(p. 18) akasmāttugā akasmāttu-gā. [Skt.] adv. By chance, suddenly, unexpectedly. హటాత్తుగా, without a why or wherefore.

(p. 40) atithi atithi. [Skt. a=not, and tiḍhi -- day; hence lit. one who comes unexpectedly;] n. A guest, a stranger. పరగృహగతుడు. అతిథిదర్మము title to hospitality. అతిథిపూజ or అతిథిసత్కారము welcoming a guest, showing respect to a guest by ministering to his wants. అతిథిసేవ attention paid to a guest, hospitality.

(p. 43) adaru or అదురు adaru. [Tel.] v. n. To tremble, shake, quake, shiver. To dread. కంపించు, భయపడు, భూమి అదురుచున్నది the earth trembles. దాన్ని చూడగానే వాని గుండెలు అదిరినవి his heart quivered to see this. కుడి కన్ను అదురుచున్నది my right eye tingles. వాడు వట-టి అదురుగుండె he is a coward. అడరు or అడురు n. Concussion, shaking, tremour, trembling, fear, కంపనము, చలనము, కొట్టుకొనడము, భయము. భూమి అదురు a tremour or convulsion of the earth. వానికి తండ్రి వద్ద కొంచెము అదురు ఉండవలెను he ought to fear his father. అదరుగడ or అదురుగడ adarugaḍa. [Tel.] n. Daunting, fright. బెదురు. అదరిపడు or అదిరిపడు adari-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To caper about, to curvet. ఉలికిపడు. to be arrogant. అదరిపాటు n. Pride. అదరిపాటున. adv. Suddenly, unexpectedly. ఏమరిపాటున, 'అదరిపాటున వారాళియుదుటు చూచి.' N. i. 126.

(p. 43) adāṭugā or అదాటున adāṭu-gā. [Tel.] adv. Suddenly, unexpectedly. అకస్మాత్తుగా.

(p. 44) addira or అదిర addira. [Tel. అది+ర] Interj. What a wonder! Wonderful! అద్దిరపాటున addirapāṭuna. adv. Suddenly, unexpectedly. అదాటున. 'అనితలపోయువాని పొలుపద్దిరపాటున జూచి విస్మయంబనుపమలీల దొట్టిన.' S. iii. 543. అద్దిరయ్య interj. Bravo! excellent! శాబాసు. 'చెప్పక చెప్పెడు నద్దిరయ్యమా కెరుగదరం బెమీమహిమ.' Swa. i. 35.

(p. 74) amāntamu amāntamu. [H.] adv. Unexpectedly, all at once. Totally, wholly. లటుక్కున, యావత్తున్ను. ఆ రాళ్లను అమాంతముగా ఎత్తినాడు he raised the rocks bodily. అమాంతగాడు [H.] n. An interloper, నడికొల్లగాడు also, a petty dealer. చిల్లరబేరగాడు. అమాంతవర్తకము. Interloping. tricks in trade. అమాంతవర్తకుడు. An interloper in trade. నడికొల్లగాడైన వర్తకుడు.

(p. 87) alabhyamu a-labhyamu. [Skt. from లభించు] adj. Unobtained; unobtainable; unattainable. Unexpected, casual. పొందబడని, అకస్మికమైన. అలభ్యయోగము unexpected good fortune. ఇది అలభ్యయోగముగా ప్రాప్తమాయెను this happened unexpectedly.

(p. 92) ava cāṭamugā ava-ṭsāṭamugā. [Tel.] adv. Unexpectedly, unawares, అకస్మికముగా, హటాత్తుగా. 'ఖలుడగుకంసుని పంపున నరిగి తృణావర్తుడవనికవచాటముగా సురకరువలియైబిసబిస నరుదరుదనముసరివిసరిహరిగొనిపోయెన్.' B. X. § 7.

(p. 96) avāntaramu avāntaramu. [Skt.] adj. Included, subordinate. అంతర్భూతమైన, లోని, కింది. అవాంతరదశ a minor distinction: a species, a subdivision of a general term. అవాంతరశ్లోకము a spurious verse: an interpolation. అవాంతరకథ an episode. అవాంతరముగా unexpectedly.

(p. 109) āgantukamu āgantukamu. [Skt.] adj. Unexpected (as a guest dropping in.) ఆగంతుకుడు or ఆగంతువు āgantukuḍu. n. A guest, a stranger, one who drops in. పరదేశి, అతిథి.

To cause to desire, to allure, tempt, incite, encourage, to hold out prospects. ఆశపడు āṣa-paḍu. To desire, covet, long for. ఆశాపాతకుడు āṣā-pātakuḍu. n. A covetous man. ఆసపెట్టు āṣa-peṭṭu. To raise hopes or expectations, give hopes, tantalize. ఆశాబంధము āṣā-bandhamu. n. The bond of love or desire.

(p. 167) umēḍu or ఉమేజు umēdu. [H.] n. Hope. ఆశ, కోరిక. ఉమేదు చేయు to live in hope, to be a hanger on, as an expectant. ఉమేదువారి umēdu-vāri. n. Expectancy, waiting for an employment. (p. 188) eduru eduru. [Tel.] n. The front. An opponent ప్రతివిరోధి. adj. ఎదురు opposite, other. అన్యమైన. ఎదురాడు edur-āḍu. (ఎదురు+ఆడు) v. i. To speak against, to oppose. మారాడు. ఎదురీదు to swim against, to resist. ఎదురుకట్టుల or ఎదురుకట్ల eduru-kaṭṭula. adv. In front ఎదుట. ఎదురుకుత్తుక eduru-kuttuka. n.
