(p. 20) akṣacaraṇuḍu aksha-charaṇuḍu. [Skt.] lit. eyefooted; who has an eye in his foot. An epithet of the sage Gautama. గౌతముడు. A follower of the Nyaya Philosophy.

(p. 21) akṣaramu aksharamu. [Skt. lit Eternal. imperishable.] n. A letter, a single syllable, a character of the alphabet, hand writing. A single syllable, whether of one letter or more. Thus the word సంస్కృతం Sam-skru-tam is termed a word of three letters. ఏకాక్షరము a monosyllable. సంయుక్తాక్షరము two or more letters united in one syllable, as స్త్రీ wherein four letters are united. త్య్రక్షరి try-ak-shari; the sacred or mystic syllable (ఓం AUM, or O'M a name of the Deity) that contains three letters. అక్షరజ్ఞుడు a man of letters. అక్షరాభ్యాసము beginning to learn the alphabet or the first principles of a language; మంత్రాక్షరము a cypher of syllable used in magic. ఇది ఆయన అక్షరము కాదు this is not his handwriting. నీవద్ద అప్పుగా తీసుకొన్న రూ 300 అక్షరాల మున్నూరు రూపాయీలు i.e., 'Rs. 300 (three hundred Rupees.)' here the same sum is denoted in writing as well as in figures. వాడు నిరక్షరకుక్షి he is an illiterate man. వానికి నోట్లో అక్షరాలు లేచియున్నవి his mouth is inflammed. అక్షరవిన్యాసము, the array of letters, writing.

(p. 22) agacaramu or అగచరుడు agacharamu. [Skt.] n. The hill-ranger, i.e., a monkey. కోతి.

(p. 25) agōcaramu a-gōcharamu. [Skt.] adj. Not visible to the eye. Inconceivable, imperceptible. గ్రహ్యముకాని, అగుపడని.

(p. 27) acaramu a-charamu. [Skt. lit. not moving.] adj. Immovable. స్థావరమైన.

(p. 45) adharamu adharamu. [Skt.] n. Lip. పెదవి. The underlip. క్రింది పెదవి. అధురమధువు the honey of the lip. అధరము adj. Low, inferior, vile. దిగుడైన, నీచమైన. Lower. 'ప్రతతోర్థ్వాధరభాగపీఠయుగళీ భాస్వత్త్సంభ సంస్థితి.' Amuk. i. 6.

(p. 51) anācāramu an-āchāramu. [Skt.] n. Improper conduct, Impurity. దుర్నడత, అశుచి. అనాచరణము an-acharaṇamu [Skt.] n. Non-observance.

(p. 52) anityamu a-nityamu. [Skt.] adj. Temporary, not permanent. అస్థిరమైన. అనిత్యత్వము state of not being permanent; transient character of a thing.

(p. 58) anusvāramu anu-svāramu. [Skt.] n. The name of the letter (O) the nasal character. సున్న, బిందువు.

(p. 58) anūkamu anūkamu. [Skt.] n. Race, family; peculiarity of race, character. అన్వయము, శీలము.

(p. 60) anvarthamu an-v-arthamu. [Skt.] adj. Descriptive, expressing the properties or attributes. సార్థకమైన. అన్వర్థనామము a name which suits one's character. అన్వర్థ సంజ్ఞ a significant term, a term whose meaning is intelligible in itself.

(p. 63) apahariñcu apa-harinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To pillage, plunder, take by violence or deceit, usurp. ముచ్చిలించు, అన్యాయముగా ఎత్తుకొని పోవు. అపహరణము apa-haraṇamu. [Skt.] n. Plundering, purloining, carrying off, stealing. చౌర్యము, ముచ్చిలించడము, అన్యాయముగా ఎత్తుకొని పోవడము. అపహర్త n. One who carries away by force or violence, a thief, rogue. అపహారము apahāramu. [Skt.] n. Pillage, plunder, taking by violence. దోచుకోవడము. సర్వస్వాపహారము robbing of everything. హాదత్తాపపాదము taking back a gift. దత్తాహృతము adj. that which is robbed or stolen.

(p. 86) alacu or అలంచు alaṭsu. [Tel. Causative of అలయు to be tired.] v. a. To tease, harass. బాధపెట్టు.

(p. 87) alapu alapu. [Tel.] a To cause to be fatigued, to harass or trouble. అలయునట్లు చేయు, బాధించు, తొందరపెట్టు. 'వనచరుడైనన్న లపగజనుదేరనోపుననుచు.' BRS. 325.

(p. 88) alayiñcu alayinṭsu.[Tel.] v. a. To trouble, harass, weary, fatigue. శ్రమపెట్టు, బడలించు. 'అందరికి నన్నిరూపులై యతులగతుల రతులవలయించె.' N. ix. 422.
