(p. 127) āśa āṣa. [Skt.] n. Love, attachment, desire, wish, hope, passion, inclination, curiosity, avarice. ఆశాపాశము or ఆశాబంధము the chain of our lusts, fleshly ties. ఆశకొలుపు āsa-kolupu. v. t. To cause to desire, to allure, tempt, incite, encourage, to hold out prospects. ఆశపడు āṣa-paḍu. To desire, covet, long for. ఆశాపాతకుడు āṣā-pātakuḍu. n. A covetous man. ఆసపెట్టు āṣa-peṭṭu. To raise hopes or expectations, give hopes, tantalize. ఆశాబంధము āṣā-bandhamu. n. The bond of love or desire.

A large poisonous spider or tarantula. Also, a rough kind of twine. పురిగట్టిన puri-gaṭṭina. part. Strong, vigorous. పురిపెట్టు puri-peṭṭu. v. a. To twine or twist. పురియెక్కించు puri-y-ekkinṭsu. v. a. To incite. పురివిచ్చు puri-vitsṭsu. v. a. To untwist or unravel a thread. v. n. To separate, withdraw, retreat. వేరగు, వీడిపోవు. పురులోము puru-lōmu. (పురులు+ఓము.) v. n. To be enraged, క్షాత్రము మొరయించు.

Vish. iii. 139. పెరగాయ pera-gāya. (పెర+కాయ.) n. A cunning man, కుత్సితుడు. పెరగాయసుద్దులు peragāya-suddulu. n. Nonsense, vain words, idle tattle. 'కటకట గు రువులతోనే, గుటగుటలా నేనుకోరుకోరికవితగా, నటునిటు ప్రొద్దులుపుచ్చుచు, నటమటబెరగాయ సుద్దులా డెదవౌరా.' T. iii. 102. టీ పెరకాయసుద్దులు, కొంటెముచ్చటలు. పెరమగడు pera-magaḍu. n. A lower, an adulterer, జారుడు.

(p. 820) pōru pōru. [Tel.] v. n. To fight, contend, struggle. కలహించు, యుద్ధము చేయు. పోరి సాధించె he mastered it with difficulty. 'దర్పముమీరబోరు మదదంతులపోల్కి.' N. ix. 191. n. A fight, combat, struggle, quarrel; teasing, troubling, insistence. ఇంటిలోనిపోరు family jars or brawls. ఆ పిల్ల పోరుపెట్టుచున్నది the child is giving a lot of trouble. పిచ్చికపోరు the uproar that sparrows make. పోరుట pōruṭa. n. Fighting. పోరుదిండి pōru-dinḍi. n. A quarrelsome person, an epithet applied to Nārada, నారదుడు. పోరుపెట్టు pōru-peṭṭu. v. n. To tease, to plague, తొందరపెట్టు. To cry aloud, as a child. పోరాడు or పోరితమాడు pōr-āḍu. v. n. To fight, grapple, contend, struggle. కలహించు, యుద్ధముచేయు. పోరాట or పోరాటము pōr-āta. n. A combat, a fight, a dispute, కలహము, యుద్ధము. పోరించు pōrinṭsu. v. n. To breed a quarrel, to incite to quarrel. జగడానకు ఉసికొల్పు. 'నీపోటువాటుననిపుడిట్లుమమ్ము, పోరించితివిజంత్రబొమ్మనాయక్క.'
