(p. 123) ārōhaṇamu ārōhaṇamu. [Skt.] n. Ascent, a staircase, Elevating, raising. ధ్వజారోహణము a certain rite at the beginning of a feast when the 'flag is raised.' ఆరోహము ārōhamu, n. Length, ascent, rising, creeping up. The buttocks. పిరుదులు, నితంబము. 'ఆరోహభరముననడుగులు తడబడ.' B. VIII. 450. స్వరారోహము rising notes, swell in music. ఆరోహించు ārōhinṭsu. v. n. To mount upon. ఆరోహుడు or ఆరోహకుడు a rider. గుర్రపు రౌతు.

(p. 816) pōka pōka. [Tel.] n. The areca or betel-nut-palm, Areca catechu, (Watts). An areca nut. పోకంతయన్నము a morsel of food 'అనుచు, పోకలకుండ చట్రాతిమీద పగుల వేయుచు' Kanyaka Pur. viii. 266. So saying she hurled a jar full of nuts down on the floor. 'నిజముపోకయు నీకుమేమీము.' HD. i. 1527. పోకగంజి pōka-ganji. n. The Catechu. Terra japonica, కాచ. పోకపేరు pōka-pēru. n. A kind of cake, భక్ష్యవిశషము. పోకబంతివువ్యు pōka-banti-puvvu. n. The flower called Bachelor's button. పోకముడి pōka-muḍi. n. The knot that secures a woman's petticoat at the girdle. పోక ముడిసడలించె she unloosed her petticoat. పోకొత్తు pōk-ottu. (పోక+ఒత్తు.) n. Nippers for breaking the betel nut. అడకొత్తు.

(p. 859) banti banti. [Tel.] n. A ball to play with. చెండు, కందుకము. Any ball whether formed of cloth or of flowers, &c. The flower called a marigold. A flower, called Bachelor's button. ఊకబంతి మొదలైనవి. బంతి (for Skt. పజ్క్తి.) n. A row, line, rank. A row of bullocks driven abreast to thrash out corn. బంతికట్టు the rope used to yoke a row of bullocks together to thrash corn. బంతికుడుపు banti-kuḍupu. n. A dinner party, అనేకులు కూడి భుజించుట. బంతితోలు to drive bullocks to thrash corn. బంతివిడుచు to release bullocks after thrashing corn. బంతులాడు bantul-āḍu. v. n. To play at ball. బంతులాట playing at ball.

(p. 1287) sakina , సకినె or సగిన sakina. [from Skt. శకునము.] n. An artificial bird, the figure of a bird. కృత్రిమపక్షి, కిర్రుబిళ్ల. A doll, బొమ్మ. A chirping noise, కీచుకీచుమనుధ్వని. 'తెలిముత్తియంపుబల్, సకిసెలకూకలం గిలకిలన్నగు మోహన శయ్యనున్నెడన్.' Vasu. vi. 111. టీ సకల =కీచుబిళ్ల 'సకినలతలగడల్ చప్పుడైననుతోనకవకివల్ గొణుగుపావురపుజోళ్లు.' A bedding formed on a frame of wood, having orifices covered with perforated brass buttons that make a whistling or squeaking sound, గిలకలపట్టెమంచము. కోళ్లు బొమ్మలుగా చేసిన మంచము.
