A want, deficiency, defect; inferiority, baseness. లోతక్కువ the balance or remaining sums of money ఎక్కువతక్కువలు or హెచ్చుతక్కువలు difference, irregularity, improper words. adj. Deficient, defective, inferior, mean, contempitible, base, low. With a dative it means less: as కోసుకు తక్కువ less than two miles. ఇది ఒకటే తక్కువ this alone was wanting. అది యేమితక్కువ what harm? what matter? తక్కువమాటలు low expressions, improper language. ఎక్కువతక్కువగా adv. More or less. తక్కువపడు takkuva-paḍu. v. n. To be wanting, to be deficient, to be insufficient. కొరతపడు. తక్కువపాటు takkuva-pāṭu. n. Want, deficiency.

(p. 510) taraṅgamu tarangamu. [Skt.] n. A wave, a surge, an undulating swell or surface like waves. అల. తరంగిణి tarangiṇi. n. A river. This and other expressions for river, sea, stream, are used in the titles of some books, as విద్యాతరంగిణి the Circle of the Sciences.

(p. 726) paluca paluṭsa. [Tel.] adj. Thin. సన్నని. Light, తేలికయైన, చులకని. పలుచన, పలుచదనము or పల్చదనము paluṭsana. n. Thinness, leanness. Slight contempt. అడవి పలుచన thinness of the forest. ఇట్లు చేస్తే పదుగురిలో పలుచధనకాదా if you behave so you will be mean in men's eyes. పలుచని paluṭsani. adj. Thin, spare, lean, paltry. Not thickset. Disreputable, contemptible. పలుచనిపలుకులు or పలుచనిమాటలు contemptuous words or slighting expressions. మజ్జిగ నిండా పలుచగా నున్నది the buttermilk is very thin. పలుచనిబట్ట a thin cloth. పలుచపడు paluṭsa-paḍu. v. n. To become thin, to melt as butter. పలుచనగు.

(p. 1194) viṣamu vishamu. [Skt.] n. Poison, venom: anything hurtful or destructive. గరళము, చెరుపైనది. నాశనకరమైనది. In poetry it sometimes means water, జలము. అది దీనికి విషము that is poison to this. వాని నిలువెల్లా విషము he is a rogue from head to foot. విషముఎక్కినది the poison took effect. విషముదిగినది the effect of the poison went off. నేనంటే వానికి విషముగానున్నది he hates me like poison. దీన్ని నోట్లో వేసుకొంటే విషముగానున్నది it is as bitter as gall. విషజ్వరము a malignant fever, typhoid fever, విషభేది virulent diarrhœa, విషపాండువు acute dropsy. విషవునీరు the pus or matter in a boil విషవాక్కులు fatal expressions, క్రూరవచనములు. విషధరము visha-dharamu. n. A snake or serpent. సర్పము. A cloud, మేఘము. విషధరుడు visha-dharuḍu. n. One who carries poison, an epithet of Siva. శివుడు విషపుచ్ఛము visha-puchchamu. n. A scorpion. తేలు. A rogue, తులువ. విషముష్టి or విషవృక్షము visha-mushṭi. n. A poisonous tree, the nux vomica tree. ముష్టిచెట్టు. విషరుహము visha-ruhamu. n. A lotus, కమలము. 'విషమగుణంబేలపోవు విషరుహనయనా.' Ila. iv. 9. విషవైద్యుడు visha-vaidyuḍu. n. A snake-catcher. అహితుండికుడు. A magician, గారడీలు. విషోల్బణుడు vish-ōlbaṇuḍu. n. One who has an excess of venom. అధికవిషము కలవాడు. 'బహువదనులునురుదీర్ఘ శరీరులును విషోల్బణులును.' విషాహి vish-āhi. n. A venomous serpent. విషముగలసర్పము.
