An arrangement of words in verse forming the shape of a sword. ఖడ్గమృగము khaḍga-mṛigamu. n. The rhinoceros. ఖడ్గవాదము khaḍga-vādamu. n. Violence: force of arms a combat: a duel.

(p. 567) tōlu or త్రోలు tōlu. [Tel.] v. a. To drive. వాటిని తన మందలోకి తోలుకొన్నాడు he drove them into his flock. కపిలతోలు to draw (water,) with a bucket, raised by oxen, to work (a pump.) పోదోలు to drive off, తోలివేయు to drive off, to rout. తోలించు, తోలుచు or తోల్చచు tōlinṭsu. v. n. To cause to drive, &c. తోలలుపార tōlu-pāra. n. A sort of fish called Scombar. Russell, plate 137: also called సుద్దుపార.

(p. 700) paḍava paḍava. [Tel.] n. A boat. దోసె, War, combat, fighting, యుద్ధము. Imminent danger, peril, a fatal accident, ప్రళయము. ఈ పడవ గడిస్తే if I can only get over this hobble or scrape. 'అరదంబు నందుండి తన తనయుండైన భగదత్తుండు ముందు నడువ పడవకైవచ్చెనంత.' Satyabhāma. iv. 134. పడవరము or పడవలము paḍava-ramu. (పడలు+వలము.) n. The vanguard of an army, సేనాముఖము. 'గొల్లవల్లభుకపుడు కట్టంబు మిక్కిలి కానుకలిచ్చి, పడవలంబులదూల పలుమారు నేసి.' Pal. 80. పడువరు to proceed or go before, ముందునడుచు. పడవాగె or పడివాగె paḍa-vāge. adj. Prepared. Bridled. కళ్లెము పెట్టి స్థిరపరచిన. 'ఇనుడప్పు డజుడౌట మునుమున్ను పడవాగెగొని వచ్చు రాయంచకొదమయనగ.' Swa. iii. 74. టీ కళ్లెముపెట్టి స్థిరపరచి తేబడినటువంటి, అనగా ముస్తీబైవచ్చినటువంటి. పడవాలు, పడవాలుడు or పడాలు paḍavālu. n. A commander of an army. సేనాధిపతి, దళవాయి. 'కనపపులు వేల్పుపడవాలుగన్నచోటు.' Swa. ii. 9. టీ ': వేల్పుపడవాలు, దేవతలకు సేనాధిపతి. 'ధనంజయుండు తమతోడంజనుదేరదగు పరివారంబు సమకట్టం బడవాళ్లంబనిచె.' M. XIV. iii. 4. పడసాల paḍa-sāla. (పడలు+సాల.) n. A hall, a portico. కూటము, కూటాము. 'పడసాల ముంగిలి పందిలి పసిగాడి.' Suca. iii. 469.

A fight, combat, struggle, quarrel; teasing, troubling, insistence. ఇంటిలోనిపోరు family jars or brawls. ఆ పిల్ల పోరుపెట్టుచున్నది the child is giving a lot of trouble. పిచ్చికపోరు the uproar that sparrows make. పోరుట pōruṭa. n. To cry aloud, as a child. పోరాడు or పోరితమాడు pōr-āḍu. v. n. To fight, grapple, contend, struggle. కలహించు, యుద్ధముచేయు. పోరాట or పోరాటము pōr-āta. n. A combat, a fight, a dispute, కలహము, యుద్ధము. పోరించు pōrinṭsu. v. n. To breed a quarrel, to incite to quarrel. జగడానకు ఉసికొల్పు. 'నీపోటువాటుననిపుడిట్లుమమ్ము, పోరించితివిజంత్రబొమ్మనాయక్క.' (p. 1139) valayu valayu. [Tel.] v. n. To be liked, desired or wanted. ఇష్టమగు, విహితమగు. To be needful, or necessary, ఆవశ్యకమగు. To be proper, యుక్తమగు. To be surrounded, వలయతమగు. 'మృగమువలయంబారెన్.' పంచ. నా. ii. 'స్వబుద్ధిరాజుకు విశేషింపవలయు' (P. i. 391.) the use of his own judgment is much needed in a king. 'కయ్యమునకు నెయ్యమునకు వియ్యమునకు సమతవలయు.' (ib. ii. 47.) in combat, in inter-marriage, and in friendship equality is wanted; or, there should be a similarity. 'ఔగాములరయవలయు.' (ib. iv. 431.) you should look to the chances of gain or loss, of success or failure. వలె, వలెను, వలసినది or వలయును are added as auxiliaries, to the Root in the Infinitive of any verb; to give the idea of obligation or necessity; నేను ఇమటికి పోవలెను I must go home. నీవు ఇక్కడికి రావలెను you must come here, you should come here, I hope you will come here. తమదయ రావలెను మా దరిద్రము తీరవలెను I hope your favour will come and that my poverty will be removed. ఆయన రేపో ఎల్లుండో రావలెను he must be here tomorrow or the next day, i.e., we expect him here tomorrow or the next day. వాడు దానితమ్ముడుగా ఉండవలెను I suppose he must be her brother. నాకు ఆ పుస్తకము కావలెను I want that book. వాణ్ని చంపియుండవలెను they must have killed him. నీకు అట్లురావలెను this serves you right. నీవు సందేహింపవలసినదిలేదు you need not doubt it, there is no occasion to doubt it. వాణ్ని పిలువవలెనని అక్కడికి వెళ్లితిని I went there to call him. ఈ పని చేయవలెనని పోవుచుండగా as I was going there to do this. జగడమాడవలెనని వస్తివా did you come on purpose (or wanting) to quarrel? వలసి (the past p|| of వలయు.) ఇవ్వవలసి యిస్తిని I paid it, because I had to. 'నిశాచరునుద్యోగంబుచూచుకొనవలసి.' Swa. iv. 163. అట్లు చేయవలసివచ్చును it will become necessary to do so. వలసిన (past part of వలయు) is used as an affix (similar to the Latin-ibilis or endus). చెల్లింపవలసిన సొమ్ము money due, the sum payable. 'వ;సినసంపదల్ గలుగవా.' T. ii. 34. టీ వలసిన, కావలసినటువంటి. వలసె or వలసెను (the past tense of వలయు) it became necessary, or requisite. వానితో చెప్పవలసె I was obliged to tell him. 'వినిపింపరాని కార్యము వినిపింపగవలసె.' Swa. iv. 176. The negative aorist of this, వలవదు, వలదు, See under వలదు.
