(p. 195) ēkādaśamu ēkā-daṣamu. [Skt.] adj. Eleventh పదునొకండవది. ఏకాదశి ēkā-daṣi. n. The eleventh day of each lunar fortnight: తొలియేకాదశి another name for ఆషాఢశుద్ధయేకాదశి which is an annual fast. వైకుంఠయేకాదశి a fast held about the 20th of December.

(p. 984) miṭṭa miṭṭa. [Tel. from మిడియు.] n. A high or rising ground, a small hill. ఉన్నతభూమి. adj. High, elevated; raised (as ground), jutting out (as teeth.). మిట్టపండ్లు projecting teeth. మిట్టపల్లములు ups and downs, uneven ground. మిట్టమధ్యాహ్నము high noon. మిట్టవరహా a kind of gold pagoda worth four rupees. మిట్టమిర్రు (మిర్రు + మిర్రు.) very high ground, అత్యున్నతభూమి. 'ఏటికాల్వ మిట్ట మిర్రుగాద్రవ్వి.' HD. i. మిట్టు or మిట్టించు miṭṭu. v. n. To fly, ఎగురు. మిట్టాడు miṭṭ-āḍu. (మిట్టి + ఆడు.) v. n. To roam, to walk about. సంచరించు. 'మనుజులుమిట్టాడని యొకఘనగహనము.' P. i. 292, a forest unfrequented by men. మిట్టిపడు miṭṭi-paḍu. v. n. To jump, hop along, bound. ఎగిరిపడు. To be puffed with pride or insolence. మిడిసిపడు. మిట్టిపాటు miṭṭi-pāṭu. n. (p. 1024) meraka meraka. [Tel.] n. Raised ground, a high spot. మిట్ట. ఉన్నతభూమి. ఆ చోటు మెరకగానున్నది it is an elevated spot. మెరకపల్లములు irregularities in the surface, ups and downs. ఆ పడవను ఈడ్చి మెరకను వేసినారు they drew the boat ashore, they hauled up the boat on the beach.

(p. 1238) vratamu vratamu. [Skt.] n. A religious vow, a self imposed task, a religious observance or obligation. ధర్మసాధనోపవాసాది పుణ్యకర్మము. వ్రతము చేయు or వ్రతమును అనుష్ఠించు to observe a vow. ఏకపత్నీవ్రతము conjugal fidelity. శాకవ్రతము abstaining from certain food on special occasions. ఏకాదశీవ్రతము the observance of a religious fast on the eleventh day of either lunar fortnight. వ్రతకల్పము vrata-kalpamu. n. A treatise on vows. మోములు మొదలైన వ్రతములవిధి. వ్రతి or వ్రతస్థుడు vrati. n. One who makes or performs vows, a votary, వ్రతములు ఆచరించువాడు. One who offers a sacrifice, యజ్ఞముచేయువాడు.

(p. 1261) śrāddhamu ṣrāddhamu. [Skt. from శ్రద్ధ.] n. Funeral ceremonies or obsequies, observed at various fixed periods, consisting of offerings with water and fire, to the gods and manes, and gifts and food to the relations present, and assistant Brahmins. పితృకర్మము, పిత్రర్థముగా దేశకాలవిధికృత బ్రాహ్మణ భోజనము. ఏకోద్దిష్ట శ్రాద్ధము a funeral ceremony observed eleven days after a persons's death. నిత్యశ్రాద్ధము daily funeral ceremonies for a year after a person's death. ధర్మశ్రాద్ధము the funeral ceremony observed every new moon. మహాలయశ్రాద్ధము a funeral ceremony in the sixth lunar month. సపిండశ్రాద్ధము or సపిండీకరణము a funeral ceremony in which the balls of rice offered to the deceased individually and collectively, are blended together. తిర్థశ్రాద్ధము a funeral ceremony celebrated in a holy place. నాందీశ్రాద్ధము an offering made to the manes of deceased ancestors on solemn occasions. హిరణ్యశ్రాద్ధము money distributed in charity as an offering to the manes. ఆమశ్రాద్ధము uncooked ingredients distributed as above said. అన్నశ్రాద్ధము cooked food served out to guests as aforesaid. ఘటశ్రాద్ధము obsequies performed to a waterjar, which bears the name of a man's living wife, whom he divorces by breaking the jar. వానికి కొంచెము హిరణ్య శ్రాద్ధముచేస్తేనే గాని ఆ పని అనుకూలపడేటట్టు ఉండలేదు unless you grease his palm, I think that business will not be settled in our favour. శ్రాద్ధదేవుడు ṣrāddha-dēvuḍu. n. Yama, the god of death. యముడు.

(p. 1269) saṃ or సమ్ sam. [Skt.] prefix. When used with Skt. nouns and adjectives, it means beautiful, చక్కని. Much, very, మిక్కిలి. Places before verbs, it means Well, చక్కగా. See. సంక్షోభము, సంక్షోభించు, సంఘటిల్లు, సంచరించు, సంచలించు, సంతుష్టి, సందర్శించు, సంపూర్ణము, సంపూర్తి, సంప్రాప్తి, సంప్రీతి, సంయుక్తము, సంయుతము, సంయోగము, సంరక్షించు, సంస్తుతి, &c. It also means With, together with. సమంచితము worshipped, revered, పూజ్యమైన. సమధికము exceeding, abundant, plentiful, ఎక్కువైన, మిక్కుటమైన, మిక్కిలి అధికమైన. సమన్వితము joined, united, combined, కూడుకొన్న. సంయుక్తమైన. సమర్పించు to give to the great, to offer presents to superiors. పూజ్యులకు ఇచ్చు. సమర్పితము offered, presented, given to superiors, పూజ్యులకు ఇవ్వబడ్డ. సమర్పణ giving to superiors, a thing presented to the great, an offering, పూజ్యులకు ఇయ్యడము పూజ్యులకు ఇచ్చిన వస్తువు. సమవధానంబుతో attentively, జాగ్రతతో. సమాకర్షి far spreading, as scent. సమాకీర్ణము dishevelled, shed, scattered, sprinkled, intersprersed, చల్లబడ్డ, వెదచల్లబడ్డ. సమాగతము that which is come right, చక్కగావచ్చిన; got, obtained, పొందిన. సమాగమము union, junction; a coming, arrival. coming together, meeting, assembling. చేరడము, కూడడము. కలియడము. రావడము. సమాదరము respect, esteem, honour, సన్మానము, మర్యాద. సమాదృతము respected, esteemed, సన్మానించబడ్డ. గొప్పచేయబడ్డ. సమాశ్లిష్టము embraced, కౌగిలించుకొన్న. సమాశ్వాసము consolation, condolence, soothing, comforting, సాంత్వనము, ఓదార్చడము. సమిద్ధము shinning, glowing, blazing, ప్రకాశమానమైన. (p. 1281) sambandhamu sam-bandhamu. [Skt.] n. Connection, relation, relationship, relevancy, affinity. సంపర్కము, చుట్టరికము, చేరిక, కూడిక, పొందిక. నీ సంబంధమే నాకు కారాదు I cannot endure having anything to do with you. సంబంధి sam-bandhi. n. One who is connected by marriage. ఇచ్చిపుచ్చుకొన్నవాడు, సంబంధము చేసినవాడు, చుట్టము. ఆయన మా సంబంధి he is my kinsman. ఆమె మా సంబంధురాలు she is a connection of ours. సంబంధించు sam-bandhintsu. v. n. To be related to or connected with, to have to do with. చేరు, సంబంధము కలిగియుండు.

(p. 1327) sārthakamu or సార్థకత s-ārthakamu. [Skt.] n. Utility, profit, good, benefit, fruit, use, efficacy. ఫలము, ప్రయోజనము. సార్థకము adj. Having a meaning, a significant, to the purpose, well adapted, suitable as an epithet, name or title. Effectual, profitable, useful. అర్థయుక్తమైన, సప్రయోజనమైన, సఫలమైన, అన్వర్థమైన. సార్థకనామము a significant name, a name having its peculiar meaning, as చతుష్పాత్తు a quadruped. సార్థకములేని s-ārthakamu-lēni. adj. Irrelevant, fruitless, ineffective. నిష్ప్రయోజనమైన.

(p. 1383) hari hari. [Skt.] adj. Green, yellow, bay, tawny. పచ్చని, బంగారు వర్ణముగల. n. A name given to Vishnu, Indra and Yama, విష్ణువు, ఇంద్రుడు, యముడు. A horse, గుర్రము. A lion, సింహము. An epithet of Indra. ఇంద్రుడు. హర్యక్షము hary-ak-shamu. n. (Lit: yellow-eyed) A lion. సింహము. హర్యక్షుడు hary-akshuḍu. n. An epithet of Kubera.
