(p. 181) ekku ekku. [Tel.] v. a. & n. To rise, increase, swell. To appear (by its effects as wine, water, poison, or medicine.) To affect the mind. To prevail as a report; to come to notice వాని తలకు మదము ఎక్కినది he is beside himself with pride or lust. వానికి మత్తెక్కినది he is intoxicated. వడ్డియెక్కినది interest has accrued. ఎక్కినవడ్డి the interest that accrued. వాని దుష్టగుణములు నీకు ఎక్కినవి you have caught his bad habits, or, followed his example. వార్తకెక్కు to become the theme or topic of discourse. వన్నెకెక్కినాడు he became celebrated, rose to distinction. వాసికెక్కిన celebrated, honoured. ఎన్నికకెక్కినాడు one who has risen to reputation. పది గంటలపొద్దు ఎక్కిన వేళ when it was ten o'clock, lit. when the sun has mounted (to) ten hours. ఆ పనికి ఎవరును ఎక్కలేదు no one came forward, or volunteered for the business. అతని మాట యెక్కదు his word will not do, or avail. తలకు నీళ్లెక్కి ౛లుబుగానున్నది the water has got into the head and I have a cold. To mount on, get upon. మంచమెక్కు to take to one's bed. ఎక్కుకొను ekku-konu. v. a. To mount on ఆరోహించు.

(p. 395) gōṣṭhi gōshṭi. [Skt.] n. An assembly, or meeting for conversation, a secret assembly of the initiated. సభ. A discourse, conversation or talk సల్లాసము.

(p. 831) pratyākhyātamu praty-ākhyātamu [Skt.] adj. Prohibited, forbidden, denied, refused. Removed, set aside. Discouraged, నిరాకృతము. ప్రత్యాఖ్యాతుండయ్యె he was discouraged or refused. ప్రత్యాఖ్యానము praty-ākhyānamu. n. Rejection, refutation, disallowance, disregard, denial, refusal. నిరసనము, కూడదనడము.

(p. 840) prasaṅgamu pra-sangamu. [Skt.] n. Addiction to, connection with. A conversation, talk, discussion. ప్రస్తావము, సల్లాపము, సంగతి Connected reasoning or argument. విషయ విస్తరము, వాదము. A discourse, speech, sermon, lecture. ఆ పండితుల ప్రసంగము చేయుచుండిరి the Pandits were holding a disputation. ఇకను ఆ ప్రసంగము మానుకొండి have done with that discussion. ప్రసంగ సంగత్యా in the course of conversation. అధికప్రసంగము talkativeness. ప్రసంగించు prasang-inṭsu. v. n. To talk about, to discuss, ప్రస్తావించు, వాదించు. To make a speech. ప్రసక్తి pra-sakti. n. A topic, or subject of conversation. ఆ ప్రసక్తి నాకు తెలియదు I know nothing about the matter. ప్రసక్తించు prasakt-inṭsu. v. n. To talk about, to be related to (a subject). ప్రస్తావమునకువచ్చు.

(p. 998) muccaṭa muṭsṭsaṭa. [Tel.] n. Conversation, discourse, talk. సల్లాపము. A story; news, tidings, వృత్తాంతము. Wish, desire, longing, కోరిక. Love, ప్రేమము, వేడుక. వెర్రి ముచ్చట prattle, tattle. మనకువచ్చిన నష్టము వట్టిముచ్చటకాదు the loss we suffered is no mere talk, or is no trifle. అది నాకు ముచ్చటగుచున్నది I am fond of it. వానికి మాట్లాడడమే ఒకముచ్చట he is fond of conversation. 'ఒచ్చెంబులేనికూరిమి ముచ్చటలాడుచుమ.' T. iii. 7. 'వచ్చి నా ముచ్చటలదీర్పు మెచ్చుగాను.' N. vii. 182. ముచ్చటగానుండే elegant, handsome, attractive, charming, pleasing, ముద్దుగానుండే. ముచ్చటకాడు muṭsṭsaṭa-kāḍu. n. One who desires, కోరికగలవాడు. ముచ్చటపడు muṭsṭsata-paḍu. v. n. To fall in love with, be enamoured of, to wish, long for, desire, ఆశపడు, కోరు. ముచ్చటించు, ముచ్చటలాడు or ముచ్చటాడు muṭsṭsaṭ-inṭsu. v. n. To converse, to talk. సంభాషించు.

(p. 1282) sambhāṣaṇa or సంభాషణము sam-bhashaụa. [Skt.] n. Conversation, discourse, talk. చక్కగా మాట్లాడడము. సంభాషించు sam-bhā-sh-intsu. v. n. To converse, talk, చక్కగా మాట్లాడు, సభాషణము చేయు.

(p. 1326) sāramu sāramu. [Skt.] n. Essence, substance, the essential or vital part. The pith, sap, marrow. Juice. Vigour. The effect or purport. Riches, wealth. మూలగ, మెదడు. చేవ, జలము, పత్త, ఫలము. విత్తము, అర్థము, రసము. 'సారాస్వాదన, ప్రాణపంచకము దృష్ణంబాషి సంతర్పణన్.' A. vi. 29. టీ సారాస్వాదన, మెదడునుభుజింపగా, లోహసారము steel. వేదాంతసారము the essence of Theology; (this is the title of a certain Christain book) శూన్యసారము the essence of emptiness. భూసారము the fertility or richness of the earth. ఇందులో సారములేదు in this I see nothing of any worth. సారములేనిమాటలు dry and empty discourse. adj. Excellent, fruitful, rich, శ్రేష్ఠమైన. సారఖండము a rich or fruitful country of soil. 'సారాచారము' అనగా, శ్రేష్ఠమైన. సారవంతము. M. XIII. ii. సారతరము sāra-taramu. adj. More excellent. మిక్కిలిశ్రేష్ఠమైన. సారవంతము sāra-vantamu. adj. Fruitful, fertile, rich. సారాంశము the essence or purport of any matter. సారవత్తరము sāra-vat-taramu. adj. Best, most excellent. మిక్కిలి శ్రేష్ఠమైన. సారాంశము sār-āmṣamu. n. The essential part, the pith, gist or purport. An issue framed by a court. సత్త, నిగ్గు, సారస్యము.

'మనసు సుప్రసన్నత నొందెన్.' Vish. i. 5. సుప్రసిద్ధముగా most celebrated, లోకరూఢిగా. సుబద్ధము correct, true, free from error, నిజమైన; truth, fact, right, నిజము. సుభటుడు a champion, a warrior, రౌతు. సుభాషితము a good word, eloquence an eloquent word, మంచివాక్కు. 'ఆలవిప్రుడాద్విజులోన సుభాషితముంబఠింపగన్.' సుభిక్షము plenty; prosperous, plentiful, (the opposite is దుర్భిక్షము scarcity.) సుభిక్షముగానుండుకాలము a time of plenty. సుమతి good sense, a sound mind: a wise heart, మంచిబుద్ధి, సుద్భుద్ధి. సుమనస్కుడు a good hearted or benevolent man, మంచిమనస్సుగలవాడు. సుమహితము most excellent, దివ్యమైన, సురసము sweet, well favoured, elegant, మధురమైన, సుందరమైన. సురక్షితము well guarded, secure, safe, comfortable, క్షేమమైన, హాయిగానుండే. సురక్షితముగా happily, safely, in a flourishing state, క్షేమముగా, హాయిగా. సురుచిరము beautiful, lovely, engaging, సుందరమైన, రమణీయమైన, మనోజ్ఞమైన. సురూపము handsome well formed. మనోహరమైన. సురూపుడు a handsome looking man. సువచనము a good word, మంచిమాట. M. XVI. i. 107. సువాణి a sweet-voiced lady, మంచినోము. గలన్త్ర నుప్రతను a good vow, మంచినోము సుశ్రావ్యము melodious, చెవులకు మిక్కిలి యింపుగానుండే. సుశ్లోకుడు a celebrated man, సత్కీర్తివంతుడు. M.
