(p. 52) ani ani. [Tel.] (Past p|| of అను to say) Having said. This is translated by the word 'That' or 'so' or the infinitive mood is used, as వారు అక్కడ ఉండినారని అన్నాడు he told me that they were there. అవతల వెళ్లరాదని తిరిగీ వస్తిమి we did not think it right to go on and returned; we thought we must not go further; so we came back. నన్ను పొమ్మని చెప్పెను he told me to go. తన సొమ్మని యెంచి considering it his own. దాన్ని నాకని కొన్నాడు he bought it for me. కావలెనని అక్కడికి పోయినాడు he went there on purpose. పండ్లను పటపటమని కొరికినాడు he gnashed his teeth. ఘమ్మని fragrantly. తళుక్కని brilliantly. గడగడమని మాట్లాడినాడు he spoke rapidly. ఈగలు జుమ్మని ముసురు కొన్నవి the flies covered it buzzingly. నీవు ఈ శాలువ కప్పుకొంటే గుమ్మని ఉండును if you wear this shawl it feels warm: or, you will feel warm.

(p. 90) alli alli. [Tel.] n. The water plant called Nymphœa alba. అల్లికాడ is peduncle or flower stalk. అల్లిపువ్వు the flower of this water plant. ఉత్పలభేదము. ఆకాశపు అల్లి Menyanthes cristata, a water plant. అల్లి Nymphœa Lotus, a variety with a red flower. Rox. ii. 260, says. 'అల్లి is Memecylon Edule: a wild shrub, like broom, with beautiful fragrant flowers in bunches.' దాని ఒళ్లు అల్లికాడవలెనున్నది her body is like the stem of a water lily, she is very chilly. అల్లిరాగులు the fruit of the blue lotus.

(p. 91) alliceṭṭu alli-cheṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A kind of wild shrub, with beautiful and fragrant lilac flowers in bunches. ఒక అడవిచెట్టు అల్లికర్ర the wood of this plant. అల్లి బియ్యము the seed of this plant.

(p. 137) ippa ippa. [Tel.] n. Bassia latifolia or, the Butter Tree or Mahua Tree. పిన్న ఇప్ప చెట్టు Bassia longifolia, the Mowa or Mahua Tree of South India. సీమ ఇప్పచెట్టు Achras Sapota, the Sapodilla Plum of the West Indies. The Bully or Neesberry Tree (Watts.) ఇప్పపిండి the flour made from the seeds. ఇప్పపూరా౛నాలు a fragrant sort of rice. ఇప్పసారాయి strong spirit obtained from the ఇప్పచెట్టు.

(p. 172) uśīramu uṣīramu. [Skt.] n. A sort of fragrant root, Audropogon muricaṭus usually termed వట్టివేరు cuss-cuss.

(p. 222) auru auru. [Tel. properly written అవురు.] n. Rushes, bulrush. A fragrant grass, Andropogon muricatum. వీరణము, అవురుగడ్డి. Also called విడవలి అవురు మీటలు a lever for raising weights. A. iv. 162. vi. 13.

(p. 238) kadambamu or కదంబకము kadambamu. [Skt.] n. A mixture. మిశ్రము. An assembly, a collection గుంపు, సముదాయము. A garland of various flowers, a mixture of divers things, a miscellany. బాణకదంబకము a flight or cloud of arrows. నృపాలకదంబము an assembly of kings. A certain flowering plant called Nauclea Cadamba. మొగులు కడిమి. ఆవాలు. రుద్రాక్షకదంబము Anthocephalus Cadamaba (Watts.) కదంబపొడి kadamba-poḍi. n. Pouncet. A fragrant powder compounded of various essence. కదంబించు kadambinṭsu. v. i. To be mixed మిళితమగు. To mix మిళితము చేయు.

(p. 239) kanakamu kanakamu. [Skt.] n. Gold. 'కనకంబునకును సౌరభ్యము కలిగినట్లు' (L. XIX. 332.) 'Marvellous as would be fragrance in gold: it is as strange as though gold were fragrant. (The Telugu poets frequently mention this fancy; that, were gold gifted with fragrance, it would be indeed perfect.) 'భూతిగడ్డకేల పుట్టించెవాసన, కనకము తనకేమి కల్లజేసె.' వేమన.

Delicious, in odour or taste, sweet. కమ్మనిపసిడి fine gold. కమ్మగా well, in good order, sweetly. కమ్మగాడ్పు a fragrant breeze or wind. కమ్మదనము or కమ్మన [Tel. from కమ్మ adj.] fragrance, deliciousness. మాధుర్యము, సౌరభము. కమ్మని fragrant, pleasant. కమ్మనీరు the nectar or honey of flowers. మకరందము. కమ్మనూనె good sesamum oil or fragrant oil. మంచినూనె . కమ్మపిల్లి the civic cat పునుగుపిల్లి. కమ్మవిల్తుడు or కమ్మవిలుకాడు the sweet or lovely bowman, an epithet of the Hindu Cupid.

Camphor. పచ్చకర్పూరము crude camphor. రసకర్పూరము calomel. కర్పూరనూనె camphor oil. కర్పూర అరిటిపండు a fragrant kind of plantain. కర్పూరవంకాయ a kind of small brinjal. కర్పూరబెండ a certain vegetable. కర్పూరవల్లి karpūra-valli. See under ఓనము. కర్పూరశిలాజతు karpūra-ṣilā-jatu. n. A foliated crystallized gypsum, the powder of which, like white alabaster, is used in the preparation of stucco and as a medicine for ulcers. (p. 261) kalhāramu kal-hāramu. [Skt.] n. A reddish fragrant water lily.

(p. 264) kasturi or కస్తూరి kasturi. [Skt.] n. Musk. The black spot or line on the forehead, formed of musk. కస్తూరితిలకము a beauty spot or patch of musk. A familiar name for any dog. (Swa. i.) కస్తూరితుమ్మ kastūri-tumma. A fragrant species of the Babul tree. See తుమ్మ. కస్తూరిపట్టె kastūri-paṭṭe. A kind of flower శ్రీరంగకస్తూరిపట్టెలు the pink species. కస్తూరిపసుపు kastūri-pasupu. n. A fragrant kind of turmeric. Turmeric-coloured Zedoary. (Ainslie). కస్తూరిమళ్ల చీర a sort of cloth with lines forming squares.

(p. 287) kuṅkuma kunkuma. [Skt.] n. A fragrant cosmetic or rouge, composed of turmeric, alum and lime juice. కూతురికి కుంకుమకుగాను ఇచ్చిన భూమి land granted to the daughter for pin money. కుంకుమ కేసరము kunkuma-kēsaramu. n. A certain fragrant cosmetic. కుంకుమపువ్వు kunkuma-puvvu. n. Saffron. కుంకుమపూజిట్ట kunkuma-pū-jiṭṭa. n. The small Minivet. Pericrocotus peregrinus (F.B.I.) కుంకుమము kankumamu. n. Saffron. జాఫరా, చెందిరము.
