The name is given to some insects, as a moth, thus, ఆకుచిలక, వడ్లచిలక a moth. గడ్డిచిలక, సీతాకోకచిలక a butterfly. A padlock. The bolt or hasp of a door, because these originally had parrot's heads on them. చిలుకల కొలికి a bright-eyed girl or woman. చక్కని స్త్రీ. చిలకకూర or చిలకతోటకూర chilaka-kūra. n. A kind of pot-herb, Amarantus fasciatus. (Watts.) చిలక, చిలకట or చిలుకడ chilaka. n. A saddle buckle: a ring at the end of the rope used as a girth of the bullock saddle through which the other end is passed to fasten the saddle. కొలికిముడి. చిలకడతాడు chilakada-tāḍu. n. A cornice, border, ledge: shelf on a wall: the eaves of a roof. కాలుపట్టియీడ్చితే చూరుపట్టి వ్రేలాడుతాను though you haul me by the legs I will hang on to the eaves, i.e., though thou reject me I will not cease to cling to thee. చూరు v. n. To be charred or smoked. చూరుకర్ర or పొగ చూరుకర్ర charred wood చూరుకమ్మి or చూరుపట్టె ṭsūru-kammi. n. (p. 582) daruzu or దరు౛ు daruḍzu. [H.] n. A cornice, a frieze, a joining, a seam in carpentry or masonry గోడకొననుగాని స్తంభపు కొననుగాని చేసియుండే చిత్రపుపని. దురు౛ుసున్నము plaster made of lime.

(p. 756) pippali pippali. [Skt.] n. Long pepper, Anthrocnemum indicum. పిప్పళ్లబియ్యము grains of this pepper. నరుపిప్పలి a plant called Sphenoclea zeylanica. Rox. i. 507. కొయ్యపిప్పలి a plant called Salicornia brachiata. గజపిప్పలి a plant called Pothos officinalis, or Tomex scbifera. Rox. iii. 819. అది పిప్పళ్లబస్తావలెనున్నది it (or she) is as strong as a horse: lit: as a sack (బస్తా) of this pepper. పిప్పలికట్టె the dried root of the long pepper. పిప్పలిదుంప the root of the long pepper. పిప్పళ్లమోడి the thick or woody part (మోడి) of the long pepper vine.

(p. 773) puli or పుల్ల puli. [Tel.] adj. Acid, sour. పులికడుగు sour washings, i.e., water in which raw rice has been washed and is then left to ferment. పులికూడు food that has turned sour. పులికాపు puli-kāpu. n. A mixture of tamarinds in water with which copper or brass images are scoured. పులిగంజి sour gruel. పులిగడుగు puli-gaḍugu. v. a. To wash. (కడుగు) pearls, &c. in (పులి) acid, to restore their brilliancy To scour, burnish. 'నలువురిమును నీగతిమతి నిలుపుమహాత్ములకు నాత్మనిర్మలమగుచో, పులిగడిగినట్లురాగా, దులసంగతిచేతమున్ను దూషితమైనన్.'
