(p. 689) paṇḍu panḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To ripen, ఫలించు To be accomplished. To be produced (as salt from the ground) to effloresce, to crystallize n. A fruit, a berry. adj. Ripe, mature. వాని కాలము పండినది this is harvest time for him. పండకాగు to be red hot. ఆ యినుమును పండకాచినాడు he made the iron red hot. పంట panṭa. n. Ripening. పండుట. Cultivation. కృషి. Produce, a crop. పంటకాపు panṭa-kāpu. n. A husbandman. పంటకాపులు panṭa-kāpulu. n. Farmers. పంటచెరువు a tank for watering rice fields. కల్లుపంట దినములు the toddy season. పలపులపంట my beloved. 'రతనంపు పంటల రమణి నిర్వంక.' Vencatach Mah: iii. 203. పంటపొలము panṭa-polamu. n. A cultivated field. పండిన పొలము. పంటమన్ను panṭa-mannu. n. Plough, land, good soil. పంటవలతి, పంటచెలి, పంటపొలతి or పంటతొయ్యలి a poetical phrase for 'the earth. పంటవలంతివింటిదొర. n. Cupid, i.e., Lord of the earth born bow, i.e., the bow of sugar cane which grows from the earth: 'పంటవలంతివింటి దొరబారికి నోరువలేక.' T. iii. 3. పంటసాల panṭa-sāla. n. A granary, ఉగ్రాణము, కణజము. పండబారు panḍa-bāru. v. n. To mellow or begin to ripen. To grow pale, turn white. పండించు panḍinṭsu. v. a. To cause to ripen. పండజేయు. పండుకోతి an old monkey. పండుటాకు a ripened leaf. పండువెన్నెల lit: ripened moonlight: full moon light, the brilliancy of the full moon. ముసిలిపండు an old crone. (opposed to కాయ in the sense పిల్లకాయ) In shopkeeper's cant పండు means చింతపండు tamarind. There is a bird called వంగపండు. మామిడిపండు a ripe mango. పండు కప్ప or పండుచేప pandu-kappa. n. The perch or cock-up fish, of which there are many species. Russell No. 131. పండు మీనుతట్టము dried fish.

(p. 745) pāla pāla. [Tel. from పాలు milk.] n. The bird called the Indian Roller, boracias indica (F.B.I.) the flight of which is consulted as an omen. It is erroneously called a blue jay. Various varieties are called గొర్రెపాలపిట్ట and మేకపాలపిట్ట. See Jerdon No. 243. A treatise on Omens says. 'పాలగరుడతప్ప పక్షిజాతులకెల్ల నెడమమండికుడికి నెగయవలయు.' పాల or పాలతీగ n. A certain tree, ఇక్షుగంధ, క్షీరికావృక్షము; of which there are various species as, అడవిపాలతీగ Nerium reticulatum, కాకిపాలతీగ Asclepias asthmatica, దూదిపాలతీగ Asclepias volubilis, మట్టపాలతీగ Convolvulus paniculatus; చిరుపాల, అనగా ఉటని. Q. మన్నుపాల, అనగా ఉత్పల కృష్ణ. Q. పాలపండు, అనగా కనిష్ట. Q. Various species of the 'milk plant' are called మేకపాలతీగ, కుక్కపాలతీగ, &c. పాల adj. White. పాలవెండి pure silver. పాలకన్ను pāla-kannu. n. The butter that sticks to the bottom of a milk pot. పాలచెట్టు pāla-cheṭṭu. n. A species of the Mimusops tree. పాలచేప pāla-chēpa. n. A sort of Salmon. పాలచేరులు or పాలచేర్లు pāla-chērulu. n. The nerves. బీజములకు పైననుండునరాలు, గ౛్జనరాలు. 'సీ పాలచేరులపట్టి తూలింప బలిమి నీడ్చుకొని డొంకలదూరి చుట్టబెట్టు.' Swa. iv. 68. 'సీ కటికినెత్తురులతో గండలుర్లిపడంగ, జేరి పందులపాల చేర్లుకరచు.' S. i. 202. పాలటేకు or పాలతేకు pāla-ṭēku. n. The white wooded teak tree. పాలడ pālaḍa. (పాలు+అడుగు.) n. A shell used as a spoon or ladle in giving milk to a child. పాలతుత్తము or పాలతుత్తరము pāta-tuttamu. n. White vitriol. పాలపండ్లు pāla-panḍlu. n. Milk teeth. Also (from పండు,) a sort of sweet white berries. A. iv. 114. పాలపపడు pāla-pāpaḍu. n. An infant at the breast. పాలవెడిస or పాలవలిస pālapeḍisa. n. The white shark. సముద్రమందు మనుష్యులను భక్షించే పెద్ద చేప. పాలాకు pāl-āku. n. A certain herb. చిటిపాలాకు is one sort. పాలానుగు pālānugu. n. The white gourd, ఆనుగుతీగె, దుగ్ధతుంబి. See పాలు.

(p. 748) pāvili or పావలి pāvili. [Tel.] n. The herb called the Thick-leaved Sorrel. Its species are బంకపావిలి, Portulacca crystallina, Rox. ii. 464. and బుడ్డపావిలి Trianthema monogyna, (Heyne). Also గొడ్డుపావిలి, పుల్లపావిలి, పెద్దపావిలి, సన్నపావిలి, కుక్కపావిలి and బొడ్డుపావిలి.

(p. 782) pūvu pūvu. [Tel.] n. A flower. పువ్వు. పూలమట్ట pūla-maṭṭa. n. A kind of fish. పూలముడుపు pūla-muḍupu. n. Adorning the head with flowers. పూవత్తి or పువ్వత్తి pū-vatti. n. A kind of fire works, which give a white light. పూవింటి ౛ోదు, పూవింటివాడు, పూవిలుకాడు or పూవిలుతుడు pū-vinṭi-ḍzōdu. n. An epithet of Manmadha. పూవుబోడి or పువ్వుబోడి (See under పూ. పూవుగట్టు pūvu-gaṭṭu. (పూవు+కట్టు.) v. n. To crystallise. పువ్వు కలదియగు. పూలగురివెంద pūla-gurivonḍa. n.
