(p. 7) añjanamu anjanamu. [Skt.] n. Lamp-black, collyrium, eyesalve, the magic ointment used for the purpose of discovering anything that is concealed. కాటుక. అంజనకాడు a conjurer, he who finds that which is concealed by putting this ointment on his hand or on his eyelashes. అంజనమువేసి చూచు to search for hidden things.

(p. 131) iṅgitamu ingitamu. [Skt.] n. Hint, sign, gesture, symptom. Intention, purpose, inclination. ఆకారేణైన చతురస్తర్కయంతి పరేంగితం, గర్భస్థం కేతకీపుష్ప మమోదదేనైవ షట్పదాః. From the countenance the wise discover the disposition as bees discover the unblown lily by its scent. ఇంగితజ్ఞుడు penetrating, skilful in reading a man's character, one who sees the heart. పరేంగితము knowledge of another's intention.

(p. 189) era era. [Tel.] n. Food. A bait: an incentive. An earthworm, because used as a bait. వానపాము. A sacrifice of flesh. బలి. (M. IX. ii. 120.) Sorrow, sadness. వ్యసనము ఆ శబ్దముయొక్క యెర కనుగొన్నాడు he discovered the recondite sense. ఎరకొను era-konu. To take a bait. To devour. To get angry కోపగించు.

(p. 240) kanipeṭṭu kani-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To wait, expect. ఎదురుచూచు. To watch, guard, tend. To find out, discover. మిమ్మును కనిపెట్టుకొని ఉండేవారు your dependants.

(p. 241) kanugonu or కనుంగొను kanu-gonu. [Tel.] v. a. To see, observe, find out, discover, perceive. చూచు. To bring forth young. ప్రసవించు.

(p. 248) kammi kammi. [Tel.] n. A wire, bar, beam. Border, a fringe, edging. అంచు. A felloe బండికంటికడకమ్మి, కంబి. బ్రహ్మకమ్మి, ముక్కుకమ్మి, or ముక్కమ్మి a nose ring. కమ్మి తీసిపోయినది there is a peg loose, i.e., the plot is discovered. కమ్మిచీర a fringed cloth, or one with a border, edging, or selvage. కమ్మిబండి kammi-banḍi. A cart with wheels having spokes and felloes on the wheels, as opposed to చెకడాబండి a cart with solid wheels.

(p. 501) tagu tagu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit, or proper, to suit or agree, suffice. యుక్తమగు. p|| తగిన or తగ్గ, fit, proper, moderate. Neg. p|| తగని unfit, unsuitable, immoderate, vast, horrid. It is often used impersonally: Thus అట్లు చేయదగునా is it fit to do so? పోదగదు it is not right to go. తెలిసికొనదగును it is possible to discover it 'తపసులుపురమునతగదువర్తింప.' DRK. 204. తగుమాత్రమైన sufficient, some. తగుమాత్రముగా moderately, well, amply. తగుమాత్రముగొప్ప pretty large. Here తగు is used as a p|| instead of తగిన. తగిన tagina (Rel. p|| of తగు.) adj. Fitting, proper, due, right, likely, probable, pretty. తగినమాత్రము pretty well. తగినట్టుగా tagi-n-aṭṭu-gā. adv. Fitly, properly.

(p. 534) tīyu tīyu. [Tel.] v. a. To take. To draw out, take out, extract. ఈడ్చు. To open. excavate, dig. To deduct, take away, subtract. To find (a place in a book), to discover, bring to light. To turn out, discharge, remove. To exact, receive (payment.) To collect, gather, levy as a tax, a fine, పన్ను, లేక అపరాధమునుతీయు. To pull off, take off. To extinguish or put out. To buy. కొను. See తీసికొను. దెబ్బతీయు to give a blow. చెరువుతీయు, బావితీయు. to sink or dig a well or tank. పాతరతీయు to open a pit or granary. పాలుతీయు to milk. జాడతీయు to trace, detect. చేరదీయు to draw towards, to patronise, take into one's service, to embrace. సానదీయు to whet on a stone. గోళ్లుతీయు to cut the nails. దోవతీయు to clear the way, to prepare a path. అతనిసిగ్గుతీసిరి they disgraced him. తాళముతీయు to unlock. వాకిలితీయు to open a door. విడతీయు to loosen or separate. వేరుగాతీయు to separate. ఎండకంచు తీసినట్టు ఉన్నది the sun is a dazzling as (though reflected from) polished metal. తీయు. v. n. To go off, cease, diminish, disappear, be dispelled, intermit, desist from. To draw back, withdraw, retire, stand aside. To contract, shrivel, crack, open, split. జ్వరముతీసినది the fever went down. వెన్నుతీయు to come forth, or be produced (as a sprout,) to bud. కాళ్లు తీయుచున్నవి my legs throb or ache. ఏరు తీసిపోయినది the river has gone down. వెనక తీయు to fail, retire, withdraw, retreat, hesitate, or flinch. నాలుకతీసినది my tongue is dry, I am thirsty. వాని ఒళ్లు మిక్కిలి తీసిపోయినది he is greatly fallen away in flesh. నీళ్లు తీసిపోవు to dry up, sink, diminish, be exhausted. బలమంతా తీసిపోయినది my strength has gone. పాతర తీసియున్నది the granary was opened. తీయక unintermittingly, without intermission. వెనకతీయక without hesitation. తియ్యకుండా unfailingly, uninterruptedly, without intermission. తీయని incessant, unceasing. తీయించు tīyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to remove, get removed. తీసివేయు tīsi-vēyu. v. t. To take away. To dismiss. To sever ఖండించు. తీసివేతకాకితాలు tīsi-vēta-kāki-talu. n. Outside sheets of paper: paper that is taken away. తీసిపోవు tīsi-pōvu. v. n. To diminish. తగ్గు. తీసుక for తీసుకొని bringing. తీసుకరా bring. తీసుకపో take away. తీసికొను or తీసుకొను tīsi-konu. v. a. To take, &c.; to buy; to eat or drink, &c. పనితీసుకొను to exact service. వాడు చాలా దినములనుంచి తీసుకొంటున్నాడు he has been lingering for a long time. దండముతీసుకొనెను he acknowledged or accepted the salutation.

(p. 551) teliyu teliyu. [Tel. from తెలి lit. to become white or plain.] v. n. To appear, come to light. To be known, perceived, seen, felt. To be discovered, or found. విదితమగు, విశదమగు. To wake up మేలుకొను. To become plain or be favoured ప్రసన్నతనొందు. v. a. To know, to perceive. ఎరుగు. 'సర్వమున్ దెలిపితినంచు గర్వితమతిన్ విహరించితి.' భ. i. శతకము. వానికి ఒళ్లు తెలియలేదు he has lost his senses. ఒళ్లు తెలియకుండాపడినది she lay senseless. కన్నులు తెలియనివాడు a blind man. చీకటిలో పిల్లికి కన్నులు తెలియును. a cat can see in the dark. నీకు తెలిసినదా do you see, understand, or know it? తెలిసితెలియక చేసినాడు he did it unwittingly, unintentionally. మతితెలిసిఉండి being conscious, recollecting himsellf. నాకు బుద్ధితెలిసిననాటినుంచి ever since I grew up. ఈ సంగతి నీకు తెలిసియుండనీ I call upon you to be a witness of this, I wish you to observe this. తెలిసినవాడు one who knows, a man of understanding. నిద్ర తెలిసినప్పుడు when he awoke from sleep. తెలియజేయు or తెలియజెప్పు teliya-jēyu. v. a. To make known, to tell, explain, advise, inform. తెలివి telivi. n. Understanding: perception, consciousness, తెలియడము. Wisdom, వివేకము. Brightness, ప్రకాశము, కాంతి, వికాసము Clearness, (ప్రకాశము) కాంతి. Whiteness తెలుపు. 'దిఙ్ముఖంబులవింత తెలివిచేరె.' స్వా. iii. తెలివినొందగా on coming to oneself, on recovering one's senses. తెలివితోచెప్పు to tell discreetly. తెలివికత్తె telivi-katte. n. A wise woman, వివేకముకలది ప్రాజ్ఞ. తెలివికాడు telivi-kāḍu. n. A man of sense. వివేకము కలవాడు, ప్రాజ్ఞుడు. తెలివిడి teliv-iḍi. n. Understanding. The act of making known, తెలియజేయుట. Empty, unoccupied, శూన్యము. బయలుతామర bayalu-tāmara. n. The land lotus, మెట్టతామర. బయలుదేరు or బయలువెడలు bayalu-dēru. v. n. To come out, to go out, to start, నిర్గమించు. To come to light, to be discovered. బయలుపడు, బయల్పడు, బయలుపోవు or బయలుమెరము bayalu-paḍu. v. n. To make its appearance, to become visible, ప్రకాశితమగు. To be found out or discovered, to become publicly known.

(p. 902) bailu, bayilu or బయలు bailu. [Tel.] n. An open field, plain, area. మైదానము. The outside, the exterior. The sky, the expanse of heaven. బాహ్యము. 'పండిన చేలెల్ల బయలుగా మేసి.' (HD. i. 398.) they devoured the corn fields and reduced them to a bare plain. బయలాడుమాట a voice uttered (or heard) from heaven. 'ధారుణిబడిబయలు దన్నుచు నేడ్చు.' (BD. iii. 878.) the baby was kicking with its legs upwards. adj. Open, clear. బైలుదేరు, బయిలుదేరు, or బయలుదేరు bailu-dēru. v. n. To come forth, break out; to begin, start, set out; to come to light, result, appear, be discovered; to prove true or false. To be shed, or to burst forth as tears, తానును ఒక మగవాడుగా బైలుదేరినాడు he set out as if he was a big man. గడ్డబైలుదేరినది a boil rose. వెన్న బైలుదేరినప్పుడు కుండ పగిలినది when the butter was coming the churn burst. ఇల్లువిడిచి బైలుదేరగానే on leaving the house. ఆ ప్రాంతములలో దొంగలు బైలుదేరిరి thieves broke out in that neighbourhood. బైలుదేర్చు bailu-dērṭsu. v. a. To bring out, elicit, bring to light, exhibit. బైలుపడు or బైలగు bailu-paḍu. v. n. To fall out, come to light, be disclosed. ఆ మర్మము బైలుపడినది the secret came to light. బైలుపరచు, బయలుపరచు or బైలుపుచ్చు bailu-paraṭsu. v. a. To bring to light, to reveal. బైలువెళ్లు or బయలువెడలు bailu-vellu. v. n. To start. బైళ్లు or బయళ్లు baiḷḷu. n. plu. Plains. బైట or బయట baiṭa. adv. On the outside, on the plain. Out. బైటపడు or బయటపడు baiṭa-paḍu. v. n. To come out, come to light. To become public. బైటపెట్టు or బయటపెట్టు baiṭa-peṭṭu. v. a. To put forward, to reveal, బహిరంగముచేయు, వెల్లడిచేయు. బైటపోవు or బయటికిపోవు baiṭa-pōvu. v. n. To go out. To go to the necessary. బైటఉండు or బయటనుండు baiṭa-unḍu. v. n. To be outside: to be menstruous, (because excluded from the family.) బైటవేయు or బయటవేయు baiṭa-vēyu. v. a. To cast out. To bring to light, to let a secret out. దీన్ని బైటవేస్తే చూడు take care you don't let this be known. బైటి or బయటి baiṭi. adj. Outer, exterior; strange, foreign. బైటిఊళ్లు the circumjacent villages.

(p. 959) marmamu marmamu. [Skt.] n. A vital part, ఆయము, జీవస్థానము. A secret, a mystery, కిటుకు. Secrecy, mystery, dissimulation, hypocrisy, కపటము, నెపము. సమర్మముగా in full detail, minutely. మర్మస్థానము a private part, vital part. మర్మాన్వేషి one who investigates or tries to discover. మర్మజ్ఞుడు marma-gnyudu. n. An intimate. Lit: One who knows a secret. మర్మమెరిగినవాడు. మర్మి marmi. n. A hypocrite.
