(p. 25) agu agu. [Tel.] (commongly written అవు), v. To be, to become, to prove to be. The present p|| is అగుచు, or అవుచు as అగుచున్నాడు or అవుచున్నాడు he is becoming. మిక్కిలి సిరి అగును much fortune will result. The past p|| is అయి as దొంగ అయి turned a rogue, become a thief. The root in A of అగు is కా as అట్లా కారాదు it cannot happen so. Aorist p|| అగు, అగునట్టి, అయ్యే, అయ్యెడి as క్రూరుడగు cruel. శాలివాహనశక వర్షంబులు 1466 అగునట్టి క్రోధి సంవత్సర కార్తీకశుద్ధ 5 శనివారము Saturday the 5th of the bright fortnight of the month Kārtika in the year Krodhi 'which is' the year 1466 (of the Salivahana æra.) ఇది దొంగతనము అయ్యేపనిగనుక as this is a matter in which a man might prove a rogue. To be, to become, as కాకి కోకిలయగునె can a crow become a cuckoo? వాడు ఏమయినాడు what has become of him? దొంగ అయినాడు he proved to be a thief. వాడు నేరస్థుడైనాడు he was found guilty. ఆ పని అవును కాకపోవును that undertaking may or may not be accomplished. వానికి ఆకలి అవుతున్నది he is hungry. ఇట్లు రాత్రియగుట as it was now night. బాలుడగుట as he is but a child. 2. To be made, to be finished, to be spent or expended, to elapse, as పని శీఘ్రముగా కావలెను the work must be done soon. వివాహమగుము marry her. ఆ పెండ్లి అయినది the marriage took place. భోజనమయినది dinner is over. రాజదర్పనమయినది I got a sight of the king. అయినదాన్ని చూపు shew what has been done. ఆ పని అయినది the work is over, it is done. కావచ్చినది it is nearly done. రూకలు అయిపోయినది the money is expended. సంవత్సరము అయినది a year has passed. నెల అవుతున్నది it is about a month since. అర్థమయినదా do you understand it? సాకు భావముకాతేదు I do not understand it. భావముయనది I understand it. స్నానము కావించు to bathe, or to cause to bathe. తీర్పుకాలేదు no decision has been given. మ్రుచ్చిలితెచ్చుట మగతనం బగునె is it a manly thing to steal? 3. To be proper or fit, to be agreeable, as ఇచ్చట నుండనగునే మనకు is it fit for us to remain here? కాని పని an improper or unbecoming act. అట్లా చేయనవునా is it right to do so? పగలు కాచినపాలు ఆ రాత్రికి అవును milk boiled the same day is fit for use that night. అతనికీ నాకు కానందున as we are not on good terms. అయినవాండ్లున్ను కానివాండ్లున్ను friends and enemies. 4. To grow, as ఈ తోటలో ఏమి అవుతవి what is grown in this garden? ఇక్కడ వరి కఅదు rice does not grow here. 5. (Governing a dative) To stand in relation, as వాడు నీకేమవుతాడు how is he related to you? నాకు కావలసినవారు my relations. వానికి మేము ఏమీకాము we are in no way related to him. 6. Added to some nouns it gives them a verbal significance, as వారు ఎప్పుడు ప్రయాణమవుతారు when will they start or set out? విభాగాలు అయి వేరింటి కాపురము చేస్తున్నారు they seperated and live apart.

(p. 108) ākharu ākharu. [H.] adj. Last, final. n. End, termination. తుద, అంతము. ఆఖరున, ఆఖరుకు adv. Finally, lastly. నెల ఆఖరుకు at the end of the month. ఆఖరయినది it is finished or expended.

(p. 208) oḍiyu oḍiyu. [Tel.] v. n. To run. To drip, drop, trickle. రూకలు ఒడిసిపోయినవి the money is all run out or expended. ఒడియు oḍiyu. v. a. To snatch, seize or catch. కొంచెము పైకెగిరిపట్టుకొను. To take. To pull లాగు. ఒడిసిచేపట్టుకొనిరాధనూరడించి he caught Rādha by the hand and pacified her. చెవి ఒడియు to pull one's ears.

The ebb of the tide. సముద్రపునీరు పొంగి తగ్గుట. రెప్పపాటు (lit: eye-lid-fall.) a wink or blink. బల్లిపాటు the fall of a lizard. చెవిటివాడు పెదవిపారు గ్రహించును a deaf man understands the motions of the lips. వారు పడే పాట్లు చెప్పనలవికాదు the hardships they suffer are indescribable. కుక్కపడేపాట్లు పడుచున్నాడు he leads the life of a dog. ఎన్నిపాట్లు పడినను వాడు చిక్కలేదు though we did all we could we did not find him. వాడు పడ్డపాట్లు వృధాగాపోవునా will all his trouble be in vain. వచ్చినపాటుననే as soon as he comes. అది ఆపాటుననే ఉన్నది it remains as it was, it remains unaltered. అది యేపాటుననున్నదో ఆపాటుననే ఉండనిమ్ము leave it as it is . అదోకపాటుగానుండేనేల a declivity, slope or descent. పోటుపాటు the ebb and flow of a river or sea, బోర్లపాటులు vile pranks. పొరపాటు an error. Added to some verbs it serves as an affix like-tion, -ness or -ment and forms a noun, as నగుబాటు laughter. తగులుబాటు cost, expenditure. దిద్దుబాటు a correction. కుదురుబాటు settlement. ఒంటరిపాటు loneliness. ఒంటరిపాటున alone, unaccompanied. ఆపాటున where-upon, thereupon, on that occasion. పనిపాటులు jobs. పాట్లమారి a drudge, మిక్కిలి శ్రమపడు స్వభావముగలవాడు. పాటుపడు pāṭu-paḍu. To toil, to labour. శ్రమపడు. పాటుసాగించు pāṭu-sāginṭsu. v. n. To cultivate, to begin cultivation operations. పాటునబడు pāṭuva-baḍu. v. n. To come back to the original position. యథాస్థితికివచ్చు.

The total, whole; a flock, multitude, heap, or collection. సమూహము, గుంపు. శూరులమొత్తము a multitude of heroes. కోతిమొత్తము a herd of monkeys. వింటిమొత్తము a heap of bows. మంటమొత్తము a mass of flames. Zacca. iv. 26. మొత్తముగా చెప్పినాడు he spoke in general. మొత్తపు వ్యయము the total expenditure. మొత్తపుమాట a generic word. మొత్తముచేయు to make a total. మొత్తములై in mobs. 'పులులు మొత్తంబులై పొదరిండ్లలో దూరు.' B. VIII. adj. Thick, తరుచైన. మొత్తపుదీప్తులు big lights.

(p. 1232) vyayamu vyayamu. [Skt.] n. Spending, expense, expenditure. Ruin, waste, పాడు కావడము, నశించచుట. నాశము, అర్థాదిక్షయము, కర్చుకావడము, వెచ్చము, క్షయము.' చనుబొంకగబ్రాణవ్యయమున, సర్వధనాపహరణమున.' M. I. iii. 246. వ్యయముచేయు or వ్యయించు vyayamu-chēyu. v. a. To spend, expend, వెచ్చించు.

Vema 1094. ఆయువ్రయము lapse of years. ఎందుకు వాగ్వ్రయము చేస్తున్నావు why do you waste your breath? నామీద నిండా వాగ్వ్రయము చేసినాడు he has given his tongue great liberty about me. వ్రయమైపోవు vryam-ai-pōvu. v. n. See also సరియ. ఆ వంశము ఇతనతో సరి that family terminates with him. సరిలేని మాణిక్యము a matchless gem. పెలసరికి at the end of the month. నెలసరికి up to that day. నీకు నాకు సరి there is an end of everything between us. సరికాని వారు those who are not equals. 'సరికాని వారితో సరసమాడెడువాని.' (Kālahas. §. 66.) he who takes liberties with such as are not his equals. సరికానిపని improper behaviour or conduct. సరికిసరి tit for tat. గోధుములు బియ్యానికి గోధుములు బియ్యానికి సరికిసరి ఇస్తారు they barter wheat for an equal quantity of rice.సరికిసరి చేసినాడు he repaid them according to what they had done. సరి. adj. Equal, like. సమము, ఈడైన. Just, right, proper, fit, correct, suitable, యుక్తమైన, తగిన, Corresponding to. Even, level, not odd, మిట్టపల్లములులేని. Ended, finished, సమాప్తము. అతనికి సరిలేడు he has no equal. రాత్రి అయినా సరే పగలు అయినా సరే be it day or be it night. ఇది సరికాదు this is not right. ఈ ఉత్సవము నేటితో సరి this feast is finished with this day. adv. Equally. సమానముగా, సరిగా. Fully, పూర్ణముగా. 'జలధి తోజలధియు సరిబోరుకరణి.' DRY. 2224. 'సరిబల్కుమని యదల్చు.' T. iii. 143. సరి (interj.) Well! Yes! very well! very good! Aha! Aha! Oh! బాగాయె; అంగీకారార్థము. సరికట్టు sari-kaṭṭu. v. n. To be equal or similar. దృష్టాంమగు. v. a. To attempt, యత్నించు. See సరిపడు below. సరికడచు sari-kaḍaṭsu. v. n. To exceed, excel. ముందుమించు, మీరు, అతిక్రమించు. సరిగా sari-gā. adv. Equally, abreast, properly, rightly, correctly, in good order, completely, fully. సమముగా, ౛తగా, ౛ోడుగా, యుక్తముగా, న్యాయముగా, క్రమముగా, సంపూర్ణముగా, ఆ రెండు పల్లకీలు సరిగా వచ్చుచుండెను the two palanquins were coming on abreast. సరిగెఅల్పులు sari-gelpulu. n. T. iv. 62. సరిచేయు ari-chēyu. v. a. To arrange or put in order, to put straight, to level or make even. To complete, end or finish. To equalize, క్రమపరచు, వంకర లేకుండా చేయు, మిట్టపల్లములు లేకుండా చేయు, ముగించు, సమానము చేయు. To ruin, నాశముచేయు, సరిచూచు sari-ṭsūṭsu. v. a. To compare, review, collate. సంప్రతించు, సరిగానుండజూచు. సరితూగు sari-tūgu. v. a. To counterbalance, to be equal in weight, to be equal. సమానమగు. సరిపడు, సరితాకు or సరికట్టు sari-paḍu. v. n. A. vi. 90. నోటికి సరిపోయినట్టు మాట్లాడినాడు he said everything that came to his tongue. అవి నీకు సరిపోతవవి these will suit you. నీవు తిట్టినదానికిని నేను కొట్టినదానికని సరిపోయినవి the blows I have given are a fair payment for your abuse. ఆ బియ్యము ఆ తపేలాకు సరిపోయినవి the rice was just enough to fill the vessel. సరిపొద్దు or సరిప్రొద్దు sari-poddu. n. Midnight, అర్థరాత్రి. P. iii. 45. సరిబిత్తరము sari-bittaramu. n. A kind of wrestling. మల్ల బంధవిశేషము. సరిబేసులు sari-bēsulu. n. A kind of game played by boys, పిల్లకాయలు ఆడే ఒక ఆట. 'గుళ్లుదాగుడుముచ్చిళ్లు గోలిపెట్టెలేలపాటలు, సరిబేసు లీలకూతలాదిగాశైశవక్రీడలాడి.' Vish. vii. 212. సరియగు sari-y-agu. v. n. To become equal, సమానమగు, to be destroyed, నశించు. సరియైన sari-y-aina. adj. Equal, like; just, right, proper, fit. Corresponding to. Level, straight; even, not odd. సమమైన, యుక్తమైన, తగిన, నూటియైన, ఈడైన, అవిషయమైన, మిట్టపల్లములు లేని. సరిలేని sari-lēni. adj. Matchless, unequalled. అసమానమైన. సరివచ్చు sari-vatstsu. v. n. To match, be alike, సమానమగు. సరిసమానము sari-samānamu. (a pleonasm.) n. Equality. సమము, తనకు సరిసమానము ఎవరులేరనుకొనుచున్నాడు he imagines that he has no equal. సరేగదా sarē-gadā. interj. Very well!
