(p. 47) adhiṣṭhiñcu adhi-sṭhinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To reside, be in. ఆశ్రయించి ఉండు, ఆవహించి ఉండు. అధిష్ఠానము adhi-sṭhānamu. [Skt.] n. Abode, residence, residing in. The place of abode. ఆశ్రయించి ఉండడము, ఉనికిపట్టు. అధిష్ఠానదేవత n. a tutelary or guardian deity, a presiding deity. విద్యాధిష్ఠానదేవత n. the patron of learning. అధిష్ఠాన n. One who takes up a residence.

(p. 253) karta karta. [Skt. from √ - kri, to make.] n. Maker, author, doer. చేయువాడు. The nominative case in grammar. గ్రంథకర్త an author. అట్లు చెప్పడానకు కర్తలమా who are we that we should say this? అర్థాంశ కర్త a half owner. విచారణకర్త a superintendent, an examiner. ధనఋణంబులకు కర్తతనయుండుగదా a son is the person concerned in our gains and losses. గ్రామకర్త the head of a village. 'వెరపెరుంగక స్వచ్ఛందవృత్తియందు నాకొకడు కర్త లేడు.' I live according to my own inclinations and have no master. వాని ధనఋణములకు కర్త నయినాను I came in for both his goods and debts. కైంకర్యకర్త he who presents a sacrifice; ధర్మకర్త the warden of a temple. న్యాయకర్త an officer of justice, a ruler. తన ఆస్తిని నలుగురు ధర్మకర్తలను ఏర్పరచిపోయినాడు he died leaving four guardians or executors of his property. స్మృతికర్త a lawgiver, a legislator. క్షేత్రకర్త a mere tenant at will.

(p. 746) pāliñcu pālinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To nourish, cherish, foster, protect. To rule, govern. పోషించు, రక్షించు, ఏలు, కాపాడు. పాలిక pālika. n. An earthen vessel containing mould in which nine sorts of seed are sown, in accordance with a rite in Hindu weddings. పాలికలు ఓలలాడుదురు the bridesmaids perform a certain ceremony, as the conclusion of the wedding. పాలితము pālitamu. adj. Protected, cherished, nourished. పాలిని pālini. n. She who protects or rules. పాలించునది. పాలకుడు pālakuḍu. n. A guardian, protector. రక్షకుడు. పాలనము pālanamu. n. Preserving, guarding, cherishing: government. రక్షణము. ఆలన పాలన caring, heeding, regard.

(p. 747) pālemu, pāḷemu or పాళియము pālemu. [Tel.] n. Watching or guarding. కావలి. A town ruled by a Poligar or petty baron, పాళెగాని ఊరు. A hamlet, a small village, పల్లె, చిన్నగ్రామము. An army, a force, troops, దండు. A camping ground, దండువిడియుచోటు. Encamping, halting. A barony or county under a petty chief. పాలెమున్నవారు soldiers in garrison. 'మెలకువరసి కోటచులుకదాటి పాలెమున్న వారిపై నొల్కిబూడిదెమన్నుజల్లి, పెద్దమదులు కొంతకూలద్రవ్వి.' G. 120. 'మృగయావిహారముల్ దేవదలిర్పజేయుటకు శీఘ్రమపాళియమెత్తి.' Kālahas. iii. 71. పాలెగాడు or పాళెగాడు pāḷe-gāḍu. n. A feudal retainer, a petty chieftain called a Poligar. పాళెపట్టు pāḷe-paṭṭu. n. Feudal tenure in fee. Villages held by petty chiefs free of assessment. పాళెముపట్టు pāḷemu-paṭṭu. n. An encampment. దండువిడిసినస్థలము. A polygar's estate, పాళెగాని రాజ్యము.

(p. 846) prāpiñcu prāpinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To obtain, get, attain to. పొందు. ప్రాపు prāpu. n. A prop. A protection, support, a refuge; patronage; a person on whom one depends, ఆసరా, ఆశ్రయము. ఆయనప్రాపుననున్నాము we are under his protection. ప్రాప్తము praptamu. adj. Obtained, gained, acquired, received, procured, caught, as a disease, పొందబడిన. కుష్ఠు అతనికి ప్రాప్తమైనందున because he caught the leprosy. n. That which is obtained. that which falls to one's lot, luck, fortune. నాప్రాప్తమింతే this is all I can get, such is my luck. ప్రాప్తి prāpti. n. Obtaining, attaining, పొందడము. Gain, profit, లాభము. One of the eight superhuman faculties, the power of obtaining every thing one desires. అష్టైశ్వర్యములలో నొకటి. Luck, fortune. అదృష్టము. వానికి అంతే ప్రాప్తి this is all he can get. దాని ప్రాప్తి అట్లు ఉండినది such was her luck. నీకు అది ప్రాప్తిలేదు you were not fortunate enough to get it. ప్రాప్తించు prāptinṭsu. v. n. To happen or occur; to be gained, obtained, found. కలుగు, లభించు. వానికి రోగము ప్రాప్తించినది he contracted or caught a disease. ప్రాప్తుడు prāptuḍu. n. One who has attained. వారు వైకుంఠ ప్రాప్తులరి they went to Vishnu's heaven, i.e., they died. ప్రాప్యము prāpyamu. adj. Attainable, procurable, that may be got. పొందదగిన. ప్రాపకము prāpakamu. n. Protection, patronage, refuge. అవలంబము, అవష్టంభము, ఆసరా, ప్రాపకుడు prāpakuḍu. n. One who puts an object within our power or reach. ఘటకుడు. A patron, protector, guardian.

(p. 952) manu manu. [Tel.] v. n. To live, exist. జీవించు. To conduct oneself, వర్తించు. 'కంటిని శ్రీపాద కమలంబులేను, మంటినింకేటికి మగుడుదుననిన.' BD. iii. 2220. n. An abode, house, residence. వాసస్థానము. మనుగడ manugaḍa. n. Life, living. జీవనము, జీవించడము. Means of livelihood, జీవనోపాయము. 'మనుగడదప్పునొక్క మునిమాటలుచేకొననైతి.' M. XII. iii. 370. మనుచు, మంచు, మనుపు or మన్పు manuṭsu. v. a. To cause to live, to nourish, to take care of, bring up. మనజేయు, పోషించు, బ్రతికించు. మనుదిండి or మన్దిండి manudinḍi. n. Lit: That which eats earth, i.e., a kind of snake, ఒకవిధమైన పాము. మనుపరి manupari. n. A guardian, కాపరి, రక్షకుడు. మనుపీనుగు manu-pīnugu. n. A living corpse, జీవచ్ఛవము. మనువృత్తి, మనోవర్తి or మనువర్తి manu-vritti. n. Maintenance, support; a pension, allowance, stipend. మనువు manuvu. n. Life, living, జీవనము, బ్రతుకుట. Conduct, వర్తనము. Choosing a husband, the choice of a husband, మగని వరించుట. A husband, మగడు. A fitting match, implying a proper or respectable son-in-law. వివాహనిశ్చయము. అతడు కూతుళ్లకు మనువులుచిక్కక అల్లాడుచున్నాడు he is at a loss for a suitable match for his daughters. మంచిమనువుచిక్కితే కూతురికి పెండ్లిచేస్తాడు. if he meets with a suitable match he is ready to give his daughter in marriage. మారుమనువు a second marriage of a woman, ఆడదానికి రెండవ వివాహము. మనుగుడుపు manu-guḍupu. n. A final entertainment given by the bride's parents to the bridegroom, after the conclusion of the whole marriage ceremonies.

(p. 1054) yamuḍu yamuḍu. [Skt.] n. Yama, the ruler of Naraka or hell, and judge of departed souls; 'the genius of death:' also, the guardian of the southern point of the heavens. He is often identified with death, and corresponds with the Grecian Pluto or Minos. దండధరుడు. ఇది యమగండముగానున్నది this is terribly difficult. యమకింకిరులు messengers of death, angels of death. యమధాటి yama-dhāṭi. n. A kind of weapon, ౛ముదారి. యమధారము yama-dhāramu. n. A double e edged sword.

(p. 1155) vāraṇamu vāraṇamu. [Skt.] n. Resistance. opposition, warding off a blow, guarding, defence: a shield. నివారించడము, వారించుట ప్రతిషేధము, డాలు. An elephant, ఏనుగు. వారణరాజము the prince of elephants. వారణపుడేగ vāraṇapu-ḍēga. n. A kind of hawk, డేగలలోభేదము. Jerdon. No. 33. వారణబుస or వారణనవృష vāraṇa-busa. n. The plantain tree. అరటిచెట్టు. వారణ vāraṇa. n. An embankment, చెలియలికట్ట.

(p. 1283) saṃrakṣaṇa or సంరక్షణము sam-rakshaṇa. [Skt.] n. Sustaining, support, maintenance, nourishment, guardianship, charge patronage. పోషణ, పాలనము, కాపాడడము సంరక్షించు sam-rakshinṭsu. v. a. To support, protect, maintain, patronize, rear సంరక్షణచేయు, పోషించు, పాలించు, కాపాడు పెంచు. సంరక్షకుడు sam-rakshakuḍu. n. A protector, trustee, patron, guardian పాలకుడు, పోషకుడు.
