(p. 8) aṇṭu antu. [Tel.] n. Uncleanness, defilement by touch, impurity, such as is caused by the death of a relative, or by touching a lower caste man. Relationship. అంటుది an unclean woman. అంటుపడ్డాడు he was polluted, he became unclean. అంటుగా ఉండేయిల్లు. a house ceremonially polluted. మాకు రేపు అంటు (లేక, మైల) వదులును tomorrow we shall be free from [ceremonial] impurity. వానికనిమాకును మరేమి అంటుసంటు లేదు I have no connection with him. I have nothing to do with him.

(p. 20) akrōdhanuḍu a-krōdhanuḍu. [Skt.] n. One who is free from anger.

(p. 27) agrahāramu agra-hāramu. [Skt.] n. A street or village inhabited by brahmins. A village of which the old and hereditary cultivators are brahmins. A village granted to brahmins by government for charitable or religious purposes; either rent free, or at a favourable assessment. The conditions on which these villages are held are specified thus, సర్వాగ్రహారము a village free from all tax. శ్రోత్రియాగ్రహారము a village granted at a certain fixed assessment. జోడి అగ్రహారము, or బిల్మకా అగ్రగారము or, కట్టుబడి అగ్రహారము a village granted at a rent which fluctuates with the produce. అగ్రహారికుడు a brahmin belonging to such a village. అగ్రహారమనుభవించేవాడు he who enjoys a village free from tax.

(p. 28) accāḷi or అచ్చాళు aṭṭsāḷi. (K) One who lives a single life, an unmarried person. ఒంటిమనిషి, ఏకాంగిగా మండేవాడు, సంసారపు పీకులాటలేనివాడు అచ్చాళుగానుండు or అచ్చాళిగానుండు to be alone, to be quiet, free from perturbation. 'చారుశిలాముఖ్యజలజలోచనల, చేరికాబంధుల చెలులనీక్షణమె, పగరకుజొరరాక బహుదుర్గమార్గ, మగుకోహళమహర్షి యాశ్రమస్థలిని, జేరిచి మనము నిశ్చింతనేతెంచి, యారూఢిబలయుక్తి నచ్చాళిగాగ, అనికిసన్నద్ధులమై యందమవల.' Pātivratya. 35.

(p. 110) ajavañjavamu āja-vanjavamu. [Skt.] n. The world, earthly ties. A family. సంసారము. 'ఆజవంజవభ్రమాతీత మార్గుడై.' (Chenn. iv. 132.) He who is freed from earthly ties. అజవంజవమానమాలిన్యము worldy defilement.

(p. 50) anargaḷamu an-argaḷamu. [Skt.] n. adj. Resistless, unimpeded, free, unrestrained. నిరంకుశమైన, అడ్డములేని.

(p. 98) avyājamu a-vyājamu. [Skt.] adj. Not cunning, honest.కపటములేని. Causeless. నిర్హేతుకమైన. అవ్యాజకరుణ free grace.

(p. 104) asvatantramu a-svatantramu. [Skt.] adj. Not free, dependent. పరాధీనమైన. అస్వతంత్రుడు asvatantruḍu. n. A dependant, one who is not a free agent, not his own master. పరాధీనుడు.

(p. 104) asvādhīnamu a-svādhīnamu. [Skt.] adj. Dependent, not. free. అస్వతంత్రమైన. ఆ సొత్తు వానికి అస్వాధీనముగా నుండినది the property was not in his power.

(p. 123) ārṣamu ārsḥạmu. [Skt. from ఋషి] adj. Relating to, belonging to or derived from a Rishi. ఋషిసంబంధమైన. Spiritual, prophetical; inspired or revealed by means of a Rishi. Archaic. పురాతనము. n. A form of marriage in which a girl is freely given away in accordance with the Sastras, her parents receiving a cow and an ox in return. ధర్మార్థము వరునినుండి ఆవును ఎద్దును పుచ్చుకొని కన్యనిచ్చి శాస్త్రానుసారముగా చేయు పెండ్లి.

(p. 136) ināmu or ఈనాము ināmu. [H.] Inam, a present of gift; land granted by the Government rent free for ever or subject to a small quit rent. A present by Government. మాన్యము, బహుమానము. ఇనాముదారుడు a holder of an inam. నెత్తురుకట్టు ఇనాము land granted to such as had shed blood in battle. కదీంయినాము an old bequest. దివిటీయినాము a grant of land to a torchbearer. ఇనాయతుచేయు to grant.

(p. 148) umbaḷamu , ఉంబళి or ఉంబళిక umbaḷamu. [Tel.] adj. Free from taxation. ఈనామైన, పన్ను లేని. ఉంబళగ్రామము a village free of rent. జాగీరుగ్రామము.

(p. 176) ūraka or ఊరికె ūraka. [Tel.] adv. Without. For nothing. Silently, merely, idly, in vain. Without cause, of itself, spontaneously, voluntarily, causelessly. Without employment; unoccupied, empty, vacant. ఇల్లు ఊరికె ఉన్నది the house is vacant. ఊరికె పోనిచ్చు to let a thing go free. ఊరికెవచ్చు without any special purpose. ఊరకుండు to submit, to still; to be passive or silent. చ ... 'ఒప్పుత, ప్పరయురసజ్ఞు లూహదెలియంగల లేఖ కపాఠకోత్తముల్, దొరికినగాక యూరకకృతుల్ రచియించుమటన్న శక్యమే.' (అల్లసాని పెద్దన్న) i.e., how can a poet compose verse without these conveniences?

(p. 176) ūraṭa ūraṭa. [Tel.] n. Comforting. ఊరడించుట. Rest. విరామము. Ease, freedom, leisure. Aid, help. సహాయము. ఊరటపడు ūraṭa-paḍu. v. n. To be consoled. ఊరటపరచు ūraḍa-paraṭsu. v. a. To console. ఊరడించు ūraḍinṭsu. v. a. To comfort, console. ఉపశమించు. ఊరడిల్లు or ఊరడు ūraḍillu. v. n. To be calmed, appeased, comforted, consoled. శాంతినొందు. ఊరడబల్కె he spoke consolingly.

(p. 178) ṛṇamu ṛiṇamu. [Skt.] n. Debt, obligation. A claim, a title or lien. ఇంతకున్ను ఇక్కడి నీళ్ల ఋణము ఎన్ని రోజులు ప్రాప్తి ఉన్నదో besides I know not how much longer it is my fate to dwell here. ఋణపడు ṛiṇa-paḍu. v. n. To get into debt. ఋణముచేయు ṛiṇamu-chēyu. v. a. To contract a debt, to borrow. ఋణముతీర్చు ṛiṇamu-tīrṭsu. To discharge a debt. ఋణత్రయము the three kinds of obligation, viz., దేవఋణము, ఋషిఋణము and పితృఋణము. ఋణవిముక్తుడు ṛiṇa-vimuktuḍu. n. One who is free from debt. ఋణస్థుడు. or ఋణి or ఋణికుడు ṛiṇasthuḍu. n. A debtor. ఋణార్ణము ṛiṇārṇamu. n. A debt contracted to pay off another debt. అప్పు తీర్చుటకై చేసిన అప్పు.
