(p. 9) aṇṭlu anṭlu. [Tel.] n. plu. Cooking utensils that are not washed clean. ఆ తపెలలో ఇంకా అంట్లు పోలేదు the pot is not yet cleaned (from the sticking, i. e.,) from the fragments of boiled rice. నేను యింకా అంట్లు తోమలేదు. I have not yet cleaned the cooking utensils.

(p. 19) akka akka. [Tel. a Dravidian word borrowed by Sanskrit, where it is used in the sense of mother. cf. Lat. acca] n. An elder sister. అక్కచెల్లెళ్లు elder and younger sisters. పెద్దక్క the eldest sister. Any woman older than oneself is usually styled అక్క elder sister, or అమ్మ mother, madam: and any man older than onself is usually styled అస్న elder brother, or, అయ్య father, sir. పంటలక్క a cook or kitchen maid. See అక్కలవాడ.

(p. 20) akkalavāḍa akkala-vāḍa. [Tel.] n. A street in which cook maids live. వంటచేసే ఆణంగులు ఉండేవీధి. 'అక్కల వాడలనరకూళ్లుమెక్కి.' A. vi. 92.

(p. 23) agapa or అబక agapa. [Tel.] n. A ladle, a scoop made of a cocoanut shell. టెంకా యచ్చిప్పగరిటె. A. 1. 39.

(p. 34) aḍabāla aḍabāla. [Tel.] n. A cook. వంటవాడు, వంటలక్క. ద్వి అడబాలకొనిపోయి యమ్మీనుఁజించి కడుపులో నొకబాలుగనివెరగంది. Bhag X.

(p. 35) aḍasāla aḍa-sāla. [Tel.] n. A cook house a cook room, kitchen. వంటయిల్లు.

(p. 50) anavaṭillu anavaṭillu. [Tel.] v. to. To settle, dry and cool a little so as to be fit for eating, as boiled rice. ఉమ్మగిల్లు. అన్నము ఉడికి చల్లారు.

(p. 52) anipiñcu anipinṭsụ. [Tel. causative of అను.] v. n. To cause one to say. జ్వరములో ఉరికె నీళ్లు తాగవలెననిపించును in a fever one is inclined to drink constantly. ఇంత చల్లగాలి కొట్టితే ఎండకాలమనిపించదు while this cool breeze blows it does not seem to be summer (lit.) the heat is not felt. యోగ్యుడనిపించుకొన్నాడు he was considered a good man.

(p. 91) allitemmara or అల్లితెమ్మెర alli-temmara. [Tel.] n. A cool breeze. చల్లని గాలి.

(p. 108) ākhuvu ākhuvu. [Skt.] n. A rat. ఎలుక. a bandicoot. పందికొక్కు.

(p. 122) āru or ఆరిపోవు āru. [Tel.] v. n. To dry, be dried up. To be quenched, or extinguished. To be cooled, to cool. To be appeased, allayed, mollified. To heal or be cured, as a wound. To be blunted. చేతడి ఆరదు the hand is yet wet: i.e., I have this moment finished the work. ఆరుచు అరసోయు to put to dry. ఆరవేయు or ఆరపెట్టు to dry or cause to dry by exposure to the sun or air. ఆరని without intermission, unceasing.

(p. 123) ārcu or అరచు ārṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To cry aloud, about, roar. కూయు, కేకవేయు. ఆర్చు or అరుచు v. a. To dry up, to quench, extinguish, to cool, dry, appease, allay, to heal or cure, destroy, to dry in the sun, to expose to heat, to cause to dry; to move to and fro. ఆడించు. to move the eyelid. పోకార్చు to ruin, destroy. విక్రయమార్చు to sell. BD. v. 526.

(p. 127) āvi āvi. [Tel.] n. Steam, vapour. ఆవిరి. Heat. తాపము. M. v. iii. 39. To breathe into a handkerchief and put it to the eye to relieve pain. ఆవించు āvinṭsu. v. t. To cook in steam. ఆవిపట్టు āvi-paṭṭu. v. t. To inhale steam or to pass steam over.

(p. 141) ivataḷiñcu or ఇవతాళించు ivataḷinṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To become cool, to be chill or cool. చల్లపడు, చల్లగానుండు. ఇవతాళింపు ivatāḷimpu. n. Coldness, chillness. చలువ కలుగుట.
