(p. 623) dhura dhura. [Skt.] n. A burden. బరువు. ధురంధర dhuran-dhara. adj. Bearing a burden, able, clever, talented. బరువు మోయునట్టి. ధురంధరత్వము dhuran-dharatvamu. n. Supporting, upholding, patronage, responsibility. ధురంధరుడు dhuran-dharuḍu. n. One who bears a burden, one who is responsible, a clever or able man. భారమువహించువాడు. ధురీణుడు dhurīṇuḍu. n. He who bears a burden. బరువుమోయువాడు. An able or clever man. ధుర్యము dhuryamu. adj. Bearing a burden, entrusted with, sustaining. Fit to bear a burden బరువుమోయగల. ధుర్యుడు dhuryuḍu. n. One who sustains a burden. భారము వహించువాడు. గర్వధుర్యుడు one who is inflated with pride. ప్రౌఢవాగ్ధుర్యుడు an eloquent man.

(p. 766) puḍisili puḍisili. [Tel.] n. The hollow of the hand. పుడిసెడుబియ్యము a handful of rice. Infl. పుడిసిటి. Abl. పుడిసిట. Plu. పుడిసిళ్లు. పుడిసిలించు puḍisilinṭsu. v. a. To hold anything (as water) in the hollow of the hand. పుడిసిలింత puḍisi-linta. n. The act of holding anything in the hollow of the hand, పుడిసిలిలో పట్టుకొనుట.

(p. 807) pottu pottu. [Tel.] n. Friendship, partnership, holding in common. స్నేహము, సహవాసము, విశ్వాసము, ఉమ్మడి, అవిభక్తిత. పోరునష్టి, పొత్తులాభము (proverb) quarrelling is a loss, friendship is a gain. పొత్తునగుడుచు to eat together as messmates, బిగిసిగాతిను. వీధులు అందరికిపొత్తు the streets are free or common to all men. ఆ సరుకులు పొత్తున కొన్నారు they bought the goods between them, or as common stock. ఆ పని పొత్తులుపోక పడవేసిపెట్టినారు the work is left undone because they could not settle which of them should do it, ఆ పని నీదంటే నీదని పడవేసిపెట్టినారు. 'నృపుపొత్తుబాముపొత్తుంగపటుండగు మిత్రుపొత్తుగడుసరిపొత్తుం, విపరీత భార్య పొత్తుం నెపమిది నిడువంగవలయు.' Sumati. 129. 'ఇట్టి అవమానపుపొత్తు మనంగ వచ్చునే.' M. IV. iii. 33. పొత్తులవాడు he in whom both parties have an equal right or interest. ఇద్దరికి సమమైనవాడు. 'ఏనుపొత్తులవాడనై యిరువురకును.' ib. XII. v. 257. adj. Friendly, united, associated. స్నేహితము, సంగతము. పొత్తుకాడు pottu-kāḍu. n. A friend, స్నేహితుడు. పొత్తుకత్తె pottu-katte. n. A female friend. స్నేహితురాలు. పొత్తుగుడుచు pottu-guḍuṭsu. v. n. To avail or come to good. పనికివచ్చు.' సత్యములు పొత్తుగుడుచునా సున్నుతాంగి భళిర సత్యములానలైనచ్చునీకు.' Ila. iv. 21. టీ సత్యములు పొత్తుగుడుచునా, బాసలు కలిసివచ్చునా. పొత్తుగుడుపు pottu-guḍupu. n. Eating together as messmates. పంజ్క్తిభోజనము. పొత్తుచేయు pottu-chēyu. v. n. To make friends with, to cultivate friendship, to associate with, స్నేహము చేయు. పొత్తువు pottuvu. n. An epithet of Sarasvati, సరస్వతి.

(p. 840) prasaṅgamu pra-sangamu. [Skt.] n. Addiction to, connection with. A conversation, talk, discussion. ప్రస్తావము, సల్లాపము, సంగతి Connected reasoning or argument. విషయ విస్తరము, వాదము. A discourse, speech, sermon, lecture. ఆ పండితుల ప్రసంగము చేయుచుండిరి the Pandits were holding a disputation. ఇకను ఆ ప్రసంగము మానుకొండి have done with that discussion. ప్రసంగ సంగత్యా in the course of conversation. అధికప్రసంగము talkativeness. ప్రసంగించు prasang-inṭsu. v. n. To talk about, to discuss, ప్రస్తావించు, వాదించు. To make a speech. ప్రసక్తి pra-sakti. n. A topic, or subject of conversation. ఆ ప్రసక్తి నాకు తెలియదు I know nothing about the matter. ప్రసక్తించు prasakt-inṭsu. v. n. To talk about, to be related to (a subject). ప్రస్తావమునకువచ్చు.

(p. 962) mallamu or మల్లకము mallamu. [Skt.] n. A vessel holdinng oil whether for culinary purposes or for burning as a lamp. నూనెచిప్ప, ప్రమిద, సానిక. మల్ల or మల్లె malla. (from మల్లము.) n. A shallow earthen vessel. మంటికంచము, సానిక.

(p. 1035) mokhāsā mokhāsā. [H.] n. A village held on service tenure. A village granted at a favourable assessment or no assessment, to any person for past or expected service. మొఖాసాదారుడు a person holding the above.

(p. 1066) rayitu , రయతు, రహితు or రైతు rayitu. [H.] n. A ryot. కాపు. రయితాంగము or రహితాంగము the agricultural body, the peasantry, కాపులు. రయితువారి rayituvāri. n. The Ryotwary system, i.e., the system under which each cultivator holds direct from Government. An individual farmer's settlement of rent, or of the Government demands. రయితువారిలెక్క an account showing the holding, &c., of each cultivator.

(p. 1381) haṭhamu haṭhamu. [Skt.] n. Obstinacy, violence, severity, contumacy. మూర్ఖత, మొండితనము, ముష్కరత. బలాత్కారము. A kind of meditation, యోగభేదము. హఠముసాధించు to presevere in obstinacy. హఠము తీర్చుకొను to pay a grudge. హఠముపట్టు to be obstinate. adj. Stubborn, obstinate, pertinacious, resolute, determined. ముర్ఖమైన, మొండి, పిడివాదముగల. హఠంబుగా haṭhambu-gā. adv. Pertinaciously, stubbornly. మూర్ఖముగా, ముష్కరముగా. 'స్థాణుండైన హఠంబుగా నిలువకుండన్ ద్రోతురు.' T. ii. 18. హతయోగము haṭha-yōgamu. n. Abstract contemplation, whilst suspending the breath. This is generally a method of austre devotion, such as standing on one leg, holding up the arms, inhaling smoke, with the head inverted, &c. It is opposed to Raja yogam. కఠినమైన తపస్సు. హఠవాది haṭha-vādi. n. A violent man, a determined or obstinate man. పట్టిన పట్టు విడువనివాడు. హఠాత్, హఠాత్తుగా or హఠాత్తున haṭhāt. adv. Suddenly, unawares. దబ్బున, లటక్కున అదరిపాటున, హఠాత్కరించు haṭhāt-kar-inṭsu. v. a. To force, compel, ravish. బలాత్కారముచేయు. హఠారంబుగా haṭhārambu-gā. adv. Violently, fiercely. ఉగ్రముగా. 'కఠారంబుల గఠోరంబుగా గ్రుచ్చుచు, కఠారంబుల హఠారంబు గానరుకుచు.' BRY. 647.

(p. 1385) hallasakamu hallīsakamu. [Skt.] n. A dance performed by women moving in a circle and holding sticks in their hands, ఆడంగులు వర్తులముగానిలిచి ఆడే ఆట, కోలాటము, చేతులు పొడుగుగానెత్తుకొని ఆడే తాండవము. A. iii. 121.
