(p. 81) arundhati arundhati. [Skt.] n. The wife of the sage Vasishtha, celebrated for her virtue వసిష్ఠుని భార్య. A star in the Pleiades. A marriage ceremonies అరుంధతి is invoked by the bridegroom as a pattern of conjugal excellence and the star in the Pleiades which represents the wife of Vasishtha is pointed out to the bridal pair.

(p. 129) āsuramu ā-suramu. [Skt. from ఆసుర.] n. The Asura's fashion: the custom of the Asuras, such as rapine, murder, and violence. ఆసుర వివాహము. The marriage custom of the Asuras, by which the bride was purchased. ఆసురి āsuri. n. A female Asura.

(p. 147) uṅkuva unkuva. [Tel.] n. A pledge money given to the parents of a bride 'originally as a purchase price.' అల్లుడు కన్య కొరకై మామకిచ్చు ద్రవ్యము. శుల్కము.

(p. 188) eduru eduru. [Tel.] n. The front. An opponent ప్రతివిరోధి. adj. ఎదురు opposite, other. అన్యమైన. ఎదురాడు edur-āḍu. (ఎదురు+ఆడు) v. i. To speak against, to oppose. మారాడు. ఎదురీదు to swim against, to resist. ఎదురుకట్టుల or ఎదురుకట్ల eduru-kaṭṭula. adv. In front ఎదుట. ఎదురుకుత్తుక eduru-kuttuka. n. The lock jaw. ఎదురుకొను or ఎదుర్కొను eduru-konu. v. n. & a. To go forward to meet. To act against, to disobey. ఎదురగు, ఎదిరించు. ఎదురుకోలు or ఎదుర్కోలు edur-kōlu. n. The mutual advances of the relations of the bride and bridegroom during the marriage. Going forward to welcome a guest. ఎదురుగడ eduru-gaḍa. n. A joint bond, a reciprocal or mutual agreement. ఎదురు వ్రాసిన ఒడంబడికలోనగునవి. ఎదురుగడగా వ్రాయు to write off (a sum as balance.) ఎదురుగాలి eduru-gāli. n. A head-wind, a contrary wind. ఎదురుచూచు eduru-ṭsūṭsu. v. n. To look forward, expect ప్రతీక్షించు. ఎదురుపడు eduru-paḍu. v. To come forward to meet. ఎదురుగావచ్చు. To be met. వాడు నాకు ఎదురుపడినాడు I met them. ఎదురుపలుకు eduru-paluku. v. n. To object, gainsay. ఎదురురొమ్ము eduru-rommu. n. The chest or breast. రొమ్ము నడిమి భాగము. ఎదురువడ్డి cross interest. ఎదురువ్యాజ్యము eduru-vyājyamu. n. A cross suit ఎదురేగు edur-ēgu. v. i. To send, to make one go. ఊరేగించు To carry (a god, a married couple, &c.) in procession through the town. ఏదుదెంచు ēgu-denṭsu. [Tel. ఏగు+తెంచు] v. i. To go, proceed, repair, resort. పోవు. Also, to come వచ్చు. ఏగుపెండ్లి ēgu-penḍli. n. A procession in which the bride and the bridegroom are carried through the streets of a town at the end of a wedding పెండ్లికడపట వధూవరులను ఊరేగించునట్టి వేడుక.

(p. 198) ēnāḷlu or ఏన్నాళ్లు ē-nāḷḷu. [Tel. ఏను+నాళ్లు] n. Five days. Presents sent to each other by the bride's and the bride groom's parents after the wedding పెండ్లియయిన తరువాత వియ్యంకులొకరికొకరు పంపే సారె.

A daughter. పెండ్లికొమార్తె a bride. [The Skt. కుమారుడు+కుమారి are apparently derived from this Dravidian root.]

To make one read; to get some one to read. ఆ బాబును చదివించుకొంటిని I got the letter read to me. To get proclaimed what one presents to a bride or bride-groom on the occasion of their marriage. చదివింపులు ṭsadivimpulu. n. Homage or adoration accompanied with a certain recited formula.
