign. చెల్లగట్టు. నాకు పదిరూపాయలసొమ్ము ముట్టజెప్పినాడు. he paid or gave me ten rupees. ముట్టడి muṭṭaḍi. n. A siege, blockade. ఊరుచుట్టుకొని అరికట్టడము. ముట్టడించు or ముట్టడివేయు muṭṭaḍ-inṭsu. v. a. To besiege. ఊరుచుట్టుకొని అరికట్టుకొను. ముట్టడము or ముట్టణము muṭṭaḍamu. n. Compulsion, oppression, నిర్భంధము. The act of laying siege to a place, ముట్టడించుట. ముట్టించు muṭṭinṭsu. v. a. To cause to touch. To light a candle, to kindle, i.e., communicate (fire) తాకిమచు. ముట్టికాళ్లు muṭṭi-kāḷḷu. n. Knees that touch. ముట్టికాళ్లవాడు. a knock-kneed man. ముట్టికాళ్లువేసికొను to kneel down. ముట్టుపడు muṭṭu-paḍu. v. n. To be troublesome, సంకటమగు. ముట్టుపాటు muṭṭu-pāṭu. n. (p. 1105) lukaluka luka-luka. [Tel. anuk.] n. The noise made in running or by insects boring through wood. లుకలుకమను luka-lukam-anu. v. n. To wriggle, crawl about. మెదలు. లుకలుకలాడు luka-lukal-āḍu. v. n. To totter, తడబడు.

(p. 1234) vyāghramu vyāghramu. [Skt.] n. A royal tiger. శార్దూలము. adj. (In comp.) Best, pre-eminent, శ్రేష్ఠము. పురుషవ్యాఘ్రుడు a noble man, పురుషశ్రేష్ఠుడు. వ్యాఘ్రనఖము vyāghra-nakhamu. n. Lit. a tiger's claw. The name of a plant, Galedupa arboria, కరంజము, చక్రకారకము. A sort of perfume. గంధవిశేషము. వ్యాఘ్రాజినము vyāghr-ājinamu. n. The skin of a tiger, used to sit upon at devotions. వ్యాఘ్రాటము vyāghrāṭamu. n. A sky-lark. భరద్వాజము, ఏట్రింత. వ్యాఘ్రి vyāghri. n. A tigress.
