(p. 7) añca antsạ. [Vikriti of హంస.] n. A swan. అంచయాన a woman that walks as gracefully as a swan. అంచరవుతు Brahma who rides on a swan.

(p. 6) añcitamu anchitamu. [Skt.] a. Worshipped, revered. అంచితముగా adv. Worshipfully, admirably.

(p. 29) accukonu aṭṭsu-konu. [Tel.] v. n. To pay, pay wrongfully, liquidate. దండగపెట్టు. వాడు దివాణమునకు పది రూపాయలు అచ్చుకొన్నాడు he paid ten Rupees to government. ఆ నేలకుగాను నలభైరూపాయలు అచ్చుకొనియున్నాను. I have suffered, on account of that land, a loss of forty rupees. మేము అచ్చుకొనువారము we will make it good.

(p. 57) anumati anumati. [Skt.] n. Agreement, consent, permission, leave. The fourteenth day of the moon's age, on which she rises one digit less than full. సమ్మతి, అనుజ్ఞ. న్యూనేందుకళాపూర్ణిమ, చతుర్ధశీ యుక్తపూర్ణిమ తండ్రి అనుమతిని కొమారుడు రంగయ్య వ్రాలు signed by Rangayya with the consent of his father అనుమతించు v. n. To consent.

(p. 60) anyāyamu a-nyāyamu. [Skt.] n. Injustice, wrong. అనీతి, అధర్మము, అన్యాయార్జితధనము ill gotten wealth. ఇదేమి అన్యాయము what a shame this is! అన్యాయము adj. Unjust, wrong. నీతిలేని, అధర్మమైన. అన్యాయముగా adv. Unjustly, wrongfully. ఆధర్మముగా, నీతి లేకుండా. అన్యాయస్థుడు n. An unjust man, a sinner. దుర్నీతుడు.

(p. 73) amaṇḍāramuga a-mandāramu-ga. [Skt.] adv. Abundantly, greatly, plentifully విస్తారముగా. 'మందారమహిజమ మందారమున నిచ్చు కనకాంబరంబులు కటుంగట్టి.' N. ii. 425.

(p. 82) arupukonu arupu-konu. [Tel.] v. a. To digest; to enjoy the possession of జీర్ణముచేసికొను, దక్కించుకొను. వారిసొమ్మును అన్యాయముగా అపహరించినాడు గాని దానిని వాడు అరుపుకోలేడు he has got the wealth wrongfully and will not be able to enjoy it.

(p. 100) aṣṭamamu ashṭamamu. [Skt.] adj. The eighth. అష్టమి ashṭami. n. The eighth lay after the new or full moon, the eighth phase of the moon. ఎనిమిదవ తిథి. అష్టావదశము ashṭā-daṣamu. adj. Eighteen. పదునెనిమిదవది.

(p. 106) ākaṇṭhamu ākaṇṭhamu. [Skt.] adv. Full, up to the neck. గొంతుమట్టుకు. H. i. 186. ఆకంఠపూర్తిగా భక్షించినాడు he ate to the full.

(p. 108) ākramiñcu ā-kraminṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To appropriate wrongfully, to encroach on, usurp. ఆక్రమణము ā-kramaṇamu. [Skt.] n. Surrounding, occupying, usurpation, filling (as smoke.) అక్రాంతిము ā-krāntamu. adj. Appropriated, seized. ఆక్రమింపబడినది. రాజాక్రాంతము seized by the king. ఆక్రాంతి ā-krānti. n. Filling, pervading, spreading through. (T. iv. 159.) వ్యాపకము.

(p. 113) ādaṭa ādaṭa. [Tel.] n. Fulness, satiety, love. ప్రేమము, తృప్తి, తనివి. ఆదటపోయిన. full, satisfied. ఆదటబోక. without satiating his appetite.

(p. 115) āna āna. [from Skt. ఆజ్ఞ] n. Command or order. ఆజ్ఞ n. Oath, adjuration. తోడు అని ఒట్టుపెట్టుకొనుట. Protestation. ఆన పూర్వకముగా faithfully, according to oath. ఆనలుకడకండ్లు అప్పు మొప్పు oaths are nonsense and a debt is a plague. నీయాన I swear by thee. నాయాన I swear by myself (as in English upon my word, upon my honor.)

(p. 120) āra āra. [Tel.] n. A shoemaker's awl. మాదిగవానిసూది. ఆర adv. (lit. so as to fill) Much; fully. (From ఆరు.) It is often added to a noun; as చెవులార వింటిని I heard it distinctly: కండ్లార చూస్తిని I saw him plainly with my own eyes. కడుపార భోజనము చేసినాను I ate to the full. ఆర āra. [Tel.] A vocative plural suffix as అన్నలార. O brothers!

(p. 122) āru āru. [Tel.] v. n. To teem with, be full of నిండు; to be or have. సొంపారిన beautiful. ఇంపారిన delightful. నిండారుగానున్నది it is full. అలరారు blooming. చెన్నారిన lovely. పొల్పారిన charming (compare the affix ఆరి as నేర్పరి, సొంపరి, &c.) గోజారు to trouble. సొంపారు to bloom, to be pretty. In such phrases as నూరారు వెయ్యారు the word అరు is not the numeral six, but is a form of అరు to be full; so వెయ్యారు means full thousand and నూరారు full a hundred. నూరారుముద్దులు a full hundred kisses. చేతులారంగ శివుని పూజింపడేని if he sacrifice not to Siva with his own hands. చేతులార రూకలు చెల్లిస్తిని I paid the money with my own hands. పని ఆరుమూడు అయినది the work is all in confusion, at sixes and sevens.

(p. 123) ārdramu ārdramu. [Skt.] adj. Wet, damp, moist, imbued, steeped. తడిసిన. See ఆకుద్రపురుగు, దయార్ద్రదృష్టి with eyes moist with love or full of love. ఆర్ద్రకము ārdrakamu.n. Undried ginger. అలము.
