(p. 106) ākarṣamu ākarshamu. [Skt.] n. Pulling, hauling: attracting, drawing. ఈడ్వడము. ఆకర్షకము ā-karshakamu n. That which attracts, a magnet. ఆకర్షణము ākarshaṇamu n. The act of drawing, or attracting. ఆకర్షణ మంత్రము a magic spell that has power to draw or attract, putting an enemy in our power. ఆకర్షణశక్తి n. The power of attraction or gravity. ఆకర్షించు ākarshinṭsu. To attract. ఆకర్షితము ā-karshitamu. adj. That which is attracted. ఆకర్షింపబడినది.

(p. 134) iggu iggu. [Tel.] v. a. To pull, haul, drag, jerk, struggle. Subh. ii. 30. To incline to a side or backwards. ఒరుగు, వెనుకకు ఒరుగు. ఇగ్గులడు iggul-āḍu. v. To pull, to jerk, to struggle. ఇగ్గులాట iggu-l-āṭa. n. Struggling, jerking, pulling backwords. వెనుకకీడ్చుట.

(p. 144) īḍcu or ఈడుచు īḍṭsu. [Tel. causative of ఈడు] v. a. To pull, haul, drag. కండ్లు లోపలికి యీడ్చుకొని పోయినవి his eyes are sunken.

(p. 365) gāliñcu gālinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To search, overhaul, sift. వెదకు. To sift grain in water and thus remove the stones in it. గాలింపు gālimpu. n. Clearance, riddance, sifting.

(p. 371) guṃzu gunzu [Tel.] v. a. To pull: ఈడ్చు. To wash clothes or to mangle linen ఉదుకు n. Pulp; pith. గు౛్జు. గుం౛ుకొను gunzu-konu. v. a. To haul, pull, draw by force. గుం౛ునుసుకు gunzu-nusuku. n. Mocking, bear's play; gibing, joking. గుంజుపిట్ట gunzu-piṭṭa. n. A sort of mocking bird, like a red owl: also called పిల్లలరాజు. గుంజులాడు gunzu-l-āḍu. v. n. To struggle.

(p. 451) cūcu ṭsūṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To see, to look, view, observe, perceive. To consider, meditate, think on. To visit. To wait. To take care, be on one's guard. To regard, care for. To try, to attempt, to see to. To experience, try, prove by any sense. చేతితో చూస్తిని I felt it with my hand. చవిచూస్తిని, రుచిచూస్తిని I tasted it. To estimate, to judge. రాజూచు to acknowledge the receipt. మరలిపోవజూచు to think of going back. అతని ప్రాణముచూడక not caring for his life. సమయముచూచు or తరిచూచు to watch for an opportunity. ఉండజూచు to overhaul,to see that a thing is there. నన్ను చంపజూచిరి they tried to kill me. ప్రేమలొలుకు చూపుల జూచి casting glances that beam with love. సరిచూచు to examine, to see if a thing is right, to check. వాసనచూచు to smell. చెయ్యిచూచు to feel the pulse. వాడు చెప్పే మాటలు చూడు attend to what he says. అతని పని చూస్తున్నాను I am acting for him. నెలదినములమట్టుకు చూస్తిని I waited for a month. చూచుకొను ṭsūṭsu-konu. v. a. To see or perceive. To look silently, look for ourself.

(p. 452) cūru ṭsūru. [Tel.] n. A cornice, border, ledge: shelf on a wall: the eaves of a roof. కాలుపట్టియీడ్చితే చూరుపట్టి వ్రేలాడుతాను though you haul me by the legs I will hang on to the eaves, i.e., though thou reject me I will not cease to cling to thee. చూరు v. n. To be charred or smoked. చూరుకర్ర or పొగ చూరుకర్ర charred wood చూరుకమ్మి or చూరుపట్టె ṭsūru-kammi. n. The lath that closes in a shelving roof ముంజూరున పెండెకు ఎత్తుగావేసిన కమ్మి. చూరుకుట్టు ṭsūru-kuṭṭu. n. The roof bands. చూరెలుక ṭsūr-cluka. n. The eaves' mouse, or house-mouse.

(p. 430) cera chera. [Tel.] n. A prison. కారాగృహము. Imprisonment, captivity నిర్భంధము. యుద్ధములో బలాత్కారముచేత పట్టుకోబడ్డది, కయిదు. చెరబోవు to go to jail. చెరపట్టు or చెరగొను to take one a prisoner, to capture, to carry away by force; to ravish a woman చెరచూరలు chera-chūralu. n. Rape and robbery. చెరచూరలుపట్టు chera-chūralu-paṭṭu. v. t. To ransack or overhaul, to sack. చెరసాల chera-sāla. n. A prison house or dungeon. చెరబడు or చెరబోవు to be taken prisoner, to be captured or carried away.

(p. 437) caulamu chaulamu. [Skt.] n. The ceremony of tonsure, shaving off the hair of a child, three years old, with the exception of one lock, left on the crown of the head. ౛ుట్టుపెట్టి తలవెండ్రుకలుతీయుట.

(p. 555) tēlu tēlu. [Tel.] v. n. To float. To swim. To bathe. To succeed, be done, be settled, ratified, take place. To terminate, end, blow over or end (as a storm,) swell, ripen (as a boil,) to emerge, పొడచూపు To fall clear of, so as not to hit. To clear up, become known, or ascertained, be decided, as a question or doubt. To be found, come to light, result, come to pass, to be evident or revealed. To go off or depart, as sleep, sickness, &c. To escape or get off. నేను తేలే ఉపాయము ఇది this is the plan to save myself. ఏ సముద్రమందు పడవేసినా ఇది తేలును in whatever sea you place this boat it will float, i.e., this must prosper whatever may happen. తేలబలుకు (A. iv. 306.) to speak clearly. తేలిన swelling ఉబికిన; large. తేల్చి పలుకు to accent softly, to use the soft accent instead of the harsh one; as పోతన Pōtana for పోతన్న Pōtanna, and ఇపుడు ipuḍu for ఇప్పుడు ippuḍu. తేలదీయు to haul ashore, to pull out or drag out. తేలగిల్లు or తేలగిలబడు tēla-gillu. v. n. To rise to the top. పైకితేలు. To roll or swim, as the eyes. తేలగింపు swimming of the eyes. తేలవేయు tēla-vēyu. v. a. To open (the eyes) wide. కండ్లుతేలవేయు to stop winking తేలచేప tēla-chēpa. n. A kind of fish. H. iv. 225. తేలాడు tēlāḍu. (తేలి+ఆడు.) v. n. To float. తేలు, తేలిఆడు. తేలించు tēlintsu. (causal of తేలు) v. a. To cause to float. To bring up or produce. To accomplish, do, achieve, perform. To fulfil. To glance, as applied to the eyes. తేల్చిపోయు to pour in loosely or lightly. లాలించితేలించు to fondle and please. తేలిక tēlika. n. Lightness, ease. లఘుత్వము. adj. Easy, simple, light. బరువులేని. వానికి ఇప్పుడు ఒళ్లు తేలికగా నున్నది he is well. తేలుపారు tēlu-p-āru. v. n. To arise, to be born పుట్టు.

(p. 1024) meraka meraka. [Tel.] n. Raised ground, a high spot. మిట్ట. ఉన్నతభూమి. ఆ చోటు మెరకగానున్నది it is an elevated spot. మెరకపల్లములు irregularities in the surface, ups and downs. ఆ పడవను ఈడ్చి మెరకను వేసినారు they drew the boat ashore, they hauled up the boat on the beach.

(p. 1100) lāgu lāgu. [Tel.] v. a. &n. To pull, haul, drag, draw. ఈడ్చు. వాడు ప్రాణము విడుచునప్పుడు వానికాళ్లుచేతులు లాగినవి in dying his arms and legs were drawn up, or were contracted. n. Attraction, ఆకర్షించడము. Consent, సమ్మతి. Manner, విధము. A summer sault, leap, లంఘనము. Short drawers, reaching only to the middle of the thigh. చల్లడము. లాగించు lāginṭsu. v. a. To cause to pull or drag, లాగునట్లుచేయు. లాగుకొను lāgu-konu. v. a. To take by force, seize. బలాత్కారముగా తీసుకొను, అపహరించుకొను. లాగుబడి lāgu-baḍi. n. Expense, cost. లాగులాడు lāgul-āḍu. v. n. To struggle, పెనగులాడు. లాగు or లాగున lāgu. adv. Like, as, రీతిగా, విధముగా, వలె. 'వెలయుహరిశ్చంద్రువిధమున, నలునివీకను, పురకుత్సుచాడ్పున, పురూరవునిలీల. సగరులాగున. కార్తవీర్యు మర్యాదగను. గయునిక్రియ.' H. i. 42. ఏలాగుననున్నది how is it, in what fashion is it? ఈలాగున in this way. అలాగున in that manner? అతడు చెప్పిన లాగున according to what he said? అది అయ్యేలాగున చేయవలసినది you must manage to get this done. మాకు అందేలాగు so that it may reach us. మొద్దులాగు నిలిచినాడు he stood stock still. వాని ముఖములాగు ఉండెను it looked like his face. ఇట్లు చేసేలాగున చెప్పుము tell him to do so.

(p. 1101) lācu lātsu. [Tel from లాగు.] v. n. To lie in ambush, పొంచు. To oppose, కవియు. v. a. To pull, haul, ఈడ్చిపట్టు, లాగిపట్టు. 'వారికధ్వగులులాచి యిడువిడియములపేర.' A. ii. 69. 'దాచినమీమూలధనమెల్లబెట్టి గోచికా డైదానిగొనుచునేతెంచి లాచియున్నాడునీలాగొత్తి చూడ.' HD. ii. 1051. 'కటిసూత్రమున లాచికట్టినగోచి.' L. xi. 253.
