(p. 27) acatanamu a-chētanamu. [Skt. lit. live-less]. adj. Devoid of life. Inanimate, insensible.

(p. 33) aḍa aḍa. [Tel.] n. A lump, clot, mass (as of dates, sugar, hair, &c.) ముద్ద, చింతపండడలు lumps of tamarind. అడకట్టు or అడగొను to become clotted. ముద్దకట్టుకొను. తల అడలుకట్టినది the hair became matted, all the tresses are matted together. అడచేయు aḍa-chēyu. [Tel.] v. To knead and make into lump.

(p. 54) anukūlamu anu-kūlamu. [Skt.] adj. Favourable, friendly, assisting, salubrious. హీతమైన, సహాయమైన, ఆరోగ్యమైన, శ్రేయస్కరమైన. అనుకూలమైన గాలి a favourable wind. వాని శరీరమునకు అనుకూలమైన స్థలము the place which agrees with him. అనుకూలమైనమాట a friendly word. అనుకూలశత్రువు a friendly enemy అనుకూల కాలము a suitable time. అనుకూలము or అనుకూలత n. Favour, goodness, kindness, aid. సహాయము, మేలు, దయ. దయ ద్రవ్యానుకూలము means, resource. దైవానుకూలము వల్ల by the grace of God. అనుకూలించు, అనుకూలపడు or అనుకూలమగు anukūlinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To be of use ఒదవు. To have effect, to have a good result. సఫలమగు, ఒనగూడు. అనుకూలము కాలేదు it failed, it had not the desired effect. నాకు ఇంకా రూకలు అనుకూల పడలేదు I have not yet obtained the money ఈ పని నీకు అనుకూలమగును you will succeed in this business. అనుకూలము చేయు or అనుకూలవరచు anukūlamuchēyu. v. a. To shew favour, to bring a thing about, to countenance. సహాయము చేయు, నెరవేర్చు. కార్యమును అనుకూలము చేసికొన్నారు they brought it about, brought it to a conclusion. అనుకూలుడు anukūluḍu. n. A friend, ally, patron. హితుడు, సహాయుడు, ఉపకారి. వాడు నాకు అనుకూలుడు he is well disposed towards me.

(p. 67) abaṭucēpa abaṭu-chēpa. [Tel.] n. A fish, a species of Balistes (Russell, Fishes, plate 21.)

(p. 80) ariṭicēpa ariṭi-chēpa. [Tel.] n. A fish like a whiting (సోరంగి). The tucks at the waist in front of a petticoat.

(p. 109) āgaḍamu āgaḍamu. [Tel.] n. Sport, jesting, fun, wantonness. ఆగడకాడు or ఆగడీడు āgaḍakāḍu n. A scoffer, one who teases. ఆగడముచేయు āgaḍamu-chēyu. To tease, sport with. అగడనృపుడు (P. i. 520.) a troublesome master, a wanton ruler, a tyrant.

(p. 114) ādā . ādā [H from Skt. ఆదాయము] n. Profit, gain, advantage. ఆదాయము. ఆదాచేయు or ఆదాపరచు ādā-chēyu. v. a. To realise or collect the value.

(p. 116) āpu āpu. [Tel. Causative of ఆగు] v. a. To hold back, restrain, check, stop. ఆపు చేయు, ఆగించు. ఆపు or ఆపుదల āpu. n. A stoppage. ఆపుట. Support. ఆసరా, సహాయము. ఆపుచేయు āpu-chēyu. v. t. To check, stop, stay, suspend. నిలుపుదల చేయు.

(p. 124) ālasyamu ālasyamu. [Skt.] n. Delay. heedlessness; sloth, idleness. జాగు, సోమరితనము. ఆలస్యముచేయు or ఆలసించు ālasyamu-chēyu. v. n. To delay, to idle or trifle time away.

(p. 125) āliṅganamu ālinganamu. [Skt.] n. An embrace; ఆలింగనము చేయు ālinganamu-chēyu. v. t. To embrace. కౌగిలించు. ఆలింగ్యము ālingyamu. A sort of drum made like a cow's head.

(p. 128) āsa āsa. Same as ఆశ. (q. v.) 'ఆసకుమేరలేదు కనకాద్రి సమానధనంబుకూర్చినన్ కాసును వెమటరాదు, కనికానక చేసిన పుణ్యపాపముల్ వీసరపోవు. ' ఆసచేయు or ఆసపడు or ఆసించు āṣachēyu. [Tel.] v. i. To desire. ఆశించు.

(p. 140) illa illa. [Drav. the basis of such words as లేదు, లేక, &c.] A Kanarese word for లేదు, నాస్తి Kuchēlo. ii. 118. R. i. 45.

(p. 150) uccāṭanamu uchchāṭanamu. [Skt.] n. Routing, driving away. ఉచ్చాటనము చేయు uchchāṭanamu-chēyu. v. To exorcise, drive out (evil spirits.)

(p. 152) uḍuta or ఉడత uḍuta. [Tel.] n. A squirrel. ఉడుతభక్తి the squirrel's devotion, Kuchēlo. i. 130 (When Rāma was building his bridge between Ceylon and the mainland, the squirrel came to lend his little aid: Rama in approbation stroked the squirrel down the back, which accounts for the white marks seen upon it.)

(p. 153) uḍḍa or ఉడ్డా uḍḍa. [Tel.] n. Four, a parcel or pack of four, నాలుగు; an assemblage or collection, a heap or pile. రాశి. ఉడ్డాచేయు uḍḍā-chēyu. v. a. To collect in a heap or crowd.
