(p. 8) aṇṭukonu anṭu konu. [Tel.] v. n. To cleave, adhere to, stick, stick as paste. To catch fire. వాడు దాన్ని అంటుకొని పోయినాడు he carried her away, he has run away with her. అ యిల్లు అంటు కొస్నది the house has caught fire. వాదు వా వుస్మకముసు అంటుకొని పోయినాడు he stole my book. ఊపిరిమాత్రము అంటుకొనియున్నది his breath just remains in him. వానికడుపు వెన్నుతో అంటుకొనిపోయినది his belly sticks to his back-bone, i. e., he is emaciated.

(p. 127) āvi āvi. [Tel.] n. Steam, vapour. ఆవిరి. Heat. తాపము. M. v. iii. 39. To breathe into a handkerchief and put it to the eye to relieve pain. ఆవించు āvinṭsu. v. t. To cook in steam. ఆవిపట్టు āvi-paṭṭu. v. t. To inhale steam or to pass steam over.

(p. 127) āviri āviri. [Tel.] n. Steam, vapour, exhalation, the heat of the breath. ఆవరిల్లు āvirillu. v. n. To sweat, to steam, to moisten. చేమర్చు.

(p. 128) āśvāsamu or ఆశ్వాసనము āṣvāsamu. [Skt. lit taking breath or rest.] n. A chapter or section; a canto. Consolation. ఊరట. ఆశ్వాసించు āṣvāsinṭsu. v. n. To console, to comfort. ఊరడించు.

(p. 144) īḍupu or ఈడ్పు īḍupu. [Tel.] n. Pulling, dragging, impetus, hard breathing. A stitch in the side, the contraction of a limb. నీళ్లు నిండా యీడ్చుగానున్నవి the water runs here with a great draught. ఈడుపు or పొదికట్టు the sill, the side post of a door.

(p. 149) ukkina or ఉక్కిసము ukkisa. [Tel.] n. Asthma, gasping for breath. ఉబ్బసము. ఎగ ఊపిరి, కాసము. Dry cough. పొడిదగ్గు.

(p. 151) ucchvāsitamu uchchhvasitamu. [Skt.] n. Breathing, Dasav. VII. 91. ఉచ్ఛ్వాసము uchchḥvāsamu. n. Breath, a breathing sigh. ఎగఊపిరి. ఉచ్ఛ్వాసనిరోధము uchchhvāsa-nirōdamu. n. A stoppage of the breath from stitch or other bodily pain. ఊపిరికుట్టు.

(p. 153) uḍḍukuḍucu uḍḍu-kuḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To be out of breath, to be suffocated. To be at one's wits' end. ఊపిరి తిప్పుకొనలేక బాధపడు. స్నానమందు నీళ్లచలికి ప్రాణములు ఉడ్డుకుడిచినవి the coldness of the water took away my breath. పిల్ల పాలుడ్డుకుడిచినది the infant was choked with milk.

(p. 175) ūdu ūdu. [Tel.] v. n. To blow with the breath or with bellows. To swell వాచు. To press అదుము, నొక్కు. To play on a flute. To purify or refine metal with the blowpipe. To place, ఉంచు. To be swollen. To arise as a thought or feeling. To catch fish. చేపలను ఊతతో పట్టుకొను. ఊదుūdu. n. A snare for fish made of basket work. Clay, mud బురద. A swelling వాపు. ఊదు ūdu. [H.] n. Frankincense, benzoin. సాంబ్రాణి. ఉదుపత్తి a pastille. సాంబ్రాణివత్తి. ఊదించు to cause to blow. ఊదిన వెండి or ఊదువెండి silver refined with the blow-pipe. ఊదుగొట్టము ūdu-goṭṭamu. n. A blow-pipe. ఊదుక్రోవి or ఊదువాద్యము ūdu-krōvi. n. A wind instrument.

(p. 175) ūpiri ūpiri. [Tel.] n. Breath, respiration. ఊపిరివిడుచు to breathe. ఊపిరిపట్టు to hold in the breath. వానికి ఊపిరి వచ్చింది he has revived. నీకు ఊపిరి తిరుగుచున్నదా can you draw your breath? ఊపిరి తిరుగక being suffocated. ఊపిరిపోయిన dead. ఊపిరికుట్టు ūpiri-kuṭṭu. n. A stitch in the side. ఊపిరి తీయరాకుండునట్లు బాధించే ఒక విధమైన వ్యాధి.

(p. 177) ūrpu ūrpu. [Tel.] Same as ఊరుపు (q. v.) ఊర్పోవు (ఊర్పు+పోవు) to breathe. ఊపిరివెడలు. ఊర్పోక (ఊర్పు+పోక) a pastime ఉబుసు పోక. ఊర్పుచ్చు (ఊర్పు+పుచ్చు) to cause the breath to go out.

(p. 182) ega ega. [Tel. from ఎగయు] adv. Up, upward. ఎగగొట్టు ega-goṭṭu. v. a. To throw up, rob, to run away with. ఎగురజేయు, అపహరించు. ఎగగ్రోలు ega-grōlu. v. t. To suck up పీల్చు. ఎగజల్లు ega-zallu. v. t. To scatter upward. పైకి చల్లు. ఎగజేపు ega-jēpu. v. a. To keep in (the milk) or restrain it from flowing (as a cow does unless the calf is with her. ఎగదన్ను ega-dannu. v. t. To kick up. ఎగదీయు ega-dīyu. v. a. To lift or pull up. To snort aloud. ఎగఊపిరి ega-ūpiri. n. A gasp. ఎగబోత ega-bōta. n Spreading upwards, giving bad advice, rumination, a brown study, discontent. ఎగువకు వ్యాపించుట, దుర్భోధనచేయుట. వానికి చెమట యెగబోత దిగబోతగా నున్నది he was in a sweat from head to foot. ఎగబోయు ega-bōyu. v. t. To give bad advice. దుర్భోధచేయు to hint. మాచించు. ఎగబ్రాకు ega-brāku. v. i. To creep up, crawl up. మీదికి ప్రాకు. ఎగరో౛ు ega-rōzu. v. i. To breathe hard. ఎగరొప్పు ega-roppu. n. (p. 207) ogarucu or ఒగర్చు ogaruṭsu. [Tel.] v. i. To gasp, to breathe hard. వగరుచు. ఒగర్పు or ఒగరుపు ogarpu. n. Gasping, difficulty of breathing, panting. ఒగర్పు మూట ogarpu-mūṭa. n. A certain fee or àllowance on grain granted to reapers, &c.
