(p. 27) agrahāramu agra-hāramu. [Skt.] n. A street or village inhabited by brahmins. A village of which the old and hereditary cultivators are brahmins. A village granted to brahmins by government for charitable or religious purposes; either rent free, or at a favourable assessment. The conditions on which these villages are held are specified thus, సర్వాగ్రహారము a village free from all tax. శ్రోత్రియాగ్రహారము a village granted at a certain fixed assessment. జోడి అగ్రహారము, or బిల్మకా అగ్రగారము or, కట్టుబడి అగ్రహారము a village granted at a rent which fluctuates with the produce. అగ్రహారికుడు a brahmin belonging to such a village. అగ్రహారమనుభవించేవాడు he who enjoys a village free from tax.

(p. 54) anukūlamu anu-kūlamu. [Skt.] adj. Favourable, friendly, assisting, salubrious. హీతమైన, సహాయమైన, ఆరోగ్యమైన, శ్రేయస్కరమైన. అనుకూలమైన గాలి a favourable wind. వాని శరీరమునకు అనుకూలమైన స్థలము the place which agrees with him. అనుకూలమైనమాట a friendly word. అనుకూలశత్రువు a friendly enemy అనుకూల కాలము a suitable time. అనుకూలము or అనుకూలత n. Favour, goodness, kindness, aid. సహాయము, మేలు, దయ. దయ ద్రవ్యానుకూలము means, resource. దైవానుకూలము వల్ల by the grace of God. అనుకూలించు, అనుకూలపడు or అనుకూలమగు anukūlinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To be of use ఒదవు. To have effect, to have a good result. సఫలమగు, ఒనగూడు. అనుకూలము కాలేదు it failed, it had not the desired effect. నాకు ఇంకా రూకలు అనుకూల పడలేదు I have not yet obtained the money ఈ పని నీకు అనుకూలమగును you will succeed in this business. అనుకూలము చేయు or అనుకూలవరచు anukūlamuchēyu. v. a. To shew favour, to bring a thing about, to countenance. సహాయము చేయు, నెరవేర్చు. కార్యమును అనుకూలము చేసికొన్నారు they brought it about, brought it to a conclusion. అనుకూలుడు anukūluḍu. n. A friend, ally, patron. హితుడు, సహాయుడు, ఉపకారి. వాడు నాకు అనుకూలుడు he is well disposed towards me.

(p. 70) abhimukhamu abhi-mukhamu. [Skt.] adj. Fronting, facing, having the face towards. (fig.) Propitious, favourable. Allayed or subdued as disease or anger. సమ్ముఖమైన మార్యాభిముఖముగా facing the sun. నాకు అభిముఖముగా తిరుగు turn your face to me. అభిముఖమగు v. n. To face, turn towards, ఎదురుముఖముగా తిరుగు, దోవకువచ్చు, శాంతపడు. జ్వరము అభిముఖమైనప్పుడు when the fever was on the turn. అభిముఖుడు n. He who faces. సమ్ముఖుడు. మాకు అభిముఖుడై turning towards us. పర్వతాభిముఖుడై పలికెన్. he turned his face towards the mountain and said. BD. iii. 1855.

(p. 101) asamayamu a-samayamu. [Skt.] n. An inconvenient, unfit or unfavourable time. అకాలము. అసమయము adj. Unseasonable. అకాలమైన.

(p. 208) oḍipi oḍipi. [Tel.] n. A breach, opening, orifice గండి, బొంద. చెరువు ఒడిపికట్టించినందుకు ఈ చేనిని మడియిచ్చినాను we have granted this field on a favourable lease for repairing the breach in the tank.

(p. 230) kaṭākṣamu kaṭākshamu. [Skt. కట+అక్షము.] n. A look; particularly, a glance or side look; a favourable look; (hence) grace, kindness. క్రూరకటాక్షము an angry glance, కటాక్షము kaṭākshamu. interj. You are very good! I thank you! కటాక్షించు kaṭākshinṭsu. v. a. To glance at to view, to countenance or favour. కటాక్షించవలసినది be pleased to view this with a gracious eye.

(p. 342) khaṇḍanamu khanḍanamu. [Skt. from ఖన్ = to cut.] n. Breaking, dividing, cutting, reducing to pieces. నరుకుడు. Slaying, smiting, destroying, annihilating. Refuting. Rebellion, opposition. Criticism. ఖండసుడు khanḍanuḍu. n. A slayer, a smiter. ఖండము khanḍamu. n. A piece, part, fragment, portion. A chapter, a section. A country, a district, a division. ఉత్తరఖండము the Northern Division. ఖండసంవిత్తు (L. XIII. 32.) జీవేశ్వరుడు. జీవపరమాత్ముడు. ఖండశర్కర khanḍa-ṣarkara. n. Lump sugar. ఖండశశి khandaṣaṣi. n. The moon when less than full: the half moon or crescent. ఖండా khanḍā. n. A cross handled dagger. జంజాతికత్తి, పెద్దకత్తి. In poetry కలువరేకుఖండా he whose dagger is a blossom, i.e., the god of love. ఖండి khanḍi. n. The measure called a Kandy. పుట్టి. ఖండించు khanḍinṭsu. v. t. To cut to pieces, sever, divide, take to pieces, dissect. To tear or break off. To reject, confute, refute. To criticise, to test. To decide, settle, determine. ఖండింపు khanḍimpu n. A settlement, a bargain. ఖండింపుచేయు to settle a bargain, to bargain, to settle. ఖండిక or ఖండ్రిక khanḍika. n. A grange or farm house. A lot of land, or portion of a village, granted free of rent or on a favourable lease. ఖండితము khanḍitamu. adj. Severed, cut, divided. నరకబడిన. Decided, certain, strict. Absolute, down right. ఖండితోత్తరము a decisive answer. ఖండీభూతము khanḍī-bhūtamu. adj. Dashed to pieces. M. VII. iv. 308. ఖండేందువు khanḍēnduru. n. The half moon or crescent. ఖండశశి. ఖండేందు భూషణుడు he who wears a crescent as his crest, i.e, Siva.

(p. 375) guṇamu guṇamu. [Skt.] n. A quality, property, virtue, disposition, temper, character, or attribute. Tendency, effect, purpose, use. A symptom as of disease. వానికి గుణమువచ్చినది he is now come to his senses. నీలగుణము blackness. మంచి గుణము goodness, good temper. మోహగుణము the passion of lust. వానికి గుణముగానున్నది he is better, he has recovered. పది రూపాయలుయిస్తే గుణమే if he gives ten rupees so much the better. అందువల్ల యేమిగుణము what is the use of it? వానితో మాట్లాడితే గుణము లేదు there is no good in speaking to him. పది గుణములుగల or గడియకు ఒక గుణముగల freakish, changeable, whimsical వాంతిభ్రాంతిగుణము an attack or symptoms of cholera. The three Gunas are Rajah (passion) Tamah foulness: and Satvam (Truth). Added to a numeral, thus ద్విగుణము twice as much or two-fold. త్రిగుణము thrice as much, or three-fold. గుణము n. A cord, a string. త్రాడు. A bow string. అల్లెత్రాడు. గుణధ్వని the sound of the bowstring. గుణపడు guṇa-paḍu. v. n. To recover, improve, ameliorate. గుణమగు guṇa-m-agu. v. n. To recover. వారికి గుణమైనది they have improved. గుణమిచ్చు guṇa-m-iṭsṭsu. v. n. To affect favourably, as medicine, to improve the health. గుణము చేయు guṇamu-chēyu n. The cure. గుణవంతుడు or గుణయుతుడు guṇa-vantuḍu. n. A worthy or good man. గుణవతి guṇa-vati. n. A good woman. గుణి or గుణుడు guṇi. adj. Endowed or gifted with good qualities. 'గుణగుణంబులరీతి కూడిమాడి' (Paidimarri. iv. 214.) united as closely as goodness and the good, as the virtuous and virtue. అధికగుణుడు highly distinguished. గుణించు or గుణియించు guṇinṭsu. v. a. To multiply, calculate. To spell. గుణితము guṇitamu. n. Multiplication, spelling. గుణ్యత guṇyata. n. Excellence, goodness, worth. 'గుణ్యత యేమైననుసరి ప్రాణ్యవనము చేయవలయు.' T. iii. 96.

(p. 488) ṭavāyi ṭavāyi. [Tel.] n. A foul wind, an unfavourable breeze.

(p. 609) doṅga donga. [Tel. √ తీ to take lit. One who takes.] n. A thief or robber. A rogue. cheat, or hypocrite. A wretch, or miscreant: a culprit or felon. Any injurious substance as a thief in a candle or a hand core in the heart of a palmyra or plantain shoot. adj. False, delusive, sly, feigned, pretended, hypocritical, dishonest, dishonourable, mischievous, stolen, wicked, sinful. దొంగనేల land unjustly got, మోసముచేసి అపహరించిన నేల. దొంగ యిసుక a quicksand, క్రిందినీళ్లు తెలియకుండ మీదనుండు ఇసుక. దొంగనిద్ర feigned sleep. దొంగసొమ్ములు stolen goods, దొంగిలించిన సొమ్ము. దొంగికూడు food obtained fraudulently, ఇతరులెరుగకుండ మోసముచేసి తిను కూడు. దొంగగొడ్డు a curst cow, a beast, that strays into other's fields to graze there, దొంగమేత మేయుపశువు. దొంగబీగము a false key, మారుబీగము. దొంగరేయి that part of the midnight which is most favourable for robbers to go about. దొంగ భక్తి hypocrisy. దొంగమాట a deceitful word. a lie. 'దొంగవాకిట మంచమువేసినరీతిగా' a proverb implying 'make friends for the purpose of runing one.' దొంగతనము, దొంగపని or దొంగరికము donga-tanamu. n. Theft, robbery, roguery, cunning, craft, a trick, a fraud. దొంగతనంబు లీవగలు this is mere pretence. దొంగతనముగా donga-tanamu-gā. adv. Secretly, by stealth, unawares. దొంగిలించు or దొంగిలు dongilinṭsu. v. a. To steal. అపహరించు.

(p. 827) pratikūlamu prati-kūlamu. [Skt.] adj. Contrary, adverse, unfavourable, reverse, inverted. అనుకూలముకాని, విరుద్ధమైన. ప్రతికూలమైనగాలి an adverse wind.

(p. 975) mānyamu mānyamu. [Skt.] adj. Respectable, venerable. పూజ్యమైన, సమ్మానింపదగిన. n. A living: a glebe-land granted by a ruler on quit rent or on various favourable tenures. సర్వమాన్యము land entirely free of rent. అర్థమాన్యము land which pays only half the usual rent. విపరమాన్యము a glebe-land granted in exchange for another. మాన్యగాడు or మాన్యదారు one who enjoys a మాన్యము. మాన్యుడు mānyuḍu. n. A respectable or honorable man. పూజ్యుడు. One worthy of respect.

(p. 1035) mokhāsā mokhāsā. [H.] n. A village held on service tenure. A village granted at a favourable assessment or no assessment, to any person for past or expected service. మొఖాసాదారుడు a person holding the above.

(p. 1118) vaṇḍra or వందర vanḍra. [Tel.] n. A favourable lease or rent. వంద్రభూమి land unfit for cultivation.

(p. 1118) vandara vandara. [Tel.] n. A piece, fragment, bit. తునక. Also, a favourable lease or rent. వందరభూమి land unfit for cultivation. వందరలాడు vandaral-āḍu. v. a. To mangle. ఛిన్నాభిన్నముచేయు. To cut, sever, ఖండించు. 'క యక్షులు కులిశనిశాతసఖా, వళిబక్షీంద్రుడు వ్రచ్చివందరలాడెన్' M. I. ii. 100.
