(p. 15) ampakamu or అంపకాలు ampakamu. [Tel.] n. Permission to go; dismission. An entertainment given to a friend on the occasion of his departure. పంపించడము, సెలవు విందుచేసి సాగనంపడము, బహుమానమిచ్చిపంపడము. అంపకముచేయు to dismiss, send away. అల్లునికి అంపకము చేసి పంపిరి they gave the son-in-law the entertainment preparatory to his departure and sent him away. 'బ్రహ్మసభకేనుబోయి కొంత, కాలముదుండి యజుడంపకంబుసేయ, మానవసరంబునకువచ్చి.' H. 4. 7

(p. 54) anucu anuṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To send, dismiss. పంపు. 'నిజపురంబునకనిచెనిందీనరాక్షు.' Swa. v. 132. Also, to command to order.

(p. 56) anupu anupu. [Tel.] n. Toll, customs; ambuscade, ambush, సుంకము. పొంచియుండే చోటు. 'తెరవలిటునీరు పోయ పందిలియు జేరి, యవలగొర గాక పిచ్చుకుంటైయనంగు, డనువుగొనజొచ్చె కల్లగుట్టమర.' (p. 155) uttaruvu uttaruvu. [Skt.] n. An answer, a reply, an order, a command, permission, leave. ఉత్తరువు చెప్పు uttaruvu-cheppu. v. n. To answer or reply. ఉత్తరువు చేయు uttaruvu-chēyu. v. t. To order. ఉత్తరువు పుచ్చుకొను to take leave. ఉత్తరువిచ్చు uttaraviṭṭsu. v. t. To dismiss, give leave, direct.

(p. 316) koṭṭivēyu koṭṭi-vēyu. To strike off, exclude, dismiss, cut off. కొట్టుకొనివచ్చు to be carried towards by wind or water. కొట్టుకొనిపోవు to be blown away, to be carried off. కొట్టుకొను koṭṭu-konu. To beat oneself. To bewail, to lament. To beat, as the pulse. ధాతువు కొట్టుకొంటున్నది the pulse beats. దానిమీద ప్రాణాలు కొట్టుకొంటవి, or దానిమీద మనసు కొట్టుకొంటుంది his heart is set upon her.

(p. 317) koṭṭu koṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To strike, knock. smite, beat, thrash. To attack (as rats do.) To rob, as highwaymen do. To quash, refute, defeat, dismiss, nonsuit. To strike off (the head) or behead. To strike out or rescind (a word). దారులు కొట్టు to rob (on) the high road. గోడను కాగితముకొట్టు to put (or stick) a paper on the wall. చప్పట్లుకొట్టు to clap the hands. అచ్చుకొట్టు to print. కొర్రుకొట్టు to impale. ఈతకొట్టు to swim. నన్నుముకొట్టు to whitewash. నన్ను దొంగలుకొట్టినారు thieves robbed me. చెంపకొట్టు to give a slap on the cheek. బుడ్డికొట్టు to crack a bottle, i.e, drink liquor. తలకొట్టు to behead, to ruin. పిండికొట్టు to pound flour. డేరాకొట్టు to pitch a tent. ఊడగొట్టు to loosen. చెడగొట్టు to spoil or ruin. తేలగొట్టు to set afloat. దిగగొట్టు to drive in. నలియగొట్టు to bruise. పండ్లు రాలగొట్టు to knock out a man's teeth. పగలగొట్టు a break to pieces. పడగొట్టు to throw down. పోగొట్టు to lose. విరుగగొట్టు to break; సాగగొట్టు to beat out (metal). ఊకొట్టు to hum in assent while listening. బుసకొట్టు to hiss. వాడు చేసిన దౌర్జన్యము వాణ్ని కొట్టినది his wickedness has fallen on his own head. నా నోట్లో మన్ను కొట్టినారు they have cast earth into my mouth, i.e., cheated or ruined me. కొట్టించు koṭṭinṭsu. v. t. To cause to beat.

(p. 341) kṣēpamu kshēpamu. [Skt.] n. Scattering, dismissing, rejection. చిమ్మడము. Disrespect, contempt. తిరస్కారము, నింద. Delay, passing time. యాపనము. Encouraging ప్రేరణము. In astronomy, the complement, or sum added in certain computations to fit a given epoch.' Warren, 363, A. v. 154.

(p. 394) gōla gōlā. [Tel.] n. A moan, a howl, a wailing sound; the sound of weeping; ఆలగోలబాలగోల a general howl. కాకిగోల a dismal lament, such as crows utter over a wounded crow. గోలపెట్టు to complain. గోలయెత్తు to raise the voice, wail, cry, howl. గోల n. Simplicity, inexperience. A simpleton, one who is ignorant and innocent. ముగ్ధుడు A simple girl ముగ్ధ. గోలతనము simplicity, silliness. గోలక్రోతులు gōla-krōtulu. n. A game played by boys. P. vii. 211.

To go off, cease, diminish, disappear, be dispelled, intermit, desist from. To draw back, withdraw, retire, stand aside. To contract, shrivel, crack, open, split. జ్వరముతీసినది the fever went down. వెన్నుతీయు to come forth, or be produced (as a sprout,) to bud. కాళ్లు తీయుచున్నవి my legs throb or ache. ఏరు తీసిపోయినది the river has gone down. వెనక తీయు to fail, retire, withdraw, retreat, hesitate, or flinch. నాలుకతీసినది my tongue is dry, I am thirsty. వాని ఒళ్లు మిక్కిలి తీసిపోయినది he is greatly fallen away in flesh. నీళ్లు తీసిపోవు to dry up, sink, diminish, be exhausted. బలమంతా తీసిపోయినది my strength has gone. పాతర తీసియున్నది the granary was opened. తీయక unintermittingly, without intermission. వెనకతీయక without hesitation. తియ్యకుండా unfailingly, uninterruptedly, without intermission. తీయని incessant, unceasing. తీయించు tīyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to remove, get removed. తీసివేయు tīsi-vēyu. v. t. To take away. To dismiss. To sever ఖండించు. తీసివేతకాకితాలు tīsi-vēta-kāki-talu. n. Outside sheets of paper: paper that is taken away. తీసిపోవు tīsi-pōvu. v. n. To diminish. తగ్గు. తీసుక for తీసుకొని bringing. తీసుకరా bring. తీసుకపో take away. తీసికొను or తీసుకొను tīsi-konu. v. a. To take, &c.; to buy; to eat or drink, &c. పనితీసుకొను to exact service. వాడు చాలా దినములనుంచి తీసుకొంటున్నాడు he has been lingering for a long time. దండముతీసుకొనెను he acknowledged or accepted the salutation.

(p. 567) tōyu or త్రోయు tōyu. [Tel.] v. a. To push, thrush, shove, propel. To dismiss, to deduct. కాలముతోస్తున్నారు they pass their time. పడద్రోయు to knock down తోసివేయు to do away with, set aside, dismiss.

(p. 592) digu digu. [Tel.] v. n. To come down from a higher place. To alight, drop, come or go down, descend from; to dismount. To be landed, unladen, or disembarked, as goods. దిగుమతియగు. To fail, break down, sink, fall back, fall in debt or arrears. దిగబడు. To lodge, dwell, halt, ప్రయాణమందు దారిలో విడియు. To distil, or drop down, as any secretion. To settle, as sediment or dregs. To abate, cease, go off, become less, diminish, as fatness. To sink, as ink in paper, or water in earth. To penetrate or go in, as a stab. To come forth, as fruit from the bud, as in మామిడికాయలు దిగుచున్నవి. ఒళ్లు దిగిపోయినది he is reduced by sickness. బుడ్డదిగినమనిషి a man with a rupture. దానికి నీళ్లు దిగవు she cannot swallow. మదముదిగిన యేనగు an elephant not in rut. ఆ పనిలో దిగినాడు he went into that business. (p. 641) nāgavalli nāga-valli. [Skt.] n. The vine that produces the betel leaf or tamala-pāku. నాగవల్లి or more correctly written నాకబలి, i.e., దేవతలకుచేయుపూజ. The finishing ceremony of a marriage (where in a betel leaf is given) which is performed on the fourth day. Betel nut is presented to a parting guest and thus has come to denote taking leave, or dismissal, as well as the opposite sense of admission or installation. నాగవసాని or నాగప్పసాని nāgapa-sāni. n. A married lady who conducts the నాగవల్లి ceremony. నాపసాని (another form of నాగపసాని.) nāpasāni. n. A matron.
