(p. 8) aṇṭu antu [Tel.] v. t. To touch. అంటించు to cause to touch. అంటినట్టుగా ఉండే close at hand. ఆ ఊరితో అంటినట్టుగా ఉండే ఒకపల్లె a hamlet close by the town. వానికి అదరంటినది fear seized him. తెల్ల అంటుతీగె convolvulus dentatus.

(p. 37) aḍucu aḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To close, to shut. మూసివేయు. అందులో నాలుగు వాకిళ్లు అడిచియున్నవి four of the gates are closed, ఆ గుడ్లను ఈ పెట్టెలో అడుచు (here అడుచు is for అణచు) cram the clothes into the box. Also, v. a. To beat, strike, thrash. To destroy కొట్టు, వళింపచేయు. 'ఎమ్ములిరియుగ శిలతో నడిచిన.' P. i. 729. అడుచుకొను aḍuṭsukonu. v. To contract, choke, be stopped. ఆ కాలవలో ఇసుక అడుచుకొన్నది the channel is choked with sand. వాని రొమ్మడుచుకొన్నది he has a contraction of the chest. గొంతు అడుచుకొన్నది, మాట్లాడకూడలేదు his throat is hoarse, he cannot speak.

(p. 72) abhyarṇamu abhyarṇamu. [Skt.] adj. Contiguous, near, close. సమీపమైన.

(p. 79) aramōḍcu ara-mōḍṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To half close. సగముమూయు. అరమోడ్పు adj. Half closed. సగముమూసి కొన్న. 'అరమోడ్పుకనుదోయి రసపారవశ్యవిభ్రమము దెలుప.' T. iv. 79.

(p. 81) aru Same as అర్రు (q. v.) అరుతెవులు aru-tevulu. n. Consumption. క్షయరోగము అరుత or అరుతన్ Loc. of అర్రు. On the neck. కంఠమునందు. 'ఆరుతలిమగము డదరసిచూడు.' Vema. 1777. అరుత or అర్త aruta. (p. 97) aviraḷamu a-viraḷamu. [Skt.] adj. Thick, close, dense. నిబిడమైన, దట్టమైన.

(p. 119) āyamu āyamu. [Tel. and Skt.] n. A vital part of the body. జీవస్థానము particulars, details, Receipt, gain, profit. వచ్చుబడి, ఆదాయము. Toll, tax customs, income. సుంకము. Rate, standard, fixed number. ఆయకట్టు āya-kaṭṭu. ఆయము+కట్టు.] ఆయము, లేక, ఆదాయము యొక్క నిర్ణయము, ప్రమాణము. A yard, an enclosure. Quantity, extent of land, an account specifying the varieties of kinds of soil in a certain field. ఆ యింటి ఆయకట్టుకులోగా within the compound of the house. ఆయమునకు వెచ్చమధికమైన if the expense is greater than the income. ఆయంపాటిగాయం or ఆయంపట్టుగాయం a mortal wound. ఆయముల సోకన్ to the quick.

(p. 126) āvaraṇamu āvaraṇamu. [Skt.] n. A precinct, premises, enclosure, compound; space enclosed round a house or garden. ఆవరించు or ఆవరించుకొను āvarinṭsu. v. t. To surround, hem in. To cover all over as a creeping plant or grass does. చుట్టుకొను.

(p. 127) āvṛtamu ā-vritamu. [Skt.] adj. Enclosed, surrounded.

(p. 127) āvēśamu āvēṣamu. [Skt.] n. Possession. Inspiration (by the deity), possession (by evil spirits), fury, demoniac frenzy. అతనికి ఆవేశము వచ్చినది he is possessed. ఆవేశనము āvēsanamu. n. A manufactory or workshop పట్టడ. ఆవేశించు āvēṣinṭsu. v. a. To enter in, to possess (as a demon does.) ప్రవేశించు, చొచ్చు. ఆవేష్టకము āvēshṭakamu. n. A hedge, fence or enclosure. ముండ్లకంచె.
