(p. 15) anthramu or ఆంధ్రము andhramu. [Skt.] n. A Sanscrit name for the Telugu language. తెలుగు. ఆంధ్రదేశము the Telugu country తెలుగుదేశము. 'ఆంధ్రమధుమథనుని.' A pref. 12 'ఆంధ్రజలజాక్షుడిట్టులని యానతిచ్చె.' ib pre. 14.

(p. 32) aṭṭi aṭṭi. adj. pron. Such, like that అటువంటి Such a man అట్టివాడు అట్టిట్టు n. (lit. that way and this way.) Confusion. అయినమట్టుకు వాడు ఈ ఊరిని అట్టిట్టుచేసి వెళ్లినాడు he ruined this place. అట్టిట్టుగా adv. In a confused state. వానికి ఇప్పుడు అట్టిట్టుగానున్నది he is in a very critical state. అట్టిద it is such or is it such? అటువంటిదే.

(p. 42) adanu adanu. [Tel.] n. An opportunity, season, critical point of time. సమయము. 'చెరుపనదను చూచి.' A. iv. 292.

(p. 45) adharvaṇakārika adharvaṇa-kārika. [Skt.] n. The name of a certain grammatical treatise written in Sanscrit, regarding Telugu, of which only some fragment remain.

(p. 108) ākṣēpamu , ఆక్షేపణ ākshēpamu. [Skt.] n. Censure, blame, reproach, criticism, scruple, objection, a question. ఆక్షేపించు ākshēpinṭsu. v. t. To criticise, to object, to question. ఆక్షేపకుడు akshēpakuḍu n. One who criticises or objects. అక్షేపించువాడు. అక్షిప్తుడు akshiptuḍu. n. One who is blamed or censured. నిరాక్షేపముగా above all question, blame or reproach, unquestionably. దురాక్షేపణ a groundless cavil.

(p. 156) utsahiñcu or ఉత్సాహించు ut-sahinṭsu.[Skt.] v. i. To attempt. యత్నించు. To triumph, to rejoïce. సంతోషించు. ఉత్సాహము ut-sāhamu. n. Perseverance. Alacrity. Glee, eagerness, mettle, spirit, jollity, bloom of beauty. ఉత్సాహపురుషుడు a man of mettle. ఉత్సాహ సంపన్నుడు sanguine, straight forward, mettlesome.

(p. 202) ai The vowel AI as the i in pride. The shape ఐ is used as an initial in the dictionary and in poetry, but elsewhere the Telugus use a secondary form అయి 'AYI' instead: The secondary form అయి ayi is used in poetry as a dissyllable, whenever the metre requires two short syllables for AI, which is one long. The Y in అయి is not pronounced. Thus అయిదు is not pronounced ayidu, but ai-du. In Telugu words there is this liberty of spelling; but the longer form ayi ought never to be used in words of Sanscrit origin.

(p. 291) kuṭilamu kuṭilamu. [Skt.] adj. Crooked, cross, illnatured. కుటిలకుంతల, or కుటిలాలక a girl with curly locks. కుటిలబుద్ధి a crooked disposition, hypocrisy. కుటిలత్వము kuṭilatvamu. n. Crookedness. కుటిలుడు kuṭiluḍa. n. A wicked man: a hypocrite.

(p. 306) kṛtrimamu kṛitrimamu. [Skt.] n. A trick craft, art, chicanery. adj. Artificial made by art. మనుష్యులచేత చేయబడినది. Seeming, apparent, not real, deceitful. కృత్రిమమత్స్యము an artificial fish. కృత్రిమమిత్రుడు a false friend; a hypocritical ally.

(p. 393) gōmukhamu gō-mukhamu. [Skt.] n. A sort of trumpet. Also smearing with cowdung. The front or spout of the lingam. The spout for water in the wall of a temple. గోముఖవ్యాఘ్రము gō-mukha-vyāghramu. n. A tiger in the disguise of a cow, i.e., a hypocrite. పైకి మంచివాని వలెనుండే దుష్టుడు.
