(p. 102) asahāyata a-sahāyata. [Skt.] n. Loneliness, solitude, the life of a hermit. ఒంటి, అసహాయశూరుడు a-sahāyaṣūruḍu. n. He who fights single-handed. అసహాయుడు a-sahāyuḍu. n. He who is friendless, he who is single-handed. ఒంటిగాడు, రెండోమనిషి సహాయము లేనివాడు.

(p. 128) āśramamu āṣramamu. [Skt.] n. Abode, cell, hermitage, retreat (equivalent to a Living, rectory or see). State, stage, period or time of life from a religious point of view. There are four such stages, viz, 1. బ్రహ్మచర్యము bachelorhood or studentship. 2. గార్హస్థ్యము house-holdership or being head of a family. 3. వానప్రస్థము being an anchorite. 4. సన్యాసము being a recluse. ఆశ్రమధర్మము the duties peculiar to each stage of life. ఆశ్రమస్వీకారము āṣrama-svīkāramu. n. Embracing the ascetic condition: bidding farewell to the world.

(p. 246) kamaṇḍaluvu kamanḍaluvu. [Skt.] n. A bowl or cruise carried by a Hindu ascetic. సన్యాసులుంచుకొనే గిన్నె వంటి మంటిపాత్రము. కమండలి kamanḍali. A hermit: 'he who carries a cruise.'

(p. 279) kāvi kāvi. [Tel.] n. and adj. Red, redness. Russet, tan, pink, salmon colour, fawn colour, terra cotta colour, tawny hue. ఎరుపు, కాషాయవస్త్రము. సం౛కాని the red hue of evening. కాని or కావిరాయి red ochre. కావికోక a tawny robe, worn by ascetics, imitating the colour of the raw hide worn by hermits in old days. కావిగొను to become red ఎర్రనగు. కాలితాలుపు an ascetic సన్యాసి, కాషాయధారి.

(p. 279) kāṣāyamu kāshāyamu. [Skt.] n. Redness: brick red or tawny: a cloth thus dyed, a hermit's dress: కావివస్త్రము. ఆమె కాషాయముతీసుకొన్నది 'she took the veil.' రోషకాషాయము redness of the eyes through rage.

(p. 288) kuñjamu kunjamu. [Skt.] n. A thicket, a bower, or arbour. పొదరిల్లు. An elephant's cheek ఏనుగుచెక్కిలి. An elephant's tusk ఏనుగుకొమ్ము. కుంజరము kunjaramu. n. An elephant. The best of anything శ్రేష్ఠము కవికుంజరుడు a great poet. మౌనికుంజరములు the noblest of hermits. కుంజరాశనము kunjar-āṣanamu. n. Elephant's food. The poplar leaved fig tree, ficus religious. రావిచెట్టు.

(p. 295) kuppamu kuppamu. [Tel.] n. A small village or hamlet; a fisherman's village. చెంబడి వారి పల్లె.
