(p. 297) kuruca or కురచ kuruṭsa. [Tel.] adj. Little, short, stumpy, diminutive, dwarfish. కురుచ n. A sort of war dance: సాధనభేదమైన నాట్యము, సాముభేదము. కురుచవేల్పు kuruṭsa-vēlpu. n. The 'stumpy god,' Gaṇēsa. కురుచపడు kuruṭsa-paḍa. v. n. To become short, to be diminished. తగ్గు. See. కురు.

(p. 314) koñcemu or కొంచియము konchemu. [Tel.] n. A little. Littlleness న్యూనత. కొంచెము కొంచెముగా little by little. కొంచెముగా ఎంచు to esteem slightly. కొంచెములో వచ్చినాడు in a little (time) he arrived, i.e., very soon. కొంచెపు బుద్ధి little sense. adj. Little, small, trifling, slight, petty, the least: contemptible, vile, low. కొంచెపువాడు a low fellow. కొంచెముసేపటికి in a short time. కొంచెముచేయు or కొంచెపరుచు konchemu-chēyu. v. a. To diminish. To wrong or injure. కొంచెపుపాటి kon-chepu-pāṭi. adj. Small, middle-sized. కొంచెమున konchemu-na. adv. In the least, for a trifle. కొంచెకత్తె konche-katte. n. A low or common woman. అల్పురాలు, సామాన్యురాలు. కొంచెకాడు konche-kāḍu. n. A low or common man. అల్పుడు సామాన్యుడు. కొంచెతనము konche-. tanamu. n. (p. 339) kṣayamu kshayamu. [Skt.] n. Decrease, perishing, wasting, consumption. క్షీణించడము, తక్కువకావడము, క్షయరోగము, అరుగుతెపులు. క్షయరోగము kshaya-rōgamu. n. Consumption, Phthisis. క్షయించు kshayinṭsu. v. n. To diminish, waste, wane. క్షీణించు, తగ్గు.

(p. 340) kṣīṇamu kshīṇamu. [Skt.] adj. Wasted, emaciated, decayed, exhausted, slender, thin. క్షయించిన, హీనమైన, కృశించిన, నశించిన, మదక్షీణోనాగః an elephant which is emaciated in its rut. క్షీణైపుణ్యేమర్త్యలోకంవిశంతి when their stock of merit [enjoyed by good men] is exhausted, they drop [in the shape of falling stars] again into mortal life. క్షీణపుణ్యులు those whose merit is exhausted. అక్షీణ undiminished. Vasu. i. 7. క్షీణము n. Decline, decay, decrease. క్షయము, తగ్గు. ఆయుఃక్షీణము the decline of one's age. ధనక్షీణము decrease of wealth. క్షీణత or క్షీణత్వము kshīṇata. n. Slenderness, thinness, emaciation, decay. కార్శ్యము, నాశము. క్షీణించు kshīṇinṭsu. v. n. To be wasted, emaciated, decayed. కృశించు, సన్నగిల్లు, నశించు, క్షీణమగు.

(p. 407) cāndrāyaṇamu chāndr-āyaṇamu. [Skt.] n. A religious or expiatory observance regulated by the moon's age. It consists in diminishing the daily consumption of food every day by one mouthful for the dark half of the month and increasing it in like manner during the light half. Expiatory ceremonies performed by the whole city or kingdom in atonement for some heinous sin the consequences of which affect the people.

(p. 428) ceḍu cheḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To be spoiled or damaged. To become rotten or worthless. To become wicked or bad. To be dispelled, dissipated, or done away with as darkness. To become bad, damaged or ruined. నశించు, కనబడకపోవు. To change, be altered from its original state. 'నకారము చెడి అర్థబిందువు వచ్చెను (Appa. C. ii. 31.) the letter N is dropt and the nasal sign (sunna) is substituted.' అది చెడె it is ruined! వాసిచెడినకాంతి with diminished brilliancy. నీ సంశయము చెడును your doubts shall be dissipated. M. XIII. v. 97. చెడగొట్టు cheḍa-goṭṭu. v. t. To ruin, spoil. చెడనాడు cheḍa-n-āḍu. v. t. To blame. నిందించు. To curse. To say 'Be it ruined'! To scorn. To waste, throw away. చెడిప cheḍipa. (చెడిన+అప.) n. An unchaste woman. రంకుటాలు. చెడు adj. Vile, worthless, Horrid, abominable. చెడుచిక్కు a terrible difficulty. చెడుగు cheḍugu. adj. Ruined, vile, worthless, Cruel క్రూరము. n. Evil, a misfortune or calamity. అశుభము. A bad woman దుష్టురాలు. చెడుగడు or చెడుగొట్టు cheḍu-gaḍu. n. A miscreant, a wretch. క్రూరుడు. P. i. 559. చెడ్డ cheḍḍa. (contracted form చెడిన.) adj. Bad, spoiled ruined, lost. Terrible, awful, tremendous. Hard, cruel. n. Evil. కీడు. మంచిచెడ్డలు good and bad. కులముచెడ్డవాడు one who has lost caste. తలచెడ్డచెట్టు a pollard, a tree that has lost its head. చెడ్డతనము cheḍḍa-tanamu. n. Badness, wickedness, severity.

(p. 501) taggu taggu. [Tel.] v. n. To become less, to decrease, diminish fall (in price,) abate, తక్కువగు. To go back, withdraw, retire, వెనుకకుతీయు. తగ్గుమొగ్గులు taggu-moggulu. n. To contract, shrivel, crack, open, split. జ్వరముతీసినది the fever went down. వెన్నుతీయు to come forth, or be produced (as a sprout,) to bud. కాళ్లు తీయుచున్నవి my legs throb or ache. ఏరు తీసిపోయినది the river has gone down. వెనక తీయు to fail, retire, withdraw, retreat, hesitate, or flinch. నాలుకతీసినది my tongue is dry, I am thirsty. వాని ఒళ్లు మిక్కిలి తీసిపోయినది he is greatly fallen away in flesh. నీళ్లు తీసిపోవు to dry up, sink, diminish, be exhausted. బలమంతా తీసిపోయినది my strength has gone. పాతర తీసియున్నది the granary was opened. తీయక unintermittingly, without intermission. వెనకతీయక without hesitation. తియ్యకుండా unfailingly, uninterruptedly, without intermission. తీయని incessant, unceasing. తీయించు tīyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to remove, get removed. తీసివేయు tīsi-vēyu. v. t. To take away. To dismiss. To sever ఖండించు. తీసివేతకాకితాలు tīsi-vēta-kāki-talu. n. Outside sheets of paper: paper that is taken away. తీసిపోవు tīsi-pōvu. v. n. To diminish. తగ్గు. తీసుక for తీసుకొని bringing. తీసుకరా bring. తీసుకపో take away. తీసికొను or తీసుకొను tīsi-konu. v. a. (p. 592) digu digu. [Tel.] v. n. To come down from a higher place. To alight, drop, come or go down, descend from; to dismount. To be landed, unladen, or disembarked, as goods. దిగుమతియగు. To fail, break down, sink, fall back, fall in debt or arrears. దిగబడు. To lodge, dwell, halt, ప్రయాణమందు దారిలో విడియు. To distil, or drop down, as any secretion. To settle, as sediment or dregs. To abate, cease, go off, become less, diminish, as fatness. To sink, as ink in paper, or water in earth. To penetrate or go in, as a stab. To come forth, as fruit from the bud, as in మామిడికాయలు దిగుచున్నవి. ఒళ్లు దిగిపోయినది he is reduced by sickness. బుడ్డదిగినమనిషి a man with a rupture. దానికి నీళ్లు దిగవు she cannot swallow. మదముదిగిన యేనగు an elephant not in rut. ఆ పనిలో దిగినాడు he went into that business. Earth, soil, mud Scurf or dandruff. మట్టితిన్నపామువలె పడియున్నాడు he is as stupid as a snake gorged with mud. మట్టిగుర్రమున నమ్మి యేటిలోదిగుట to rely on a mud horse and go into a river, i.e., to trust to appearances. మట్టితైలము or మట్టినూనె maṭṭi-tadama. n. Trampling, walking over. త్రొక్కుడు. Limit, bounds, measure, restriction, extent; moderation. పర్యంతము. ప్రమాణము. మితి, కొలత, తగ్గుదల. A settle or ring of cord, fibre, &c. to prevent a pot from rolling over, కుదురు. A place, ప్రదేశము. పైమట్టు the upper place or part. అడుగుమట్టు the bottom. ఆ బల్లమట్టుపట్టి తీసుకొనిరా measure the plank కావడిమట్టు the frame or bottom of the slings in a Kāvadi. వానికి తెలివిమట్టు he is wanting in sense. వానితో చెప్పినది నాబుద్ధే మట్టు I was a fool to tell him this. ఈ సంవత్సరము జనముమట్టు this year the assembly is but small. వానికి పుణ్యగతులుమట్టు he has no chance of heaven. మట్టుబీర a kind of బీరకాయ (q. v.) మట్టుగిన్నె a cup with a foot or base attached to it. adj. Limited, small. మితము, తక్కువ. మట్టుకు as far as, up to as much as, in regard to, until, as long as. దీనికి ఒకమట్టుమితములేదు there is no end or limit to it. మట్టుమర్యాదలేనివాడు he who has neither modesty nor moderation. మట్టుమీరవద్దు you must not go beyond bounds. అతడు వచ్చువరకు అని దీనికి ఒకమట్టుపెట్టిరి they laid it aside until his arrival, మనసుచెదరనీక మట్టుపెట్టి.' (Vēma. ii. 278.) curbing and restraining the mind. ఈ మట్టున లేచిపోయిరి with this they went away or thereupon they went away. పోడుగుపడి అంతమట్టున వాన నిలిచినది there was a thunderbolt and then the rain ceased. వానికి అంతమట్టుకు తెలియదు he does not know so much. ఎంతమట్టుకు పోయినావు how far did you go? గొంతుమట్టుకు నీళ్లువస్తున్నవి the water is up to the neck. వాడు ఎంతమట్టుకుంటే అంతమట్టుకు సంతోషిస్తాడు he contents himself with as much as he gets. నా ప్రాణములు ఉన్న మట్టుకు as long as I have life. నామట్టుకు నేను ఉంటాను నీమట్టుకు నీవు ఉండు I shall keep to myself, you keep to yourself. బియ్యము కావలసిన మట్టుకు చిక్కును you can get as much rice as you want. సొమ్ములుమట్టుకు నాకు వద్దు as for the jewels I do not want them. అంతమట్టుకు మంచిపని చేస్తిని so far you did well. ఇంతమట్టుకు వచ్చిన తరువాత ఇకనేమి దాక్షిణ్యము when the matter has come to such a push what is the use of delicacy? వానికి తిండిమట్టుకు బాగా కావలెను he cares for nothing but his dinner. నేనుమట్టుకు పోతిని I alone went. వాని ఒళ్లు శానామట్టుకు నాసిగానున్నది his health is in a great measure recovered. మట్టుఅగు. మట్టుకొను or మట్టుపడు maṭṭu-agu. v. n. To lessen or be diminished. తగ్గు, అడగు. కుదురుపడు. రోగము మట్టుపడినది the disease is moderating. వానికి దాహము మట్టుపడినది his thirst was slackened. మట్టుగా maṭṭu-gā. adv. Moderately, మితముగా. వర్షము మట్టుగానున్నప్పుడు when the rain is moderate. దగ్గు మట్టుగానున్నది the cough is now moderate. మట్టుగా తిన్నాడు he ate moderately. మట్టు చేయు or మట్టుపరచు maṭṭu-chēyu. v. a.
