(p. 232) kaṭṭubaḍi kaṭṭu-baḍi. [Tel.] n. A settlement: as of permanent revenue. కట్టుబడిబంట్రోతు a serf, a settler; a feudal retainer, who is supported by land settled upon him, a village servant. కట్టుబడిపొలము land assigned to a serf in fee. కట్టుబడి మాన్యము the land assigned to such an officer in perpetuity.

(p. 237) katti katti. [Tel.] n. A knife. A sword. తీసినకత్తితీరు బిత్తలియై నిలిచినది she stood as a drawn sword. A measure of land, which differs in various districts. It is considered to be as much as a man can reap in one day. In the Government accounts a 'cutty' is rated at 40 acres and 14 గుంటలు (q. v.) This phrase, which means a 'sword of land' implies that this quantity of land was assigned to a family which furnished the feudal lord one fighting man. కత్తికట్టేదొర katti-kaṭṭē-dora. An officer, a gentleman who wears a sword. కత్తికాసు katti-kāsu. n. A carpenter's tool for squaring. కత్తిపిట్టి katti-piṭṭa. The Cuckoo called Hierococcyx varius. చిన్న కత్తిపిట్ట The Indian plaintive cuckoo, Cacomantis passcrinus. (F.B.I.) కత్తిపిడిక a basket in which a toddy drawer keeps his knives ఈండ్రవాని కత్తుల బుట్ట. కత్తిపీట katti-pīṭa. n. A large knife standing slantwise in a block of wood upon which vegetables are sliced. కత్తిబళ్లెము katti ballemu. A 'sword spear,' a scythe-like blade mounted as a spear.

(p. 249) karakasa or కరకసా karakasa. [Tel.] n. Ill will, contention, jealousy, spite. A contest regarding boundaries of land. A border feud. కరకసభూమి. కరకసాస్థలము disputed land, debatable ground.

(p. 253) karkaśamu karkaṣamu. [Skt.] adj. Violent, harsh, rough to the feel, rugged. Hard, cruel, unfeeling కనికరములేని, కరువైన, నొప్పించే. కర్కశమైనమాటలు harsh words. కర్కశము or కర్కస or కరకసా n. Roughness, want of smoothness: ruggedness. కరుకు. A feud, an old grudge, particularly between those who dispute about their respective boundaries. కర్కసపొలము debatable land, ground claimed by both parties.

(p. 255) kalambamu kalambamu. [Skt.] n. An arrow. బాణము. Dissension, confusion. గృహకలంబము family feuds, brawls అలకలు.

(p. 747) pālemu, pāḷemu or పాళియము pālemu. [Tel.] n. Watching or guarding. కావలి. A town ruled by a Poligar or petty baron, పాళెగాని ఊరు. A hamlet, a small village, పల్లె, చిన్నగ్రామము. An army, a force, troops, దండు. A camping ground, దండువిడియుచోటు. Encamping, halting. A barony or county under a petty chief. పాలెమున్నవారు soldiers in garrison. 'మెలకువరసి కోటచులుకదాటి పాలెమున్న వారిపై నొల్కిబూడిదెమన్నుజల్లి, పెద్దమదులు కొంతకూలద్రవ్వి.' G. 120. 'మృగయావిహారముల్ దేవదలిర్పజేయుటకు శీఘ్రమపాళియమెత్తి.' Kālahas. iii. 71. పాలెగాడు or పాళెగాడు pāḷe-gāḍu. n. A feudal retainer, a petty chieftain called a Poligar. పాళెపట్టు pāḷe-paṭṭu. n. Feudal tenure in fee. Villages held by petty chiefs free of assessment. పాళెముపట్టు pāḷemu-paṭṭu. n. An encampment. దండువిడిసినస్థలము. A polygar's estate, పాళెగాని రాజ్యము.

(p. 1002) muttarāca or ముతరాచ, ముత్తరాచవాండ్లు or ముత్తిరాజులు mutta-rāṭsa. [Tel.] n. The name of a certain Sudra caste, the members of which were originally feudal retainers. The people of this caste.

(p. 1323) sāmantuḍu sāmantuḍu. [Skt.] n. A neighbouring king, a feudatory prince, ఇరుగుపొరుగురాజు. 'దొరలుసామంతులదుర్గాధి పతులు.' Sar. D. 592. సామంతరాగోల sāmanta-rāgōla. n. A kind of weapon. ఆయుధవిశేషము. రాగోల అనగా, పంగలకట్టె.' ద్వి సామంతరాగోలసాచి వేసినను, వలభుజంబున దాకివసుధేశుడలిగి.' Pal. 413.
