(p. 12) antastu antastu. [Tel.] n. A secret place a hiding place, a corner. A square compartment. తొట్టికట్టు A storey, or range, one above another, as the decks of a ship. రెండు అంతస్తుల యిల్లు a two storeyed house. 'ఎరుగవలసిన యంతస్తులెల్లజూచె.' పర.4.అ. (p. 64) apāṅgamu apāngamu. [Skt.] n. The outer corner of the eye. కడకన్ను.

(p. 79) aramu aramu. [Skt.] adj. Swift: speedy. వడిగల, వేగమైన. అరము n. The spoke or radius of a wheel, the edge of a weapon: a corner or angle. ఆయుధధార. చక్రపు అంచు. కోణము. 'అరపంచకసంయూక్తాస్వస్తికా కారశాలిని.' Anand. T. xii. 27. 'సహస్రారచక్రము.' N. vi. 69. A discus or circular missile weapon.

(p. 100) aṣṭa ashṭa [Skt. cf. Eng. 'Eight,' Lat. Octo.] adj. Eight.--అష్టకష్టములు The eight unpleasant circumstances liable to occur in the course of life. [Viz. దేశాంతర గమనము foreign travel, భార్యావియోగము separation from one's wife. కష్టకాలములో ప్రియబంధుదర్శనము friends and relations arriving in the time of trouble, ఎంగిలితినడము eating the leavings of others, తన, శత్రువులతో స్నేహము చేయడము courting one's enemies, పరాన్నమునకు కాచియుండడము looking for food from strangers, సభలో అప్రతిష్ఠవచ్చుట being ignorant in an assembly of wise men, దరిద్రమనుభవించడము suffering poverty.] అష్టకోణి an octagon, అష్టదిక్కులు the eight points of the compass.--అష్టదిక్పాలకులు the regents of the eight points of the compass, viz. Indra of the East, Agni of the South-east, Yama of the South, Nairriti of the South-west, Varuṇa of the West, Marut of the North-west, Kubēra of the North, and Iṣana of the South-east.--అష్టదిగ్గజములు the elephants supporting the eight corners of the earth-అష్టనగములు the eight serpents supporting the eight angles or points of the world. Their names are as follow: వాసుకి, అనంతుడు, తక్షకుడు, శంఖపాలుడు, కుళికుడు, పద్ముడు, మహాపద్ముడు, కార్కోటకుడు. అష్టవదులు a certain set of songs of eight lines in length.-అష్టపాత్రములు the eight vessels used in a sacrifice.--అష్టభాగ్యములు the eight requisites to the regal state; as రాజ్యము territory, భండారము wealth, సేన్యము an army, ఏనుగులు elephants, గుర్రములు horses, ఛత్రము an umbrella, చామరము a fly fan or whisk, ఆందోళిక a palanquin.--అష్టభోగములు the eight sources of pleasure, viz., ఇల్లు house, పరుపు bed,వస్త్రము raiment, అభరణము jewels, స్త్రీలు women, పుష్పము, flowers, గంధము perfume, తాంబూలము areca nuts and betel-leaves.--అష్టమదములు eight kinds of pride, viz., అన్నమదము luxury in food, అర్థమదము pride of wealth, స్త్రీమదము pride of lust, విద్యామదము pride of learning, కులమదము, pride of rank and family, రూపమదము pride of beauty, ఉద్యోగమదము pride of station, యౌవనమదము pride of youth.-- అష్టస్వామ్యములు the eight respects in which an absolute conveyance is made, viz., విక్రయ, దాన, వినిమయ, జల, తరు, పాషాణ, విధి, నిక్షేపములు -- అష్టాంగములు See under అంగము. సాష్టాంగదండము prostration in worship. -అష్టాపదము an eight legged dragon: a spider. అష్టావధానము See under అవధానము. అష్టైశ్వర్యములు complete comfort, every blessing, also eight attributes, viz., అణిమ, మహిమ, గరిమ, లఘిమ, ప్రాప్తి, ప్రాకామ్యము, ఈశత్వము, వశిత్వము.

(p. 204) aimūla ai-mūla. [Tel. for అయిమూల] adj. Oblique, diagonal. Oblong and crooked. Rhomboidal. మూలవాటు. ఆ యిల్లు అయిమూలగానున్నది that house is crooked, not straight; ఆ యిల్లు అయిమూలనున్నది that house is in a corner.

(p. 219) ōru ōru. [Tel. from హోరు] n. Sound, noise. Red colour applied to the walls of a house on festive occasions. ఇంటిగోడయడు గనను మూలలను వేసే ఎర్రమంటిపట్టె. ఓరు adj. Large. ఓరుగాలి a great or noisy wind మిక్కిలి బలముగల గాలి. ఓరుతీయు ōru-tīyu. v. i. To mark red streaks on the walls and corners of a house. గోడలమీదను మూలలను ఎర్రమంటితో పట్టెలు తీర్చు.

(p. 234) kaḍa kaḍa. [Tel.] n. A place, quarter, or direction. దిక్కు, పార్శ్వము. The end, extremity అంతము. Distance దూరము. Proximity, సమీపము. ఇరుగడ on both sides. కట్టకడ at the very end. కడకు at last చివరకు. వెలిగడ dry ground. పరగడ a neighbouring field. తలగడ a pillow, being the place of head. చెట్టుకడ at the tree. అతని కడకు వచ్చిరి they came to him. కడ adj. Last. అంత్యము కడసారి the last time. కడ (affix) By, near, at. In the hands or possession of. అది నాకడనున్నది I have it by me. వాని పాదాలకడ పడినారు they fell down at his feet మావాండ్లకడ ఆ మర్యాద కద్దు it is the custom with us, or among us. ౛ాముపొద్దుకడ at sunset. పెందలకడ early. రేపకడ in the morning. కడకుపోవు or కడగాపోవు kaḍaku-pōvu. To be menstruous. కడకన్ను kaḍa-kannu. n. The corner of the eye. క్రేగన్ను, కటాక్షము. కడకంటచూచు kaḍakaṇṭa-ṭsūṭsu. v. n. To glance, view sidelong, to look askance. కడకొరివి kaḍa-koravi. n. A fire brand not quite burnt up కాలగా మిగిలిన కట్టె. కడగా kaḍa-gā. adv. Aside, away. కడలేని kaḍa-lēni. adj. Endless. కడవాడు kaḍa-vāḍu.n. A stranger అన్యుడు. The last male child కనిష్ఠుడు. కడసారి kada-sāri. adj & adv. Last, the last time.

(p. 243) kannāku kannāku. [Tel. కన్ను+ఆకు.] n. The spoke of a spinning wheel, which, being the last put in, keeps the rest all tight. The outside leaf in a bundle of betal leaves. The finishing bit or corner stone; that which keeps all the rest right. A noble or excellent person. రక్షకుడు; ముఖ్యుడు, అగ్రేసరుడు. M. VI. i. 92.

(p. 295) kuni kuni. [Tel.] n. An angle, a bit of land. లోకుని a piece or corner of land.

(p. 303) kūḍu kūḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit. తగు. To unite చేరు. To be possible. To accrue, be amassed, gained, acquired, come to hand. To agree, be united. v. a. To meet. To add or sum up. ఇందులో కూడినపని a matter connected herewith. దొమ్మికూడివచ్చిరి they came in a a mob. ఇదియును కూడక పోయిన and if this be out of the question. ఇది కూడకుంటే if this is impracticable. ఇక్కడికి రాకూడక as I could not go there. వారు నోరెత్తగూడలేదు they could not say a word. కూడని kūḍani. adj. Unsuitable, improper. కూడనిమాట an unappropriate word. కూడబడు kūḍa-baḍu. v. n. To meet, unite చేరు. కూడబెట్టు kūḍa-beṭṭu. v. a. To collect. చేర్చు. To save as money. కూడమి kūḍami. n. Impossibility. కూడముట్టు kūḍa-muṭṭu. v. t. To run after తరుముకొనిపోవు, to overtake or come up with కలిసికొను. కూడలి kūḍali. n. Joining, meeting. కూడలిపట్టు a place of meeting. కూడలిదారి kūḍali-dāri. n. The place where various roads meet. కూడలిరాయి kūḍali-rāyi. n. A corner stone. కూడలివాయి kūḍali-vāyi. n. The gable end of a house. రెండుపంచలుచేరిన మూలనున్న నీటిదారి. కూడిక kūḍika. n. Junction, చేరిక. Collocation, juxtaposition. Saving, frugality. (p. 323) koliki koliki. [Tel.] n. The tip or end. మొన. A hook or loop కొక్కి. The corner of the eye near the nose ముక్కు కంటిన కంటిమూల. దారమునకు కొలికికట్టినది she made a loop in the string. ఈ దాన్యమునందు కొలుకులు తెలుగు in this poem the terminations of words alone are Telugu. కొలికితెచ్చు to master సాధించు. కొలికికివచ్చు to become subject to one, to come into one's power. వాడు ఏడు ఊళ్లను కొలికికి తెచ్చును he will put seven villages on one ring, i.e., he will have them under his thumb. కొలికిపూస koliki-pūsa. n. The chief gem in a necklace. కొలికికి తగిలించేపూశ. కొలికిముడి koliki-muḍi. n. A noose: a loop. వదులుముడి.

(p. 324) kollāramu or కొల్లారు kollāramu. [Tel.] n. A square enclosure, with chambers built at the corners. భవంతి. కొల్లారుబండి or కొల్లాబండి a car రథము, గాడీ. 'గాలికన్నను వేగజను చులకనివి యివెకొల్లారుబండ్లు.' S. i. 158.

(p. 327) kōna kōna. [Tel.] n. A dell or glade of gorge in the hills, a recess. కొండలలోని మరుగు చోటు. కోన or కుని a corner, a narrow place కొన, మూల. A garden. కోనసీమ the delta of a river; a place of gardens. 'కోనబిట్టేర్చెగొట్టానదగిలె' ఆము. i. A forest అడవి. కోనత్రిమ్మరి a forest-rover, i.e., a monkey వనచరము. కోనదునికి a monkey.
