(p. 51) anāvṛṣṭi anā-vrishṭi. [Skt.] n. Drought, a failure of rain. వానలేమి, వరపు.

(p. 54) anukūlamu anu-kūlamu. [Skt.] adj. Favourable, friendly, assisting, salubrious. హీతమైన, సహాయమైన, ఆరోగ్యమైన, శ్రేయస్కరమైన. అనుకూలమైన గాలి a favourable wind. వాని శరీరమునకు అనుకూలమైన స్థలము the place which agrees with him. అనుకూలమైనమాట a friendly word. అనుకూలశత్రువు a friendly enemy అనుకూల కాలము a suitable time. అనుకూలము or అనుకూలత n. Favour, goodness, kindness, aid. సహాయము, మేలు, దయ. దయ ద్రవ్యానుకూలము means, resource. దైవానుకూలము వల్ల by the grace of God. అనుకూలించు, అనుకూలపడు or అనుకూలమగు anukūlinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To be of use ఒదవు. To have effect, to have a good result. సఫలమగు, ఒనగూడు. అనుకూలము కాలేదు it failed, it had not the desired effect. నాకు ఇంకా రూకలు అనుకూల పడలేదు I have not yet obtained the money ఈ పని నీకు అనుకూలమగును you will succeed in this business. అనుకూలము చేయు or అనుకూలవరచు anukūlamuchēyu. v. a. To shew favour, to bring a thing about, to countenance. సహాయము చేయు, నెరవేర్చు. కార్యమును అనుకూలము చేసికొన్నారు they brought it about, brought it to a conclusion. అనుకూలుడు anukūluḍu. n. A friend, ally, patron. హితుడు, సహాయుడు, ఉపకారి. వాడు నాకు అనుకూలుడు he is well disposed towards me.

(p. 142) ī ī. [Tel. from ఇచ్చు to give.] ఇయ్యచాలను, or ఈజాలను I cannot give. Also the imperative of the same verb. ఈ or ఇమ్ము Give (thou.) ఈక without giving ఇవ్వక. ఈకుంటినేని if I fail to give it. ఈకు (for ఇవ్వకుము from ఇచ్చు.) do not give. ఈడు īḍu. [Tel. from ఇచ్చు] v. He will not give.

(p. 143) īgu īgu. [Tel. another form of నీగు] v. a. To enter, penetrate. 'నాభిసొరంగమీగి' Vasu ii. 91. To give, bestow. సీ 'పానీయముననర్ఘ్యపాద్యమీగి' Naish iv. 11. To get rid of. To do away with. పోగొట్టు, తొలగించు, నివర్తించు. 'ఋణత్రయంబునీగి.' A. iv. 341. ఈగు v. n. To fail, lose: submit, (compare. వీగు.) To perish. ఓడు, డస్సిపోవు, చచ్చు. To be crushed. ఒత్తుడుపడిపోవు. 'ఈగెదరాకటిచే.' Hari Vams. i. 23. They perish with hunger.

(p. 144) īti īti. [Skt.] n. Plague, post, nuisance, evil. ఈతిభాధలు the (six) plagues, viz., excessive rain అతివ్పష్టి, drought or failure of rains అనావృష్టి, rats ఎలుకలు, parrots చిలుకలు, locusts మిడతలు, neighbouring kings చేరువరాజులు.

(p. 172) usuru usuru [Tel.] n. Breath, life; strength, vigour, grief; a sigh, affliction, plague, hardship, evil result; retribution or result. వాని ఉసురు నీకు తగులును his trouble will come upon you. ఆడదాని ఉసురు తగలకపోదు the sigh of a woman will not fail to bring trouble (to him who caused her grief). వారి ఉసురు తాకి వాడు చెడిపోవును their sorrows shall be visited on his head. ఉసురుపోసికొను or ఉసురుపుచ్చుకొను usuru-pōsi-konu. v. a. To cause sighs. To afflict. నా ఉసురు ఏల పోసుకొంటావు why do you torment me thus? ఇది చేసినందు ప్రజల యొక్క ఉసురు పోసుకొనెను this called down the curses of the people. ఉసురుతో కూడా alive.

(p. 174) ūḍu ūḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To part, drop out, slip out, జారు, రాలు. To give way, fail: to be unfastened, loosened, separated. వదులగు. To flee, run away. పారిపోవు. తండ్రి నోట్లో ఊడిపడ్డాడు he is the very image of his father. ఊడగొట్టు to take out, root up. remove. ఊడదీయు to pull out, to take off (skin or clothes), to unloose. ఊడబీకు to root out. ఊడలాగు to pull out, to draw out.

(p. 217) ōḍu ōḍu. [Tel.] n. Defeat, loss, failure, a forfeit, a crack, chink, hole. ఆ పెనము ఓడుగానున్నది that saucepan is cracked. ఓడుబిళ్ల ōḍu-biḷḷa. Pan tiles, such as are used for roofs. T. iv. 202.

(p. 217) ōḍu ōḍu. [Tel.] v. n. or v. a. To fail, lose, to be defeated or worsted, అపజయపడు. To flow or be lost, as blood, పారు. To shrink, hesitate, fall back భయపడు, సంకోచించు. ఆట ఓడినాడు he lost the game. జీవహింసకోడి shrinking or hesitating to take away life. ఓడుపడు to be frightened. వర్రు ఓడ అనగా ప్రవాహముగా పారు to rush, as a flood. M. Xiii. ii. 451. మీమోము చూడనోడి unable to look you in the face. ఓడకోడకు fly not! flee not.

(p. 220) ōsaru or ఓసరిల్లు ōsaru. [Tel.] v. t. To step aside, to get out of the way, to evade. తొలగు. To be tired అలయు. 'తిరిగితిరిగి వేసరియో సరిలిన దాసరిగింపు.' A. iv. 52. ఓసరించు ōsarinṭsu. v. n. &t. To turn aside, remove, put aside. To fail, to push aside, move aside తప్పించు, ఓసరిలనుంచు ōsarila-n-unṭsu. v. t. To lay aside ఒక పక్కగానుంచు. ఓసరింత ōsarinta. n. Moving aside ఓసరిల్లుట.

(p. 221) augāmulu au-gāmulu. [Tel. అవును+కాములు the 'being and not being.'] n. The hitting or missing, the happening or failing. Prosperity and adversity కలిమిలేములు. Propriety and impropriety యుక్తాయుక్తతలు. Good and bad. మేలికీళ్లు. (Properly written అవుగాములు.)

(p. 266) kākapōvu kāka-pōvu. [Tel.] v. t. To fail. ఇది కాకపోయినది this failed.

(p. 271) kāpāḍu kāpāḍu. [Tel. from కాచు.] v. a. To guard, watch, keep, to preserve, or protect, patronise. To secure from failure. తనమాట కాపాడుకొనేటందుకు with a view to verify his statement.

(p. 288) kuṇṭi kunṭi. [Tel.] adj. Lame, crooked. గాలికుంట్లు windgalls, rheumatism. కుంటితనము kunṭi-tanamu. n. Lameness, a crippled state. కుంటుkunṭu. n. Lameness, crookedness. A lame man కుంటు పిచ్చుక, కుంటివాడు. v. n. To limp, to go lame. కుంటుపడు kunṭu-paḍu. v. n. To become lame. కుంటియగు. To fail, or break down as an undertaking. విఘ్నమగు. 'అపుడుద్దాలకు డాగ్రహించి నిజభార్యంజూచి నిర్బాగ్యురా, లపవిత్రంబగుపార్వణంబు నవలిలంబెంటపైవైచి కుం టుపడంజేసితి శ్రాద్ధకర్మమని.' Jai. iv. 111. To be diminished తగ్గు. To be cut off తెగు. కుంటుపారు kunṭu-pāru. v. n. To become weak. బలహీనమగు.

(p. 288) kuṇṭhanamu kunṭhanamu. [Skt.] n. A hindrance, check. Bluntness. మొక్క పోవుట. కుంఠము kunṭhamu. adj. Blunt. Lazy, dull. మొక్క పోయినది, మొద్దు. కుంఠితము kunṭhitamu. adj. Hindered, checked. Blunted మొక్కపోయిన. కుంఠీబూతుడు kunṭhī-bhūtuḍu. n. One who has been defeated. One who has failed. కుంఠుడు kunṭhuḍu. n. A ignorant man. మూఢుడు. A lazy man సోమరి.
