(p. 41) atuku atuku. [Tel.] n. Junction, union patch. ౛తపరిచినది. అతుకులబ్రతుకు living in another man's house. అతుకు v. n. To join. To agree with, to be fit. అంటుకొను అతుకు లేక అతికించు, v. t. To solder, cement, join, unite to. అంటించు, చేర్చు, జరపరచు. అతుకుబడి fixing; posting; the engagement to cultivate taken from the ryot at the commencement of the Revenue year; leasing. అతుకుబడిచేయు to rent out. అతుకుబాటు giving or letting out on rent.

(p. 207) oḍambaḍika or ఒడబడిక oḍam-baḍika. [Tel.] n. An agreement, engagement, compact, treaty, covenant, consent, assent సమ్మతి; నిబంధన పత్రిక; సమ్మతించి వ్రాసి యిచ్చిన వ్రాత. ఒడంబడు oḍam-baḍu. v. t. To agree, engage, consent. To comply with, to concede సమ్మతించు. ఒడంబరుచు oḍam-baruṭsu. v. t. To persuade, convince. ఒడచాటు Same as ఒడంబడిక.

(p. 332) kaulu or కవులు kaulu. [H.] n. A writing of assurance, agreement or engagement granted to the cultivator of the soil. A safe guard or warrant to pass (as granted to an enemy.)

(p. 520) tāmbūlamu tāmbūlamu. [Skt.] n. The betel-leaf and areca nut formed into a parcel, ready for use. వక్కాకు. This is also a phrase for a douceur. తాంబూలము పుచ్చుకొను to take betel (which is generally offered ceremoniously to a stranger as a mark of respect.) To take an oath: (because such a ceremony is gone through when an oath or solemn engagement is taken.) The tambulamu likewise is given as the final or termination of every meal, every transaction and every religious rite. Thus తాంబూలమిచ్చు and తాంబూలముపుచ్చుకొను is to ratify most solemnly, as a betrothal; to swear an oath. తాంబూలవల్లి or తాంబూలి the betel vine.

(p. 654) nimitamu nimitamu. [Skt.] n. An engagement, settling. నియమనము, ఏర్పాటు. నిమితకాడు nimita-kāḍu. n. One who is engaged to carry a burden or load, బరువుమోసే పనివాడు.

(p. 655) niyamamu niyamamu. [Skt.] n. A principle, rule, precept. An engagement. 'The restriction of a rule to particular cases.' (Colebr.) That which is invariable. Any religious observance. Certainty. The inevitable result of an act. Taking pains నిశ్చయబుద్ధి, ప్రతిజ్ఞ, ఏర్పాటు, కట్టు. నియమముగా fixedly, statedly. నియమించు niyaminṭsu. v. a. To appoint, direct, order, ఆజ్ఞాపించు. నియమించుకొను niya-minṭsu-konu. v. a. To agree on, contract for, engage for, determine, decree, undertake, నియమితము niyamitamu. adj. Commanded, ordered, నియమింపబడిన. నియామకము niyāmakamu. n. Certainity, an arrangement. నియామకుడు niyāma-kuḍu. n. A director, a pilot or steers-man. నియమించేవాడు.

(p. 828) pratijña prati-gnya. [Skt.] n. An agreement, engagement, undertaking, asseveration, solemn avowal, determination, resolution, vow. శపథము. Assent, అంగీకారము. ప్రతిజ్ఞాతము prati-gnyātamu. adj. Acknowledged, admitted. అంగీకరింపబడ్డది.

(p. 922) bhāṣa bhāsha. [Skt.] n. A language, speech, dialect. A word, phrase, expression. మాట. A solemn undertaking, vow, engagement: what one gives his word for, an oath, ప్రతిజ్ఞ, ప్రమాణము. దేశభాష the vernacular of a country. భాషణము bhāshanamu. v. n. Speaking, speech. మాటాడుట. భాషాంతరము bhāsh-āntaramu. n. Another language: a translation. భాషాగ్రంథము bhāshā-granthamu. n. A poem in a modern or vernacular language, not in Sanskrit. భాషామంత్రము bhāshāmantramu. n. A spell or charm, written in any vernacular language, not in Sanskrit. భాషించు bhāshinṭsu. v. n. To speak, use language, converse, talk, సూటటాడు. భాషితము bhāshitamu. n. Speech, language. మాట. adj. Spoken, మాటాడిన. భాష్యము bhāshyamu. n. A commentary, a paraphrase or exposition either of scripture or a work on science, సూత్రవ్యాఖ్యానగ్రంథము. భాష్యకారులు or భాష్యకార్లు bhāshya-kārulu. n. A commentator or expounder of technical texts; commonly appliéd as an epithet to two authors names పతంజలి. and ఎంబెరుమానారు. This last is one of the chief legislators of the Vaishnavite Brahmins. His disciples subsequently separated into the two Sects called Tengala and Vedagala. భాష్యకార్లు is also vulgarly used for బాసికములు fillets worn at weddings.

(p. 1233) vyavastha vyavastha. [Skt.] n. A decree, a statute, rule, law. A written extract from a code of law, a written legal opinion. An engagement, agreement, contract. శాస్త్రనిరూపితనియమము, విధి, నియమము, కోర్టు పండితుడు వ్రాసియిచ్చే విధానపత్రిక, ఒడంబడిక. వానికి ఒక వ్యవస్థలేదు he goes by no rule. వ్యవస్థలేని illegal, unlawful, నియమములేని. వ్యవస్థితము vyavasthitamu. adj. Arranged, fixed, settled, decreed, నియమింపబడిన.

(p. 1270) saṅkētamu sankētamu. [Skt.] n. An appointment, agreement, compact, engagement, ఏర్పాటు, ఒడబాటు, నిష్కర్ష, నిర్ణయము. A provision, a matter or point previously arranged. A sign or signal, a token or intimation, generally without words; a nod, wink, beck, indicative gesture, గురుతు, సంజ్ఞ. A name, పేరు. A place of assignation, a rendezvous, ముందుగా మాట్లాడి నిష్కర్షచేసికొన్న స్థలము. A. v. 135. 'సంకేతంబులనుండక.' Swa. iii. 45. adj. Appointed, fixed, ordained, stipulated, contracted for, agreed upon. నిర్ణీతమైన, నిష్కర్షచేయబడిన, ఏర్పరచుకోబడిన. సంకేతనామము a technical name, a name agreed upon but different from the real name. సంకేతపదము a technica l word, a technicality. సంకేతస్థలము or సంకేతస్థానము a place of rendezvous, a place of assignation. నిర్ణయించుకొన్న చోటు. సంకేతించు sankētinṭsu. v. a. To appoint, assign, fix, contract for, agree upon, నిష్కర్షచేయు, నిర్ణయించు, ఏర్పాటుచేయు. To give a name to, పేరుపెట్టు. 'వెరవకసంకేతించిన తెరగున నయ్యెడకునరుగుదెంచు.' M. IV. ii. 282. సంకేతితము sankētitamu. adj. Appointed, fixed, ordained, stipulated, contracted for, agreed upon, నిష్కర్షచేయబడిన, నిర్ణయించబడిన, ఏర్పరుచుకొన బడిన.

(p. 1300) samayamu samayamu. [Skt.] n. An opportunity, occasion. An age, period. Time, season, juncture, crisis, కాలము, ఉచితకాలము. Leisure, తీరుబాటు. An oath, imprecation. ప్రతిజ్ఞ, శపథము. An established moral or ceremonial custom, ఆచారము. A settled conclusion, a demonstration, a decision. A contract, engagement, covenant. A sign, సంకేతము. A school of philosophy, దర్శనము, మతము. A doctrine, సిద్ధాంతము, శివసమయము the Saivite sect. విష్ణుసమయము the Vaishnavite sect. సమయము చూస్తూ ఉన్నాడు he is looking for an opportunity. సమయములో సహాయము చేసినాడు he helped me in time of need. సమయపుసందుకట్టు a time of difficulty. సమయములో చెయ్యివిడుచు to forsake a man in the time of need. సమయమైనప్పుడు when an opportunity arises.నేను లేని సమయమునందు when I was absent. నాలుగు గంటలసమయమందు when it was about four o' clock. సమయముకొద్దీ మనిషి a time server, a fickle man. సమయస్ఫూర్తి a quick memory or understanding. సమయస్ఫూర్తిగలవాడు a quick-witted man. సమయమైన or సమయమగు samayam-aina. adj. Opportune, seasonable. యుక్తమైన. 'సమయంబగువేళ.' H. ii. 53. సమయపడు samaya-paḍu. v. n. To attempt, యత్నించు. To watch for an opportunity. To become opportune. To resolve on secrecy, సంకేతితమగు. 'సమయపడి వనవాసంబు చేయవచ్చితిమి.' భార. అర. సమయోచితము samay-ōchitamu. adj. Seasonable, suitable to the occasion, appropriate, కాలోచితమైన. సమయోచితమైన మాట a word in season, an appropriate word.
