(p. 238) kattera kattera. [Tel.] n. Scissors. The constellation or sign called కృత్తిక. The period of time when the sun is between the signs భరణి, రోహిణి and కృత్తిక. కత్తెర కాలు kattera-kālu. n. The upright cross pieces of wood in a dooly or litter, that connect the bottom with the pole above. కత్తెరగడ్డము kattera-gaddamu. n. A cropped beard. కత్తెరగాయము kattera-gāyamu. n. A certain kind of window గవాక్ష విశేషము. కత్తెరచీల kattera-chīla. n. A pin on which a lever acts. మీట ఆడే చీల. కత్తెరదొంగ kattera-donga. n. A cut purse. కత్తెరబావిలీలు kattera-bāvilīlu. n. An ornament of gold and gems worn by women near the top of the ear. కత్తెరయెండ kattera-yeṇḍa. n. Fierce heat. కత్తెరరాయ kattera-rāyi. n. Marble; a kind of black stone, which is sonorous like metal. కత్తెరవాసములు kattera-vāsamulu. n. Bamboos arranged against each other like the blades of scissors.

(p. 564) tōṭa tōṭa. [Tel.] n. A garden. తోటకాపు, తోటమాలి, తోటవాడు or తోటీడు' a gardener. తోటకూర tōṭa-kūra. n. Greens, garden herbs. The green produce of a garden is divided into ఆకుకూరలు or తోటకూరలు vegetables, the leaf of which is eaten, such as spinach and cabbage: and కాయకూరలు of which the pod, fruit, or head is eaten, such as brinjals, cucumbers, &c. కొయ్యతోటకూర or కొయ్యగూర is the phrase for all such plants as sprout after being cut, like camomile: and పెరుగుతోటకూర is the class of herbs which do not send forth shoots after being cut. తోటకూర is also a particular herb, called Braid in French. Amaranthus Tristis, (Rox. iii. 604.) Amaranthus gangeticus, or Amaranthus oleraccus. పెద్దతోటకూర Amaranthus giganteus. దొగ్గలితోటకూర Amaranthus polygamus. ముళ్లతోటకూర or నల్లదొగ్గలితోటకూర the Pricklly Amaranth, Amaranthus spinosus. ఎర్రకోడిజుట్టు తోటకూర or మయూరశిఖి Celosia cristata (Watts.) సిగ్గనగా తోటకూరవంటిది modesty grows anew in the heart like a cropped herb. తోటకూరవంటి like mere green stuff, i.e., weak, feeble తోటకూరవంటిపని a mere greenherb business. తోటకూరగింజవంటిది small as a mustard seed.

(p. 910) bōḍa , బోడి or బోడు bōḍa. [Tel.] adj. Bald, bare, hornless, cropped. n. A monk. సన్యాసి. బోడితల bald-head. బోడితలతో వచ్చినాడు he came with his head bare or uncovered. బోడిఆవు a hornless cow. బోడిఅమ్ము a blunt arrow, an arrow without a point. వారిని బాగా బోడిచేసినాడు he stripped them bare, or plundered them. బోడియేనుగు a tuskless elephant. బోడిచెట్టు a pollard or a tree with the boughs cut off. బోడతీరువ gross tax (as on a crop) without deducting charges. 'ఆసపడిబోడవైన నేనగుదుగాని యింటి సొమ్మెక్కకాసైన నియ్య.' S. ix. 3. బోడడు a bald headed man, బోడివాడు. బోడతరము bōda-taramu. n. A plant, Sphœranthus indicus. శ్రావణీ, ముండినిచెట్టు.
