(p. 179) eṇḍrakāya or ఎండ్రి or ఎండ్రిక eṇḍra-kāya. [Tel.] n. A crab. కర్కటము. ఎండ్రిరాశి eṇḍri-rāṣi. n. The sign of the Crab.

(p. 252) karkaramu or కర్కటకము karkaṭamu. [Skt.] n. A crab. ఎండ్రి. The sign Cancer. కర్కటిగర్భమువలె like the crab's fœtus. For, like the young of the viper the crabs are supposed to be born by rending and killing the mother.

(p. 273) kāya kāya. [Tel. from కాచు.] n. 1. A green unripe fruit. అరటికాయలు green plantains. 2. A nut, berry, pod, bulb, knob, head. 3. Anything round, as the head (తలకాయ) the bob of a plummet: a boss or round piece. 4. The word is used for a thing or article: as a piece at chess తుంటకాయ a wicked thing or creature. 5. A pimple: a wart. తవ్వడముచేత వాడిచేతులు కాయలుకాచినవి his hands are callous or hard with digging: he has a wart on his hand. 7. A bottle. రెండు కాయలను ఒకడే తీసుకొన్నాడు he alone drank two bottles. 8. As an affix it often leaves the sense unaltered: thus తల or తలకాయ the head. పిల్ల or పిల్లకాయ a child. గొంతు or గొంతుకాయ the throat. పుస్తె or పుస్తెకాయ a marriage token worn on the neck మొట్టు or మొట్టికాయ a blow or knock. ఎండ్రకాయ a crab. చెంపకాయ a slap on the cheek. Some fruits are called కాయ even though ripe, thus (from టెంకి shell) టెంకాయ a cocoanut. మిరపకాయ a chillie. ఉల్లికాయ an onion. కూరగాయలు or కాయగూరలు vegetables. కాయధాన్యములు kāya-dhānyamulu. n. Pulse: all sorts of grain contained in pods: as పెసలు, కందులు, సెనగలు, &c.

(p. 299) kuḷīramu knḷīramu. [Skt.] n. A crab. కర్కటము, ఎండ్రకాయ.

(p. 367) giṭṭa giṭṭa. [Tel.] n. A hoof, of either horses or oxen. The claws of a crab or scorpion. An arrow. బాణము.

(p. 495) ḍekka ḍekka. [Tel.] n. A hoof, a fin, a crab's claw.

(p. 680) nēpāḷamu nēpāḷamu. [Skt.] n. The 'Nepaul plant' or physic nut, (Jack Spratt), Croton ṭiglium. Called also the coral plant from the flowers which look like red coral. See under ఆముదము. Rox. iii. 687. 682. నేపాళబడిదె a crabstick (or blackthorn) cudgel. వెర్రినేపాళము the common coral plant, which is worthless. నేపాళదేశము nēpāḷa-dēṣamu. n. The couṇtry of Nepaul.

(p. 761) pīta pīta. [Tel.] n. A crab. ఎండ్రకాయ. ఎలుగోతిపీత the crab called Portunus menestho. (Linn.) పిత [Skt.] n. Saffron. పసుపు. పీతము pītamu. adj. Drunk up. n. Yellowness. adj. Yellow. పీతదారువు pīta-dāruvu. n. A tree called the deodar. దేవదారువు. పితాంబరము pīt-āmbaramu. n. A yellow garment. పీతాంబరుడు pīt-āmbaruḍu. n. The god who is clothed in a saffron robe, an epithet of Vishṇu. పీతముండము pīta-munḍamu. n. A yellow throated bird. పచ్చతల పిచ్చుక.

(p. 1019) mṛti mṛiti. [Skt mṛi = to die.] n. Death చావు. మృతిబొందు mṛiti-bondu. v. n. To die. చచ్చు. మృతుడు mṛituḍu. n. One who is deceased, or dead. చచ్చినవాడు. జీవన్మృతుడు dead while alive. మృతము mṛitamu. adj. Dead, expired. చచ్చిన. మృతమర్త్యుడు mṛita-nashṭamu. a dead man. మృతనష్టము. adj. Dead, merged, extinct, as a family or heirship. వారు మృతనష్టమైపోయినాడు the family became extinct. మృత్యువు mṛityuvu. n. Death. మరణము. The god of death, కృంతాంతుడు, మరణాధిదేవత. మృత్యుంజయుడు mṛityun-jayuḍu. n. The victor over death, i.e., Siva. మిత్తిగొంగ. మృత్యుసూతి mṛityu-sūti. n. That which bears young, and then dies, i.e., the crab, which, like the viper, is supposed to be destroyed by its young. పీత.
